I still watch too but nothing can compare to these golden years of GH. I was addicted, just like the song says! I am still addicted to classic GH. This was my first video I ever posted on YT so I am glad you liked it.
@@undertheblood31 No. It is not good and pales in comparison to its heyday in the 80s. The writing is a huge issue. Too much focus on Sonny and his family when it should be on the Scorpios, Laura, the Cassadines, Quartermaines and others. It's hardly the must see ensemble show that it used to be. This video alone proves it!
For some reason this song popped into my head. I hadn’t heard it in over 35 years. This was my favorite show when I was in elementary school. I remember every storyline mentioned in the song and everyone in the video.
This is so cool, its like watching old family home movies, seeing people you know and love, but looking much younger then the way you are use to seeing them!
Wow does this bring back memories! Talk about having the dust cleaned off! My mother was the biggest fan of GH I've known in my life! I was in third grade during the '80-'81 school year and hearing this along with that ambulance siren intro, it's as if it was yesterday! I'll be turning 52 in less than two weeks and its a super thing for those of us old enough to remember those days! And the music!
I could have written that word for word although I'm around a half year older than you. My mom and I would sit together on the couch and watch and bond over those exciting storylines after school each day. My mom passed away this year. GH was on in the hospital and we watched together for a bit. I don't know if the show will be as magical as the early '80s, but it will always make me smile and think of my mom and the best parts of the early '80s.
Thanks! I wore this song out back in the day! I couldn't believe when I cam on YT and found all this classic stuff no one had done it yet. Someone did but didn't put any scenes in it. GH of the late 70s & early 80s ruled!
Oh no you didn't!!! I'm laughing out loud right now because I know the words and everyone once and awhile I use the line " girls don't and Annie won't and you all know what I mean" Thanks again. Your videos are just awesome.
My sister was mad for General Hospital back in 1981 and when they did the Ice Princess story arc with John Colicos I actually watched it. That's when this record came out and it was all over the radio.
Omg this song came out when I was a freshman in high school. Everyone was watching it-we were all obsessed. Luke and Laura were everywhere-they even made the cover of Newsweek!
Damn, I loved this show back in the day! Great seeing these old scenes; including some from before I started watching. 3:01 was EPIC because I LOVED Lesley! Thanks for posting!
I remember this being popular when I lived in CA in 1981. The NCO club at the Air Force Base played this in the disco. Catchy groove, silly lyrics ...."Luke kept his cool, he ain't no fool"....... LOL
Anybody remember when Mekkos Cassidine wanted to spread diamond dust into the air in order to change the weather? It was an actual storyline. I'm serious.
I remember the weather machine. It ended with Mikkos Cassadine being frozen in the ice chamber, his hand on that little window. Jeez, it was a long time ago. GH was so interesting back then.
Wow... I remember this, LOL. loved it! As a Les & Rick Fan, I'd like to chime in about CR - I think folks are getting confused with Chris Robinson, of GH (our CR) with the Chris Robinson of the Black Crows, whose brother Rich was also in the band, but, they've since split up and do not talk. Including in that, Chris Robinson of the Black Crows, tried to cut his brother out of the $$$ the band made prior to splitting . Our Chris Robinson is much older, close to 80ish now I believe. and the Chris Robinson of the Black Crows is 49. Our CR and the Black Crows Robinson are not related. :)
Wow what a blast from the past. I randomly remembered this song this morning and had to look it up. I was a kid in the early 80s and General Hospital just permeated the culture. It’s too bad soaps have fallen so far since then. LOL at the line “Susan’s having Alan’s baby...”. Of course, that “baby” was Jason Morgan.
@@jacole439 They we're on all the major magazines cover. TV guide, People all the soap operas magazine. They were on the cover of Newsweek. I still have my copy. I still love Luke and Laura❤️❤️
OMG! I remember this! I was only a kid, like 11 or so, and me & my neighborhood friends used to be OBSESSED with GH. It was nuts! We watched it every day over the summer, and we used to play GH, & pretend we were the characters, & we used to listen to this song on a little 45 record!! WOW! What a memory- a lifetime ago, a totally different world. I actually liked the world a lot better back then, when things were simple.
Yup, I was the same age and still remember talking to my friends about it in my backyard. I don't know if things were simpler, or just seemed that way, but I do miss those days.
Never heard the song until Richard simmons came on for the 50th anniversary! Absolutely love this song. The video edit is even better! Those were the days when GH ruled soaps. 50 years later the show is better than ever! Never miss an episode :)!!
Classic GH is still the best! I am very fortunate to own a majority of the episodes from 1979-1981 that's why the edits were so cool because I knew exactly what was going on throughout the whole video. Great job :)!!
I remember hearing this song on the radio when it first came out. I didn't get addicted to GH until several years later (Asian Quarter / Laurelton days) but this was a great synopsis of what had come before. I wish I had been able to watch the Ice Princess / Luke and Laura stuff when it first aired.
I was sooo addicted! The Left Handed Boy story was better than the Ice Princess! I have as many full episodes and some edits that fill in the gaps of some of the missing episodes in my RUclips playlists on my channel if you wanna checkout the episodes before you started watching.
LOL, yes I used to be so devoted to GH that, like the song says, my day didn't go well at all if things in Port Charles weren't as I thought they should be.
My grandmother would watch this show like it was her job to do so LOL... then I got hooked myself. Just thinking about how people got so caught up in those things make me laugh now!!
OH MY GOODNESSS ROBERT SCORPIO RICHARD SIMMONS RICK SPRING FIELD AND THEM DAMN QUARTERMAINES!!!!! I LOVE IT THANKS 4 THE MEMORIES.. I WAS IN JR. HIGH THEN..EVERYBODY WAS TALKING ABOUT THE ICE PRINCESS!!!!
I still remember all of these characters and story lines.
This was 40 years ago, where did the time go.
This is Fantastic, Thank You. ❣️❣️❣️
I still watch too but nothing can compare to these golden years of GH. I was addicted, just like the song says! I am still addicted to classic GH. This was my first video I ever posted on YT so I am glad you liked it.
I think we have shorter attention spans..lol cuz it still good , but could b great!

The Luke and Laura boat scene.

I still know the words. This always made me a smile as a kid, between watching GH episodes after school with mom.
I remember the words too. The first story will always be my favorite. These really were the best years of the show. The song is great.❤😅.

Back then I never missed a day during the summer vacation months. I was so glad when we got a VCR and I could watch when I got home from school.
Happy 58th anniversary General Hospi-Tale!!!! APRIL 1, 1963!

Best show on tv in 1980 and 1981 for sure!
SO TRUE *GH and Dallas were at their very best during these years

It was great hearing the song again on today's show. Brought back many memories! Happy 50th Birthday General Hospital!
They need to use this classic to recap all GH storylines
Brilliant editing. Wow you got it all. Amazing work!
I just remembered this the other day and I am sooooo grateful for youtube
I still like it after all these years too! Live in MI as well!

Sadly, we lost Richard Simmons yesterday. Friday was his birthday. 😢
I haven't heard this song in 30 plus years.
Awesome! And seeing some of those faces TODAY!!!
Ways to go GH on the Emmy award tonight yeah love you always ❤️ guys since 1977

I used to listen to this song all the time. The clips in the video are all from back when I used to watch the show.
This made me happy.
I'm glad because it was the only soap that had a song. Hope I captured everything from that day

The entire country was caught up in the luke and Laura saga for about 6months. It was big time. Seems like a long long time ago

I remember when John Stamos and Demi Moore first came to the show. That was my first introduction to both of them! Thanks GH for the memories..
