Nice video! American McGee's Alice is one of my favorite games of all time. There's really nothing like it. The sequel improves on the original in a lot of ways, but, as you say, it's not as good as the first. I followed the design of Alice Asylum closely for years only for EA to just say "no". That one hurt.
I love when a gamer has a normal desk setup! It feels refreshing nowdays.

Alice Madness Returns is such a cool game and they’re genuinely fun to play. The artwork and visuals still hold up to this day in my opinion. I do love both of the games in the series and I hope they make more one day.
Take this with a grain of salt, as someone who hasn’t played the OG American McGee’s Alice- but i really like Madness returns!! Other then some of the parkour (which at times was maddening- hah maddening) I found most of the gameplay to be pretty satisfying! But im a huge sucker for her cool themed dresses so maybe the designs are making me biased ^^

I will say that I’ve had a better time with the platforming in Madness Returns than some sections in American McGee’s. Also I love the dress designs too
As a fan of American McGee’s Alice and Madness Returns (almost 100% completed) it always pleases me to see people get into the games. I’ve always loved Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass and they mean a lot to me, great video!

YESSS i was obsessed with that game when i was a kid. i can't wait for remake coming to steam!! :D
I didn't know that McGee was working on a 3rd game in the Alice series that's cool even though it didn't come to light. I completed Alice Madness returns quite a while back. Also McGee was also working on a Wizard of Oz game in a similar style as Alice but that game didn't see the light either.
You forgot the wonderfully weird point-and-click game by Lexis Numerique, though it would probably be worth a video on its own!

As far as I know, the English version is avaliable on the Internet Archive, so aquiring the game should be very easy!
Doing the video in costume is a great touch. Maybe someday you could do a sequel called games with Alice such as kingdom hearts and Disney's Villian Revenge.
I've been so obsessed by American McGee's Alice and Madness Returns. I've only played Madness Returns and I loved the way everything looked, it was amazing
I played it on my 360 like 4 years ago during quarantine. Exchanged it at a gamexchange in Texas back when i lived there and all I got for it was like 29 fuckin cents lol

7:19 holy flashbacks. I used to read the manga for Alice in the Country of Hearts when I was a kid. I also remember young me being upset that Alice got to have all these romantic moments with the male leads, but hardly any with the Queen of Hearts.... Should've realized I was sapphic a lot sooner, lol.

There also exist a K3 Alice in wonderland flash game (from what I remember it’s a simple platformer) but I haven’t seen it since around 2011.
Great video! I'm a bit of an Alice fan (see profile pic and name). I played the McGee games on PS3 and love them! I'd heard there was a 3rd game coming and very disappointed to hear that is no longer the case.

omg I loveeeeee Madness Returns. American Mcgees Alice gave me crazyyyy rage. A lot of peoole have complained on the PC version of Madness Returns so the jankiness is probably due to that

Madness Returns is just awesome, it controls just fine on the 360 for as far as i got in the game
don’t know if anyone’s said this, but if you buy alice madness returns (on xbox at least), the game comes with the prequel ! i’ve completed amr three times already, and at least on console the only technical issues i’ve had are the way the viewpoint changes in some keyhole rooms and once the game bugged in the hatters realm but that’s it :) (and it’s designs and artistic aspect even to this day are unmatched/still hold up very well imo) i’m glad you covered these all though ! (also there’s another point and click series called alice is dead that was interesting) thank you for feeding my alice obsession 🫶🏻
This is a really good run down of all the Alice Games, but would have liked to see some flash games too! Alice Is Dead was a fantastic point and click adventure, reminiscent of McGee's Alice tonally!
The reason why Alice Madness Returns feels very janky to play is because the game was a port of the consoles. There are some fan-made files to fix some of the issues of this game, it really optimizes it.
I'm so glad this video ended in my recommend because it allowed me to fall into the wonderful rabbit hole (ehe) that is this channel

Theres also Zombie panic in wonderland, which is the actual 3rd best Alice game. And i consider madness returns to be the best, i thought it played much better than the first game.
Oh this video is such a treat! Thank you for making it. Also, it's curious cause I found American McGee's Alice gameplay unbearable so I stopped playing it but Alice Madness Returns felt very OK to me. Maybe it's because I played both with a Controller and the 1st game is easier to play with a mouse? Idk
Don’t quite understand how someone can say the first American McGee Alice plays better than Madness Returns?
I'll be real, I played Madness Returns about a year after I played the original, so if I properly went back to it that sentiment might change, I just had more trouble getting a controller to work with Madness.

4:27 Do realise this was made for the GBC. It didn't have a backlight so the colours are muted compared to how they appear on an emulator.
I wasn't expecting to see any flash games on here but this reminded me of a trilogy of point n clicks on newgrounds by lorestrome about the characters. I don't remember much else about them aside from the fact that the white rabbit is the protagonist and he's a hitman sent after Alice??? Maybe?????
A small correction about the first American McGee's Alice. The console versions [ps3, xbox 360] have the game in the bonus features in the console ports of Madness Returns. So no need for an alternative account ir anything of the sort. The first game is on the disc. And I highly recommend you play the console versions of Madness Returns. The tecnical issues are not nearly as bad in those. But neat video regardless. :3

I remembered there being a unique DS version of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. And I think it was a side scroller. A lot of games based on a film rarely have one version. Like Harry Potter 1-3. Their PC ports are NOTHING and nowhere near as good as the console ports. Not to mention you got the PS1 version compared to their PS2 version. Now if only Wizard of Oz got to have this much romp. I know there was a cool DS game where you control Dorothy on a ball.

I really enjoyed the first American McGee Alice game, and I keep trying to get into The Madness Returns, but for some reason I just can't. Although I really like the Art style
I actually found that the first McGee game is much jankier on xbox than the sequel. I'm so interested in the first one but I just can't play it because it sucks so bad to control on console. The sequel is my personal favorite of all these

ive noticed something about the fanbase, and contrary to what you say in your description, you dont get mental health issues from playing these games, you actually need preexisting conditions to enjoy them in the first place
