oh yea that's right! Its a very healthy ecosystem there, even with some of the corals dying, the sharks and schools of fish are strong! I do like that sapphire blue water too, its gorgeous
It's great that you can go out and experience these trips while you're young enough to enjoy it. There are several places I've always wanted to go Unfortunately they still remain on my bucket list. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Bob for the perspective! It wasn’t easy to get over there but wow am I glad we did it. Your so right though the brevity of life and how fast it goes. No time like the present, I hope you still get to do some of those trips on the bucket list!
That looked gorgeous, thank you for sharing Peter. Glad you got to get out and explore a warm climate, and do a little underwater fishing. That must've been a long plane ride! Looking forward to checking out the rest of the vids
It was incredible Bob, the videos and pictures we have from the trip dont even do it full justice. If you big into diving I think it’s a must see destination. And you nailed it, the only downside and I mean only, was the ✈️. About 22 hours total in the air on 4 different planes, the last being a sea plane. The sea plane was awesome though. Can’t wait to show you the rest of the vids!
idk, Cabo is beautiful too, I hope you have a safe trip and catch a monster! This was truly a trip of a lifetime though, never even knew where the maldives were before planning this trip, lol
I’m glad you liked it! I’m with ya, I think we can use these doa shrimps up here in the northeast, especially in the spring when the water is colder, clearer, and the stripers actually feed on grass shrimp a lot early spring from what I’ve heard.
haha, yea thats the only problem with really all the water in the northeast. It clears up for us in the sound in late fall to early spring but its just too cold to be in the water then. Does it clear up in the cold months by you?
@@PeterRanieriII I was born in Wildwood and have a place in North Cape May and the only time I've ever seen clearish water down here is in youtube spearfishing videos. Though I haven't spent enough time "in" the water in the cold monthes to notice. The guy to ask would be @609Fishing. Nothing stops that guy!
Dave! It was such a cool place man. I got the rod from aliexpress. It’s called emrod stainless and I think it was the medium-heavy action one. The reel was something I had picked up at a garage sale for $5 and it had sat in my storage collecting dust for 10 years or so. It did a very good job lol I would totally try this again if I’m anywhere where the water is clear 😆
Hey Kolby, the most direct path we could find was NY to Paris about 11 hours, then Paris to Male another 11 hours, then sea plane to that little island was about 45min.
@@PeterRanieriII Thank you so much for going through the trouble. I really appreciate it. Seems like the right kinda reel…. if there ever was one… for underwater snorkel fishing.
@@KarimElayoubyFishing haha I completely agree, I was originally going to buy a cheap reel and have it be a one and done, but I found this in my drawer and it practically glowed back at me like it was made for this occasion
The water is beautiful and many fun seamonsters to catch there!

Nice change of scenery.
Thats for sure, lol. Its a very serene place.
Wow what a trip Peter! Makes our trip tomorrow to Los Cabos pale in comparison. 😊

Thanks for sharing this amazing experience. I bought similar artificial shrimps. Will have a try on north shore after this winter.

Been thinking about underwater fishing for years. Gotta try this. Doubt it'll work in Cape May's chocolate milk... I mean water.

@@PeterRanieriII snorkeling and fishing at same time is genius, kinda feels like spear fishing but harder cause you gotta get em to bite

Can you share any details about the reel? Name, or company?
I wasn’t sure but I just looked it up. It’s made by Union hardware co and it has no. 7110 stamped on it. I added a link to an eBay listing.

odd looking seabass!
Haha Ken, yea I’d be sus if a sea bass had spots on it like that
That’s the other side of the planet
