Shantanu spent the rest of his life without Ganga? Are you joking? Wouldn't the moral of the story be when Shantanu stopped blindly following Ganga's absurb request to never question her - his reason for doing so fuelled by his current life and past life obsession with her beauty/body - he had a son that ended up being a gifted warrior and asset to mortal life for many years? It just seems a lot more logical than sparing God's from a mortal life who were actually respectful in the previous life and came back as babies who wouldn't know if mortality would be awful or not.
First of all Ganga dint asked anything wrong. She is the most pure soul on the planet and most holiest river of all. Whatever she did was pre planned. And she had to shape the future. And Shantanu dint stopped after separating from ganga. He later got attracted to another girl named Satyavati and wanted to marry her. I grew up with a different version of this story tbh. It talked about 8 celestial brings not lowering their vision when Ganga's clothes got displaced and thus she cursed them to incarnate as humans and lead a mortal life. Those 8 apologized and asked her for mercy and mercy was what she gave them. For a middle path, she said that she'll birth those 8 and drown them as soon as they're born. I respect your version too but there are many fundamental fallacies that discredit the gods. Like why would Brahma need 8 kids to die so as to teach the couple a lesson? I would look at the moral of this story than actual story itself. I actually believe (I might be wrong), all these stories didn’t happen but are lessons from vedas. Common people won’t understand much if they are taught the actual verse. These stories were created by scholars so that people would understand it better.
@@MBangre I respect your perspective on these stories as myths and I agree with your point that moral is most important. But what we need to be careful is also how it is presented. In order to prove a point, you cannot turn Hitler into a nice person because that contradicts heavily with the facts. Like that, contradictions of characters personas in a story lead to a contaminated moral which further confuses/respulses listeners.
According to this youtube channel's story, Bramha didn't want 8 kids to drown and die. It was Vasishtha who cursed them so. Bramha only wanted the couple to live a mortal life. This channel should've specified why the 8 Vasus were cursed by Vasishtha. That's one piece which is missing in this version of the story.
If you ever find hindu gods ruthless i dnt know what will happen if you read greek mythology .. Where the main god zeus was a womanizer and rapist his brother poseidon was a rapist too😂
@@Medussa357 I am well aware of most mythologies around the globe. The point I was making was about the deviation from factual characters. Just because Zeus, Poseidon, etc had bad characters, doesn't mean someone with lesser flaws is acceptable when compared. But that is not the case for Hindu gods as every action of theirs is backed by some context that explains the reasons.
Worst cases of lust is in greek mythology ever heard of zeus who falls in lust everytime he sees a beautiful women and he would do anything to sleep with her and then impregnate her and the irony is he is the strongest god in their mythology. Where in mahabharat atleast lust is shown among the mortal beings unlike many other mythologies.

@@manahil558 I knew almost nothing about the Hindu people until I was able to review more information online. The Hindu people have a number of deities that are prominent in popularity. Visnu is sometimes in competition with Siva regarding popularity. Some like Ganesh and Durga. Most Hindu people like a deity image made of various materials such as wood, stone, or metal. They usually believe that the god being has manifest in their carved image through their prayers, hymns, and mantras. The believers in Lord Viṣṇu may also believe in Sri Krsna. The believers in Visnu have some pretty good details regarding the Divinity of these deities. They also are not entirely bound to a carved image and may give great preference to the names of God in accordance with their beliefs. The Hindu beliefs are thousands of years old and some argue the true antiquity. Modern Hindu people vary in how strict or serious they are with their religious beliefs in every day life. The Hindu people sometimes have strong ties with the Muslims, but usually not.

She didn't kill them. They were vasus and requested to ganga to free from curse.Which she did by helping them to retaim their form which was before their human birth.
she knew he would question her so that's why she set forth the condition before they married. it's not what happened that you're supposed to look at. it's the action and consequence. the action was the promise to not question her and the consequence is the death of your 7 children. don't make a blind promise for something so vague and impossible to predict is the lesson for this part of the epic.
If this story is symbolic, I dont understand what it wanted to convey. If it's a true story, I'm glad I wasn't born in those times. I personally don't think that this life is a curse..it's what I make of it.
@Neptune it means that there is a life much better than this human life in the universe. They don't have problems that humans usually have. They have higher strength, not bound by diseases and so on. And Devas are usually not bound by the rules of Karma like humans are.
Thanks for this video! It's time India invests in archaeology and excavation projects so that the so-called "myths" can be proven to be a "history" that actually happened in India millennials ago.
Wow..that was interesting 👍
And..your voice is really soothing 😇
Although an epic, mahabharat had the worst cases of lust 😁
Yes that's true
A webseries/serial can be made of these 🤨
Bec it written in very non Theocratic society which were philosophic and quasi phenomenal .
U knw nothing u hve searchd only fr lust but some searchd fr wisdom n knowledge of life
Because Mahabharat teaches us how to act in this Kalyuga. Whole Mahabharat was the divine creation of Lord Krishna so that we people in Kalyuga learn and act accordingly. We came from Him and at the end of our life we have to go back to him again but in between we have to act rightly.
Sometimes others mistake will become blessing for us. So take what is good for us.
Is 8 a sacred # in Hinduism, since Bhishma and Krishna were both 8th sons?
Not that I'm aware of but what an interesting observation!
Wow 8 has been coming to me a lot related lord Krishna
not only 8, its 108 thats the special number, so i guess something related to 108
Nothings as such.
There isn't any sacred number but depends on the aspect and deity being worshiped.
many things are associated with other numbers as well.
3: Thrimurthy(Bhrama, Visnu, Maheshwara), Thrinetra(3 eyes of shiva)
4: Four Vedas, Chaturmukha Bhrama(4 faces of bhrama)
5: Panchamrutam(5 liquids used in abhishekam(Cow milk, Curd, Ghee, Honey, Sugarcane juice)),
6: Shamukha(Indian god of War with 6 faces)
7: Saptha rushi(The holy 7 saints)
8: Ashta Lakshmi(8 goddeses of Wealth), Krishnashtami(birth of Krishna on 8th day of month)
9: Navarathri(festivals like Ganesh pooja and dussehra), Navagraha(9 Planets), Rama Navami (Lord Ram is born on 9th day of the month)
10: 10 Avatars of Vishnu
There are many more related and significant numbers. these are few such examples
It is.
Actually there are many such numbers, but I think all are holy.
You dint complete the story, Shantanu finds Devavrata one day, when he was 18yo, Ganga hands over Devavrata to him and leaves
Now understand Ganga was not mad 🙍

I think that some people can have serious difficulty in understanding these ancient Vedic legends and the existence of Celestial beings. Otherwise, those have learned some things about the ancient Vedic beliefs may be able to understand this legend with deep reflection.
Thank you for sharing very interesting videos!
What ancient vedic beliefs?
I don't understand why people call them history.. Aren't they supposed to be mythology? Don't get me wrong but I don't get it!
Why do people believe in them? Don't they defy logic most of the time? Like that one who cut her head and her friends drank blood...etc I've watched a lot of videos but people keep saying it's their history!

Some people have strong beliefs in these stories or legends and probably do not like the mythology word.
There are some things about ancient archeological finds that defy more commonly accepted modern scientific beliefs.
@@dandavatsdasa8345 Alright!
Also can you please tell me what are the religious practices and rituals performed by Hindus in India in everyday life?
@@manahil558
I knew almost nothing about the Hindu people until I was able to review more information online.
So this was post partum depression in ancient society 😂👌
Spot on, it might be soothing even empovering for the folks to relive their extremely painful experiences through deities 🤔. Or it is simply based upon men's carnal desires so they would even tolerate the murder of their innocent infants without doing anything so they can continue to...😡. No, no ...I prefer to believe in the first one.

This story tells that even if u r a god u can't Dodge karma.
If a god makes a mistake he or she has to face the consequences like mortals.

The most funny thing is "god making mistakes"!!!!
Killing is prohibited..
No lol
She didn't kill them. They were vasus and requested to ganga to free from curse.Which she did by helping them to retaim their form which was before their human birth.
Nice stories
Ok you don't kill your 7 children and not expect your husband to ask why?
Which is why this is an ancient epic and not an everyday occurrence today?!
she knew he would question her so that's why she set forth the condition before they married. it's not what happened that you're supposed to look at. it's the action and consequence. the action was the promise to not question her and the consequence is the death of your 7 children. don't make a blind promise for something so vague and impossible to predict is the lesson for this part of the epic.
Interesting story!
If this story is symbolic, I dont understand what it wanted to convey. If it's a true story, I'm glad I wasn't born in those times. I personally don't think that this life is a curse..it's what I make of it.
What is your understanding of God?
And this life
If there are curses there are boons also.. And there are reasons why these people were cursed
@Neptune we dont know maybe it is maybe its not or maybe its our fate to be born and earn our good points.

Mahabharata is a history. Story of how Ganga came to Earth, is also a history. Nothing is a myth until proven otherwise.

Purpose of life can be many. If we are useful to nature and others, life will be meaningful.
There is a vast difference between killing and sacrificing...both do not mean the same...so, the title of the video must be reconsidered...
Sacrifice or not if you are taking others life its killing unless one gives his own life as a sacrifice i wont call it a sacrifice.
@@Medussa357 devi ganga drowned her own children to relieve them from curse...just think about what sort of courage a mother needs to have to do this task.....she was drowning them for their sake...if this is not a sacrifice of a mother, then what it is?...the sacrifice of her children for their sake and not hers then.....how is that killing? killing is when you rob someone or something from their life for your own selfish desires and satisfaction.... intention is most important in any act....a doctor cuts the body of a patient to save....at the same time, a murderer cuts the body of the victim for self-pleasure.....
@@subhankarbhattacharya1378 understandable. I know what you are trying to say. But its not mentioned if she is really hurt while drowning her newborne. These stories should be told to unemployed Bajrang dal activists, who consider love as a taboo and mob lynch lovers on 14th feb every year
True
And what about those who convert either by force, extremism or by deceit? Is that fruitful employment?
@@peachNplum we aren't talking about those... Bajrang dal every year creates issues for young couples portraying love on Valentine's day.. Even for school students.... And about the thing u are mentioning that's legitimately a serious issue.. Not just in one religion but in many.. Maybe less or more in certain religion but happens all the time everytime.. And if we have to end force conversions in name of love we have to increase the importance of knowledge, choice etc force conversions are more between people who don't know the difference between love and choice.. Mostly in less educated people.. If an intelligent person with thoughts and choices is being forcefully coverted he/she would fight against it..till the end...so yeah proper knowledge is the key and power...
But this issue isn't coherent to the valentines day bajrang dal issue.. They just wanna create chaos even in consentual couples... Let's not compare...
