You know what I really like about it? The moments of undeniable humor: the dragon claiming that he never swallowed; singing to that girl; being attacked by the meat eaters (cannibals!); overroasting that meat. Those were lovely touches, preventing the movie from becoming too heavy-handed.
"A knight is sworn to valor, his heart knows only virtue, his blade defends the helpless, his might upholds the weak, his word speaks only truth, his wrath undoes the wicked." this is one of the best and most under rated movies of all time IMO. the message in the movie itself is worthy of praise. I frickin love this movie even to this day and it brings forth a lot of emotions. "to the stars bowen... to the stars"
Sir Bowen: What now, Draco? Without you... what do we do? Where do we turn? Draco: To the stars, Bowen. To the stars. Brother Gilbert of Glockenspur: And in the days following Draco's sacrifice... Bowen and Kara led the people in a time of justice and brotherhood. As l remember it now, those were golden years... warmed by an unworldly light. And when things became the most difficult... Draco's star shone more brightly... for all of us who knew where to look.
Okay seriously, you know that Randy Edelman's a musical genius if this song has been engraved in your head the first time you heard it. I saw this movie when I was a little girl, I NEVER forgot the tune of this song--NEVER! There was a time when I didn't watch this movie in YEARS and the song never left my head. It's possibly THE best score in all of history. This is my favourite dragon movie...god it's the BEST!
A Knight is sworn to valor. His heart knows only virtue. His blade defends the helpless. His might upholds the weak. His word speaks only truth. His wrath undoes the wicked.
This music is one of the most gorgeous pieces to ever be used as sound tracks... I wish I could use it as a ring tone as I so would. This music makes me cry... as well as watch the movie. Oh how I wish I could find the movie.
Someone mentioned part of this music being in a trailer for Disney's "Mulan". But I confess I didn't remember that (I've only seen "Dragonheart" once). This was a great underrated film with an interesting premise. In spite of Harry Potter, dragons don't get much exposure in films except as excuses for action sequences. It was fascinating to have a dragon "talk", especially in Sean Connery's unforgettable vocal tones. Thanks for uploading this.
My god...I loved this film when I was a kid! I'm 17 but my god to say the film was made in 1996... I want to get it on DVD and watch it again for old times.
I only saw this movie once and it was when I was like 6 or 7 (??) and I remember crying like a baby when my mom had to return it back to the movie store -_- I use to play the song on the piano by memory and make myself cry hahaha I still haven't seen it since actually ... I need to get it! I love this movie ^^ I love Sean Connery's voice!
God, I saw this in the theater when I was 8 years old, and this song still makes me all misty. Nothing wounds a child quite as deeply as seeing a dragon with Sean Connery's voice die.
Not even eleven years ago would they have done this movie justice in a remake, since every Dragonheart movie since the original has done little to expand the franchise. Hollywood cares little for quality storytelling nowadays.
my dog just passed away only yesterday, normally i have a pillow case over my window cos i sleep in the attic and the window is above my bed i do it cos of the realy light nights but now im no longer keeping the pillow case there as i can 'look to the stars' and remember the great companion i had from 3 years old RIP my baby boy, i will always remember you and i will always miss you
swear I used to absolutely love this film, along with the music when I was a child, I haven't thought of it till this very day! Now I find myself on YT bringing back childhood memories
how the hell do they do that? how do they capture a sound that can make people cry? wth is that?!!! its some kind of magic it has to be. im here having a regular day i listen to this song and idk my eyes got watery.. i havent even cried in 8 years.. WTH is this sorcery!!!
no matter how many times i see this movie or the ending, i always cry really hard. partially because it's sad, and partially because he did what he had wanted and got to dragon heaven. gah! i'm, crying again just thinking about it!
Yeah, it seems like it's in every movie because for so many movie trailers they use the main theme to make the movie seem so amazing and dramatic. You could play this behind a home movie of someone cleaning a cat's litter pan and make it seems amazing.
Has anyone here been to Myrtle Beach, SC, and visited Broadway At The Beach?? There's this epic fantasy-based mini-golf course with this films soundtrack playing throughout!
this movie is so great i cant understand how movies today cant reproduce something like it we have so much more tools and yet they seem to have lost something with time. Dunno if its passion or heart but they did lost it.
@cinemandmusic They use it alot, during awards shows, especially for the In Memoriam section of the Emmy's or the Golden Globes. And the Oscars used it as a retrospective on the Best picture winners during the Oscar's history.
"To the stars, Bowen... to the stars."
I saw this movie when I was in my late teens. I cried at this part.
I saw this when I was 5

Twelve years on and still the graphics hold up. Hope since you wrote this 12 years ago you ok too :)
poor draco. this song always makes me cry.
Quite possibly one of the greatest movie themes
very underrated movie
Saladon89 still looks amazing too!
'Without Draco, Where do we go, where do we turn?'
'To the stars, Bowen, To the stars'
Doesn't this perfect cosmic sound remind people we all have a soul that is eternal ?
Dragonheart are my favorite movies
I watched this movie today to remember the good old days when I was a kid... What a masterpiece.
I've heard the main theme of this throughout so many films and awards presentations and yet nobody knows where it's REALLY from. It deserves credit.

when i look up to the stars i dont see only stars.... i see love, peace, good things, Merry christmas brothers and sisters
this movie can never get any better then this right here thats why i'll always love it!!!5/5
1996.. I love that year.. filled with classic movies: The Rock, Twister, The English Patient, and of course Dragonheart.
I was born the year this came out.
I saw it back in 2000. Multiple times. But never since. I need to re-watch it.
One of the best movies ever made, old but gold!
this makes me happy and then breaks me at the same time...ahhhh one of my favourite movies of all time
My all-time, favorite movie. Nothing can compare to this movie.
My childhood was so awesome.
God, I saw this in the theater when I was 8 years old, and this song still makes me all misty. Nothing wounds a child quite as deeply as seeing a dragon with Sean Connery's voice die.
Can you imagine how aweseom it would be if they did a remake of this movie?
Only a good remake.
Not even eleven years ago would they have done this movie justice in a remake, since every Dragonheart movie since the original has done little to expand the franchise. Hollywood cares little for quality storytelling nowadays.
the saddest movie song of the world
I'm crying too.... that's a perfect end, with a perfect song..... that's great!
"No one is above the code, especially the king!"
