What's the point of this channel if all parts at Shop Dap come with the free Paul install option?

I definitely need the metal pan. Still have 3-4k miles of life on my current oil change so I’m going to wait until then to order. Stupid composite pans leak so bad. I have a new long block from Audi and it leaks oil immediately lol!

Correction Paul, seal for oil sensor is 8bucks. I'd have paid 10 just to have it in the kit. Now I have to order one... buzz kill

Just installed my steel oil pan and mistakenly stripped the thread on the block, thankfully the area messed up at has a hole above to allow me to use the longer OEM bolt and a nut on top to finish the job.
Another problem was i over torqued another bolt, so far no leaking and was not stripped. I incorrectly calculated the 8nm to torque.
last problem was in his older video, he called the torque spec for the oil sensor nuts at 9nm. Again I messed up and over tightened them and potentially stripped the thread.
What I learned from this is don't buy a torque wrench from harbor freight, and don't use that torque wrench for serious work. Other than my problems, all other bolts were tightened to spec, the steel pan is on, it looks great, and no leaks!
I definitely would do this again!

Seems like what i am experiencing now on a Octavia Wagon VRS, with a EA888 Gen 3. I got a pretty wet sump and a drop every now and then. Not sure how i wanna tackle this. I guess new pan?

Major problem question. After I took pan off 2015 Octavia 2.0 tdi the black plastic under tray keeps falling down & can’t get it to stick back up… noticed your undertray but why didn’t you mention it

I just found out mine is leaking, not a huge leak because the oil level only goes down very little each time i drive it. Getting the car to a shop in 3 days. Not driving the car much before that.

For the love of all that's holy, get yourself an inch pound torque wrench if you're working on your engine. It's so easy to strip aluminum and the next thing you know you're messing with helicoils. Save yourself the hassle and get the right tool for the job.

Stretch bolts on an oil pan with just 8Nm? Only on a VW 😅

    • @jameshaulenbeek5931

      That depends.
If it's an aluminum pan, that's normal. If it's a composite pan, that *could* mean it's starting to degrade - maybe. If it's steel, the paint came off, but it hasn't rusted yet.
      Or, it was painted.
Edit: you mean the inside? That's not good. If you're using oil additives, stop using them. Take a sample and get it analyzed. Change more frequently and see if it clears up, and sample again.

@jameshaulenbeek5931 yes I've been using m0s2 and ceratec

    • @jameshaulenbeek5931
      @jameshaulenbeek5931 3 месяца назад +1

@@joewontwice that is why. The oil doesn't need extra stuff added to it. Those additives, at best, will only make you spend more money. At worst, they'll accelerate engine wear as they'll counteract some of the oil additive package.

Replacing Gasket with Silicone Sealant: if using Silicone Sealant is such a scary dangerous to your engine option why not replace the cardboard gasket with original OEM gasket? 🤷🏽‍♂️
