It follows the same concept of regular platformers, where you have to jump on platforms to avoid dying. You are constantly on 1HP, and every damaging object is a 1HKO. Another game such as this one may be I Wanna Be The Guy, or Kaizo Mario.

It's a relatively difficult skip which involves doing that whole section (from when you hit the first red/green box?) without dying.
