  • In northwest Baltimore, just south of Pimlico Racetrack, home of the Preakness Stakes, lie some of the city's roughest neighborhoods. The areas have been in decline for decades, however recently there has been a mass demolition program. Blight reduction in this area has been a major focus for the city and state. The effects are very clear as many places that used to be empty row homes are now empty fields. There are also some new construction projects underway.

Unfortunately, my dad passed in 2011 but I don't remember him mentioning the Shipley's. His mom's name was Ruth and I believe his dad's name was Elmer

I think I remember Mother Hubbard's daycare across the street. I used to visit my grandma a lot in the '70s and early '80s. She passed in 87
