I'm from kanyakumari..and I heard about mayamma..it's a blessing that we all living in the time where sadhguru is living..I've never been jealous about people who seek fancy life but I always been jealous about people who seeks the life of a yogi or bhrahmachari
thank you for making me remember Mayamma. i met her in Kanyakumari maybe in 1983 or 84, thanks to somebody who took me there. Many dogs were around her. We just stayed around her, she acknowledged and did not mind our presence. People said she was an incarnation of Kanya Kumari.

Right from my childhood, I’ve come across many pictures and names of such Great beings but never knew their story as not many people are aware of them. One thing I’m guessing is people usually make only those saints popular who have either performed some kind of miracles or have contributed immensely to the welfare of mankind. Fortunately here we have Sadhguru who’s constantly taking us towards the realities of life by reminding us of the miracles that happen in our day to day life, Something as simple as eating a banana and making it into a human being. Sadhguru has always been sharing the life stories and incidents of great beings whom we can in some way look up to and learn and aspire to be like one or at least bring some qualities of theirs into our own lives which in turn can change one’s life into a higher possibility. That's what most of the Yogi's do.
Eg, Ramana maharshi, Budhha, Paramhansa, Ekhart tolle, muji, Adi shankaracharya, Yogananda, malerappa , Vivekananda , Sadhguru all enlighted beings are Dnyanis with Dhyanis.
Only Bhakti (Devotion) will take several births.

Long ago When I went to Kanyakumari one day, I have seen Mayamma surrounding a number of dogs. I was unsuccessful in taking her pic.
This is one of the greatest example of devotion that I heard about!

I recently heard most of dogs become mad due to they are not eaten properly, bad thing is they don't steal food from humans, but looks to people with innocent faces

Once I was returning from Isha yoga centre to chennai and the route was through salem so we went to this mayamma’s place, there were many dogs sleeping outside and it was just a small 15x15ft space. when I sat there I could literally feel the strong presence of her and it was just like sadhguru says “explosive”. Must go place for everyone and its best if you can go on an pournami🙏

Mayi was in all tourist guide book for Kanya Kumari as an important sight to see, with bus loads of people coming for Darshan. The dogs around her gave full attention to her, not fighting, although some thirty of them, and seemed to act like messengers, coming to you when she emerged from afternoon nap or walking you through town at night. Swami Gnanananda Giri is said to have called her as the 'real gem'. She often took food only after everyone else had had some.
I love the idea behind this series.

Yes,there is a reference of Mahatma in Shri M's book too.He had met her on the shores of Kanyakumari,she had fed him too.
Mayi Amma used to clean the shore behind Devi Kanniya Kumari temple. Although she looked ancient, some say she was nearly 500 hundred years old, when she did something she had tremendous energy. She picked every match stick or cigarette end besides bigger garbage. There was a dhuni daily. The Beautiful Mother!

Madness of physicality doesn't liberate it's still a bondage. Whereas madness of a yogi is for divine not for physical as a result outwardly they don't fit into conduits of society but in their experience they are liberated from bondages of physical.
