Oh my god. I haven’t even watched this yet and I’m excited. I love God Speed You Black Emperor! (Didn’t they move the exclamation point at one time?)! I can’t believe someone is talking about them! Huzza!!
You have impeccable taste! They did move the exclamation point. If I remember correctly it started at the end of "Emperor" and was moved the the end of "You".
I think licensing for film use is very very different than licensing for Soundtrack Album use. There are tons of films that use completely different recordings for the Soundtrack Album than what is actually in the movie. Some even go as far as just having weird covers on the Soundtrack Album. One film I really WISH I could just get the actual soundtrack to is 1984. The Eurhythmics did SUCH amazing work on the film, but then for the album they just turned them into weird pop songs. I think if they had actually released the music they made for the film we would be talking about the Eurhythmics totally differently. I went as far as to dub a tape from the movie VHS to be able to listen to it back in the early 2000s. But I would love a high quality version. Even music-centric films like The Wall use different (IMO better) versions on songs on the film which as far as I know were not released on any albums. On a different but somewhat related topic... the video game Quake had a very weird release. It was sold as a CD and one track is the actual game... but the rest of the tracks are the NIN soundtrack.... which would just play in any CD player like any other CD. It is IMO the absolute best album Trent Reznor recorded after The Downward Spiral, and bar none, his absolute best instrumental album. At $8 it was also his cheapest album! The game was fun for its time, but the album lives on in my music collection 20 years later!
@@LiminalSpacesTalksMusic03 Thier work on the movie sounds like it could be Brian Eno. It's actually incredible. I enjoy the Soundtrack Album they released as well, but it's very much what you might expect... the actual film though is a master work. It's like when you hear the Toto soundtrack for Dune... def not the sound we usually think of!

Really great working through the different elements of the album. I’m long overdue for a complete listen through.
