Whereas retrofuturism looks at retro movements that were trying to be futuristic, this album is almost like a portal where we get to hear people from the future reflecting on the "futuristic" movements of today
the emotional sequence of movements the song goes through, the buffering and glitchy synthpop vibes and Videodrome/tech paranoia themes are just perfect! brb, off to meet the monsters inside me
whenever I hear the "tape" skip around 3:22 and onwards, it sounds like the fabric of the music itself is falling apart - creates this very uncanny feeling. also! for some reason I feel this song gives me I Saw the TV Glow vibes

The change here where she says all that's left to bother me are dreams forgotten in the deep reminds me just a little of Comfortably Numb; there are also some moments in the album (end of Tunnel Vision) that sound a little Animals-esque as well, which always makes me happy, heh. :)
The ending segment (2:55 onwards) gives me similar vibes to "Tomorrow never dies" by Swan Lee, specifically the soaring strings and haunting vocals. Highly recommended listen by the way
