- I thought this performance came out beautifully and I am so excited to finally be sharing it with you! “A cricket sang and set the sun“ was the first-ever marimba solo I learned (in 2019) and I’ve grown to absolutely adore this piece by Blake Tyson. This rendition is a re-arrangement of the piece for 3.0-octave low A octave marimba/malletSTATION as opposed to the 4.3-octave marimba that it was written for. I especially loved filming this one because some of the shots were outside! Also, I’m still so surprised and happy about all the support on my previous performance of “Land” (relatively higher view count, Instagram reposts from both Pearl Drums and vibraphonist Drew Tucker @itsnotaxylophone) and subsequently decided to make it into this mini-series! Enjoy :)
Side note, the poem I recite at the end actually does not have much to do with the piece. The only relationship is that the title of the piece is derived from the first line of the Emily Dickinson poem.

Beautiful! Thank you for playing the piece and sharing this video.
You are so welcome!! So great to hear from you :D
wow I had no idea they sounded this good now
I was placed on MalletStation for marching band this year (I’m a senior).
A little disappointed I didn’t get marimba, but I’ve been wanting to try a MalletStation for a little while, and this is one of 2 videos that inspired that wish. Plus, my high school used a MalletKat in my freshman year, and the MalletStation is pretty much a MalletKat, but better.
Anyways, Wonderful arrangement, Advik. Very well done.
Thank you!! That’s so good to hear; I love when the instrument’s used in a marching band setting, and that this vid is a small part of the reason you enjoy it and were willing to make the most of that opportunity :)
Good luck with that 🙌
Woo go Advik!! The poem at the roll section was a really cool touch - fantastic job!!
Thank you so much Ginger!! That was actually a last-minute add lol, everything was done and I suddenly had that epiphany :)
very, very, good. Too good for our mortal ears. Supreme.
omg tysm Sanjit :))
Ending reminded of Shadow of the Colossus. Great playing!
everyone's commenting about how good this piece is but after watching ur video 15 times I am totally fixated upon the PE shirt lol
LOL this was actually so long ago wow, funny cuz one of my new current goals when video making is to not blatantly feature unwanted branding 🙃
Really cool music!
Ciao Advik mi piace molto questo brano e vorrei suonarlo anch'io sulla malletstation, dove posso trovare lo spartito?
[Ciao! Consiglierei siti Web come Steve Weiss Music, Lone Star Percussion e Tapspace per acquistare spartiti per percussioni. Grazie!]

Grazie 🙏 complimenti per la tua esecuzione 🎹
What software did you use to get the marimba sound? I’ve been trying to use studio one on pc but it’s been driving me insane.
twas Logic Pro!
@@adviknigam Did you use the Logic Pro marimba patch, or another library? Outstanding rendition! Congratulations!
@@Dynasty62752 It was Logic's own standard plugin. Thanks!
