That's such a sweet thing to say to an artist, and I get where you come from. His expression is one of pure love and adoration ❤ Naariel is an incredibly skilled artist to capture such an emotion so well 🥰
I felt like that also. Rarely do we get a lot of male portraits like this with direct eye contact with the camera (viewer) that isn’t intimidating. Men tend to be portrayed as less inviting than this, either to be strong or aloof or in action. This is very much a male fantasy portrait painted for the female gaze, portraying him as attentive & interested in us ❤
This painting shows how Halsin truly is. All the bad things that happened to him changed him, but once everything passes, I think he'll be way more like how this painting portrays. Coz you can see glimpses of his true nature, but it's like he's always trying to suppress it. It's just sad. Or he could just let his hair down.
your process and the way you explain why or how you do certain things has inspired me!! i love that you talk about the technical side of things while also showing how sometimes a loose bit of trial and error is the best way to go about things! keep up the great work!!
it's wild how those pants materialized. one second it was just brown and the next it was leather. i cannot explain why this part was the most fascinating to me out of this entire speedpaint.
The fact that this was all on one layer first is terrifying. I loved seeing the process and it’s super cool to see how other artists build out their pieces! This is super impressive and you created a fantastic piece! I can’t wait to go over some of the other speed paints!
your rendering on the body is absolutely amazing, a combination of hard and soft edges to make sure the body stays defined yet the skin remains soft. I definitely learned a lot while watching this also, 22:06
oh my god this is gorgeous. I can imagine halsin looking at a romanced Tav after they move into the now healed shadowlands after a rowdy night by the lake. idk this artwork tells a really cool story this is beautiful. I hope I can get as talented yas you one day damn
It's like obviously Halsin, but, you make him look so much softer somehow. I wish he'd look like this in the games cause I'd be with him 100% if he looked at us like this. XD I also checked your site and saw your beautiful WoW art, I'll definitely need to commission you one day you're so talented.
Omg everything is on point! The beauty marks, scars, body hair, even the veins on his arms. How can you be this good on anatomy and nail the background too!? I'm speechless... amazing work!
its always such a huge blessing to be able to see long real-time lapses of an artists work from start to finish. This helps me improve more than tutorials, thank you for the opportunity to watch! ❤
Honestly, I'm not even in the fandom (yet, I hope), but I've been rewatching this timelapse a couple times now and I've been enjoying every single moment of it. Your work is incredibly detailed and interesting as well as the process itself. It really inspires me a lot, so I tend to watch a bit of your timelapse and then go draw myself 😅
Oh my this is so wonderful that you explain not only your steps but the whole process and show how you think, I always just give up and don't finish my work :'-) because I usually stuck at some point and don't know what to do, and EVERYTHING I do just makes the work worse and worse and I end up crying xD
"finished, not perfect" is my mantra. I still see so many things i could fix here but at some point you just need to step away and be happy with what you've made.
The algorithm either knows me too well or is spying on my conversations, because my friend just sent the twitter post of this over to me two days ago. Absolutely fantastic work!
That bear emoji censor was hanging on for dear life Your rendering is straight up magical, I watched it happen right before me for 1 hour yet I struggle to believe it being real
Gorgeous! Your process is really really similar to mine. I feel such relief bc online it feels like everyone else starts with very tight line drawings whereas I work tonally to get the composition & then draw/ paint simultaneously like you did. One thing that surprised me though is to see you draw all his “anatomy.” I tend to draw ken-doll for clothed figures haha 😂
You're SO real for tracing the face shape and using a real hand as a reference, I always feel like I would get called out for doing these sort of methods, but at the end of the day we're still putting in hard work on our end. This came out amazing!!
You're just saving yourself a ton of work and ensuring that you get proportions right. Tracing is a legit technique. I recently make a family portrait, and I traced their outlines too. But everything else - colors, background, accents, is something that you have to do yourself. Heck, even knowing WHAT to trace is something that requires skill, along with how steady your linework is. And of course you need real life references, you aren't supposed to keep a mental library of how everything is supposed to look in your head, that would be madness. It's life we're trying to paint and draw, of course you would need to look at life to figure out how to do it.
What an absolute *treat* this whole video was. To see your process from start to ending, including the ideas that you started with and ultimately tossed... I feel very lucky and priviliged to have caught a glimpse of that. Thank you so much for sharing this, including the texts of your thoughts and pointers. You draw Halsin so tenderly and sweetly, I fall in love with him time and time again when I see your artwork, each time. Loved seeing the fur brush at work, how you dealt with the background, seeing you work up from grayscale to the colored hues and the sculpting.
This is usually how I start my art but I always give up and get frustrated before I even begin. seeing the beginning of a great artwork like this really helps motivate and put things in perspective. I can see a lot of different techniques in here I like to use so watching this actually gave me inspiration and more confidence that I can create art im satisfied with if I keep working at it and dont give up on pieces so easily. Great art! Halsin is beautiful hubby material and im not ashamed to say I spent an hour just staring at this gorgeous fictional man that you captured so damn well
Overcoming that 'ugly stage fright' can be really daunting, I can attest as a fellow artist. I hope you can proceed with your art and create what you want :D
simply wow, I usually don’t like to watch drawing processes because it makes me feel such a noob by the way I draw and paint 🥹 But wow, this video is truly captivating. I like the start of your drawing, the fact that you “3D sculpt” the body shape before drawing anything else
i've been absolutely head over heels for this piece since i saw it posted on twitter. youtube recommended me the timelapse and i'm even more in love!! it's so cool to see your process and see how the drawing comes to life, thank you for everything you do!
Dont know who the heck this guy is, but i love your process and your little written commentary, id love for more ppl to do that. And obviously the art is beautiful
the process reminds me of the artist from aisha like the blocking of the shapes in greyscale and then going into color and details, your art is truly amazing!!
Your scketch fase is very interesting! Before the art stunning final look, its noticiable how much you think and experiment to give the paiting the best dynamic possible. Incredible timelapse!
Genuinely, this was such a joy to watch. I used to be able to render like this so long ago, but have been out of practice for over 10 years now at least. This has inspired me to want to get back into things. You really did a great job of capturing him, I LOVED watching you render. So talented! Thank you!
YT just bumped this up in my TL and I'm so glad because I never knew you posted your speedpaints!! I already admired your paintings so much but seeing you go in and render everything and all the steps it takes is so interesting - I've not watched everything yet, but I'll def come back to properly absorb everything you've shared 💗💗
Naariel, you're heaven sent! This is so beautiful and it's so kind of you to share the process! Love, love the smile! And everything else really, you always make him look so good and I can't help but fall in love time and time again with our soft nature boy!
We really need more artists reminding others that using references, and even tracing for basic proportions isnt CHEATING. its a tool. a reference picture alone isnt an art piece, just as a blueprint isnt a beautiful house. It's in the translation to finished piece, and the application of the tools, where the artistry really shows. you can also make a perfectly fine house without a blueprint, but its much harder for no real payoff, and could end up looking... really wrong, and you only noticed at the end. The only thing id ever consider "cheating" is straight up stealing anothers art and passing it as your own, and thats just daylight theft.
it's crazy to me that references, tracing and photobashing is still considered cheating by so many in this day and age. I had assumed we'd left that mindset behind in 2010, but it seems to be making a comeback!
This art and the music. My chair would have become a waterslide if I was to do this for hours. This is the experience of falling in love with the art. Godlike tier job!
Awesome work ! It's great to see other artists' way of painting. You're so great with lighting and composition ! I love it and I admire your sense of detail and your efficiency. Well done ! The only thing I'm not a 100% a fan of is that I always find difficult to read captions on a speedpaint while following what's happening on the speedpaint itself. But I've just made my first commented speedpaint myself and I do understand how difficult it can be. Your work is gorgeous nonetheless and I'm happy I've find your channel ! Instant follow !
this is literally my favourite fanart of halsin!! also the reference on the right when you draw his face!! i didn't know it's yours as well!! thank you for showing your process, it's so clever how you use lasso etc to sculpt the body!! i also like your humour lol ("excuse the nuts" haha)
I loved watching this video, i've been into digital art since 2016 and never understood how digital painting worked until today I also cracked up with the "Excuse the nuts" caption
I saw this art piece on Tumblr (I believe) yesterday and I was so mesmerised I ended up analysing it for like 5 minutes 😭 so happy I found your timelapse!!
I love how tender the expression ended up being, less cocky and more just a genuine look of pure love. Stunning
thank you! yeah im glad i softened it up a bit
@@NaarielArtemphasis on cocky
This is the perfect description, thank you! In love with this beautiful piece!
I've been seeing this image EVERYWHERE and the fact that the voice actor himself commented on the image on twitter had me dying, amazing work
19:58 "-I have no clue what i'm doing"
I FELT THAT
"excuse the nuts" howling!
I am STUNNED by how beautiful this is. Your artstyle, knowledge about light and shadow, detailed rendering.....I admit I'm jealous af
Wow, thank you! I've been doing this for years, if that helps haha
I'm usually the one loving artworks but looks like I'm feeling loved by an artwork for the first time
That's such a sweet thing to say to an artist, and I get where you come from. His expression is one of pure love and adoration ❤

Out here doing the Lord's work. We thank you!
I learned more about digital painting from this video than in two years of academy, your technique is brilliant! ✨
Glad it was helpful!
I'm not a halsin fan normally. His character is cool, but this makes me really like him. Wish he was portrayed more like this than anything.
he's my soft nature boy. he just wants wander the forests and be merry, bless him
This painting shows how Halsin truly is. All the bad things that happened to him changed him, but once everything passes, I think he'll be way more like how this painting portrays. Coz you can see glimpses of his true nature, but it's like he's always trying to suppress it. It's just sad.
Or he could just let his hair down.
the sculping with lasso tool, I'm trying to learn that rn hahah, glad to find this video and pretty cool art
best of luck!!
your process and the way you explain why or how you do certain things has inspired me!! i love that you talk about the technical side of things while also showing how sometimes a loose bit of trial and error is the best way to go about things! keep up the great work!!

Always easier to draw skin tight pants when you've already let drawn the legs beneath 👌
A simple 'like' is not enough to describe how much I love this
aw thank you!
Ugh, husbear in your style never fails. He's so handsome already and even more in your style - love it! Thank you for sharing the timelapse!

This looks like it could be the cover of a romance novel. He looks amazing! Now I want to romance Halsin XD
i love his romance
your rendering on the body is absolutely amazing, a combination of hard and soft edges to make sure the body stays defined yet the skin remains soft. I definitely learned a lot while watching this

he is a soft boy, really. his romance scene 100% shows that!! thank you so much!
I feel the vibe as if it was a painting from the Renaissance, and invite you to embrace all the nature's gift

oooh interesting to see how you block out the shapes in the beginning
super helpful to visualize a cohesive composition
its always such a huge blessing to be able to see long real-time lapses of an artists work from start to finish. This helps me improve more than tutorials, thank you for the opportunity to watch! ❤

@@NaarielArt That's good advice for any form of art. :) Thanks for sharing your talent with the world.
Thirst trap ? NUHUH, this is the WHOLE DESERT.
Much younger looking than in game. I would imagine this is Halsin about 200 years younger :)
It's just the effect of not having to deal with Kagha and the grove has on him
The algorithm either knows me too well or is spying on my conversations, because my friend just sent the twitter post of this over to me two days ago. Absolutely fantastic work!
