I always figured when Leah got to her pre-teen/teen years, she would start to grow up and have thoughts like this. You can’t blame her.

Unfortunately when teens get a certain age like 12 ish they don't want to be around their parents. I've been there three times already and now I got two more to go. It does hurt when your kid reject you and don't want you around but just got to sneak away in whenever you can.

Leah is starting to realize who Ambr really is and Amber is not liking that. Then tonight she jusst tried to say she is there at least two times a week, and last week she said I'm a damn good Mom. She is trying to convince herself that she is something that she's not rather than looking at what she needs to improve on.

I stopped watching the show for awhile now. I am so surprised to hear Leah speak like this 😔 poor girl she is smart and so pretty. Amber needs to get it together asap, if she wants to be apart of her life she needs to be consistent and dedicated 💯
Leahs old enough now that she’s able to speak her mind and say exactly how she feels, and I’m honestly really proud of her. I was gonna say Amber needs to get it together before Leah doesn’t want her around anymore, but it seems it’s already at that point.

@@kristinas5714 you’d be surprised by how kids really describe their parents. I really hope Gary didn’t bash Amber but from the looks of it Leah made this one on her own. She’s old enough to see that her mom doesn’t always make the greatest decisions. Can’t force a kids to love a parent that wasn’t really there.
I remember in past seasons Gary taking major crap about Amber in front of their kids. Those moments leave a lasting impression, and usually is enough to make a child favor one parent over the other.
I do like how Kristina said she is like a bonus mom not trying to take over Ambers roll weather Leah wants a relationship or not she still is her mom.

@@VONiiE8 You are right. And also,saying "she's still her mom" when she had never been interested in raising her makes me angry. My father was emotionally abusive to the point where I believed I sucked, I didn't deserve to be loved by anyone and all I had were flaws and no good qualities at all, and when one of my teachers didn't believe this and tried to almost force me to believe my father loved me and cared about me, I got angry.
As of right now, I'm only 19, but I love children and I do want them in the future, and I'll assure they'll never feel the way I felt as a child.
I'll obviously correct their failings, but I'll never belittle or insult them as people.

Just like with Leah, I don’t think I can say Amber doesn’t love her, I just think she’s not a mothering type. I think Amber should let Kristina mother Leah and just create a different relationship with Leah bc being her mother ain’t it, as unfortunate as that is. Amber is too busy trying to be seen as mommy just bc she birth her, while not actually being mommy. It’s unfortunate that she’s not Leah’s maternal figure but that was bc of Amber’s choices, now she needs to create a new lane and stay in it.
@@VONiiE8 Yes, you are right in everything you said. And I was 14/15 when I finally opened up about what was happening with my father (which is still going on now that I'm almost 20, though it's a lot less than years ago).

I really appreciate Gary letting Leah know how important Amber being there is. Even with all her downfalls, I think she should be able to at least congratulate her daughter. I do however, see where Leah is coming from and feeling like that is totally not her fault 😔

He’s only urging a bond between amber and Leah, because if he outright says amber shouldn’t be in Leah’s life people will be on him about it. @@boodabooda7097 she’s more than a step-mom to Leah, she’s there for Leah on a day to day basis and Leah spends far more time with her than Amber. Leah even said “that’s why I have Kristina”. No disrespect to Amber, I know she’s going through mental health issues and that’s hard. Lots of kids grow up with step-parents doing more in the parenting role than biological parents.

If I ever heard or knew my daughter felt that way about me I would just feel like a complete failure . I would do everything and anything to fix my relationship with my daughter.
Same. I'd feel incredibly crushed. I understand life happens and we all have issues that we need to deal with (like Amber) but I would have put my kid first before anything to prevent being in a situation like this. Amber clearly prioritized other things over Leah and kids do feel that. It totally sucks that she's always going to feel like she needs to play catch-up when it comes to Leah.
I agree my daughter is Leah’s age and if my daughter felt that way about me then I wouldn’t want to continue life knowing that I failed her. Some Moms have strong bonds with their daughters and some just don’t really give a shit. Sad but true.

i’ve gone through what leah as gone through. my mom always chose men over me. so leah has every right to not invite amber. it’s very hard to not have a mother. but she’s very lucky to have kristiana. ☺️

How is she supposed to feel when her mother said to her face that if she lived on the property Leah better not just come over whenever she wants. Especially when she was excited at the idea of being able to see her mom often. Like what? She's your kid not your friend. Heck even my friends as kids we would show up to one another's house and just walk in the door.
Hate to say it but she's not a little kid anymore, she's able to see the choices Amber's made over the years more and more clearly.

As a mother, I would have greatly appreciated that comment.
I remember last episode Amber told her Mom, “I have been there for her.” She’s that type of parent. You can literally look them dead in there face, express your feelings, and they’d tell you you’re lying.

thank GOD for gary. i think its really important to not just bad mouth the other parent for their mistakes to the child. leah is 12 and it is good that she realizes ambers mistakes- but she should know that amber didn’t just not want her and doesnt care at all. im so impressed with gary and how he & kristina handled this.
But Amber did just not want her? She even had the option recently to move onto their property and see her daughter daily but she wanted her "privacy".

You can tell Gary had to pERSUADE Leah to give Amber a chance because Leah isn't really feeling it. But Gary knew had he not, Amber would have tried to manipulate the situation by saying Gary didn't try hard enough. Amber is going to be fighting her own reflection in the mirror, because leah isn't going to forgive easily, no more than she ever has. This is going to be interesting!
My 6 year old feels like this about her dad. It breaks my heart to know that adults can hurt their little ones so badly

Leah was eventually going to have a louder voice and express the truth. I feel bad for her in one sense, but proud that such a young person can be this honest about how unfair it is to grow up without your parent's interest. Brave kid.
I love the fact that they encourage her to spend time with her bio mom. The fact that she knows how important her stepmother is and all the work she puts in is warming. I pray Amber can change and all of them can coexist together
I love how Dad put things in perspective for her. “If you don’t spend time with your mom, you’ll never form a bond.” Also “Mom’s important”. It’s sad that she’s so aware of things. Hopefully Mom does what she has to do to start healing their relationship.
It’s really sad when kids start to realize when their parents aren’t there for them. I’m currently watching my nephews going through it and the oldest one is a lot like Leah, it’s heartbreaking but really important that they have a voice and express their feelings.
I went through what Leah went through, my mom chose drugs and guys over me all the time, never came to my birthday because she had a new bf, never came over for any holidays because of being high and having a bf. I was 12 when my mom finally tried coming into my life and I didn’t want to because I knew at that time I wasn’t important to her. Leah has Kristina, she’s very lucky to have her and to have someone who loves you as their own child is a very special thing.
So proud of Leah and the young woman she’s growing into being, and good on you Gary and Christina for letting her speak to her feelings but encouraging the importance of Amber being in Leahs life. Great scene

amber has never put that girl first. leah wants to write her off already she's only 12. i think both gary and kristina handled this convo very maturely. kristina saying 'i'm just a bonus mom" no way, u r her mom, kristina. unfortunately for leah, amber has a victim mindset. amber is gonna see this and play the absolute victim. she'll probably say stuff like, 'i tried to make a relationship with leah but she didn't want it.' it's no different than jenelle when it comes to jace, no different than ryan when it comes to bentley and no different than adam when it comes to aubrey.

Leah isn't a little "boo boo" anymore. She is a young lady and realizes just how absent her mom has been. I understand Gary's reasoning for trying to encourage her to have a relationship with Amber, but it isn't Leah's job to be the one to try to med the relationship. She is an innocent child who didn't ask to be born. It's her birth mother's job to be present. I just hope they don't push Leah too hard and she ends up resenting them, too.

They are doing a phenomenal job with raising such a strong intellectual young woman who can openly express how she feels . That fact they give her the floor to speak her mind speaks volumes on their parenting skills. I wish nothing but the best for them . Hopefully she’ll be able to express how she feels one day without Gary trying to get her to change her mind because what he feels is best. She’s telling him how she feels and she said no that she didn’t want to invite her mom. He’s opening up room for her to feel rejected again. I know he means well, but maybe what he feels is best right now, isn’t healthy for Leah.
What I got from Gary’s speech was more about not regretting it later. Amber is still her mom. I think Gary is trying to include Amber bc he is hoping Leah will have that relationship with her mom one day and it won’t happen if she completely shuts Amber out. Gary was disgusting as hell back when they first had leah he was a slob and so nasty and immature and never stood up for amber or helped her when she needed it. Y'all don't forget that too ok. She got driven crazy. Shes been thru alot. It's not fair that leah doesn't know that being her daughter or how no one acknowledges it.. u can tell amber always loved leah ALWAYS.

She invited Amber and Amber still didn’t appreciate it. She wanted to punish Leah for not doing things ambers way.
I can’t imagine my child not wanting anything to do with me or even having a relationship with me because it’ll tear me to pieces. I pray that Amber and Leah can come together because you’ll always need your mom 🙏🏾
Gary did an amazing job raising Leah.
It’s so sad that she feels this way about her mom, but this is really just proof that your kids really pay attention to everything that goes on. It’s so important to do right by your kids.
Gary Is a great dad and it’s great to see him encourage Leah to have a relationship with her mother. I feel bad for Leah cuz she spends 3/4 of her time with Her dad and Kristina. Amber is there but Leah feels like her mom puts men ahead of her. Leah is old enough to know exactly what is going on. She articulated how she felt beautifully.
Leah is more mature than Amber and she sees the big picture. Wow, she is such a strong little girl.

I understand Kristina saying she's just a bouns mom, but she shouldn't down play how leah feels about her. To leah she is her mom! And it's okay for her to feel that way. Poor leah has more than enough reasons to not want amber around. I feel like Gary is pressuring her to be around amber for some reason
It's called a paycheck. He knows if amber is not there,she will bad mouth him till hell freezes over. Eventually the content becomes so toxic MTV won't show them any longer.
Leah has every right to not want to see Amber. It's clear that she and Amber don't have that "bond" so why force it? It's Amber's job to see Leah not the other way around. It's annoying when they put that on the child and not the parent.
Gary has matured so much! Props to him and Kristina not only do they provide Leah with a stable home but he could of completely bashed amber but he didn’t and he listens to Leah but also lets her know in a gentle way to not just wright her off! 👏🏼
