This is how I play heavy, following over from my time in T:A. Being able to lurk around the common capper paths before and after they are expecting engagement catches them off guard and lets you swat them with ease. I do the same with with medium but also chase and harass the enemy stand a little too. It's nice to see people being inventive and playing outside of the expected roles as it makes the game more fun and interesting.
@@omgitsfishstixnope, but it never stopped me. Not being on the flag gives us better choice of positioning so we can immediately drop off a hill and gain speed to get where we need to be quickly.
That's crazy, man. My first ever youtube video was EXACTLY this kind of gameplay. 11 years ago I uploaded Tribes Ascend Juggernaut. My friends just told me this is in EA now. Paused the game I was playing to buy it. Checking out some content on YT while it downloads and this is the second video I see. This was meant to be. I'm grinning like a little kid. So stoked. edit: oh god I just remembered the juggfinder. Mortar jumping in heavy armour, 200km/h+ caps.
At that crazy scramble moment everyone was talking about, I didn't throw the flag, I was hit with a hail Mary nitron haha Our defense was super solid on that Raindance map. Keeping the A team from 5 points was a big win from my perspective
It looks similar in perspective of a two-way forward [In ice hockey, a two-way forward is a forward who handles the defensive aspects of the game as well as the offensive aspects.] I remember we were on Raindance and found myself being drawn away from the base. I was asked to play D but returned at halfway point. This is my first attempt at playing any O positions bruh. HAF or "two-way forward" is something I'd love to try. "I hate your mortars" from airstrikes is the latest compliment...lol. -Drivel (This game plans to unlock in approximately 9 hours)
I still think the class needs some love though, to most mid level players "eh just be the best player in the game, hit all your shots & pre-fire blink cappers with good timing" is not a strategy that most people trying HoF are going to be able to do.
This is quite interesting I think. Blink is an ability, which is a forward teleport, but it doesn't teleport you in the direction you are travelling, it teleports you in the direction you are aiming. But it does seem to retain your vector and momentum when you come out of it. Which is to say, you can come in fast, with a terrible angle to hit the flag, then aim at it, Blink, and get the flag, and still have your momentum and vector. Seen a few cocky cappers do that today, and get good results. From a HoF perspective, how do you defend against that? The way I see it, you have two choices. Either flatten the incoming capper before he can Blink, or flatten him after he Blinks, when he has your flag. Heavy around Stand, seems to be a reaction to the power, or capacity, of Blink. But at the same time, Blink is a reaction to cappers being gunned down by determined HoFs with cheesy toys in T:A. From that perspective, it is just the pendulum swinging back the other way. This game will always need more cappers than it does HoFs, after what happened last time.
seen u in-game! i like playing hof. people whine about the blink pack but if u put mines round the flag and shoot em with disc as they blink over u can almost kill the capper. (also hovering over the flag and shooting llamas in the skull is a good way to farm blue plates)
Jagle is a threat that should never go unmarked. If he's out in midfield, a player does needs to go out there and take him out of play so they can lift some of the pressure off the rest of the team. Tough as hell to deal with still, since Jagle is also one of the best duelers in the game right now.
I think its funny how he thinks 1. shotgun wasnt busted af close up from the get go and 2. anyone playing hof other than jagle like this wouldve been flamed to pieces
I would like to drop my hat in the ring in the fight for best mortar usage ^_^ But I play HO not HaF - can't say I'd be able to compete with jagle playing his role!
They keep nerfing heavies and added 20% weight before paid Early Access was the final nail in the direction they're taking this for me. Comp scene won Erez out vs Pubs and they seem to only want a very micro small map with lights only and tiny teams with open flags on a pole. You can not "balance" for one without unbalancing the other. They're two different game sets. I just wanted a fun Tribes game to escape hellworld. Comp sucked all the fun out. DOA. Oh well. Sorry to vent on your channel. Just new levels of cynicism unlocked seeing "well look at Jal exceptional he's managing something after the nerf". I see the writing on the wall and I won't be buying. Shazbot man, just....shazbot. - A Salty T1/T2/T:A vet.
The added weight was a buff actually. Heavies are really strong in the right hands. Also, every new maps they've added has been super large - torment, dx, Raindance, hollow, have all been much bigger than the original maps.

Was heavy this mobile in T:A?

Ye right, this play style wasn‘t invented just now.
Im a new player, these vod reviews are very usefull to understand the metagame of Tribes, thank you!
Glad to hear it! That's the goal :)

hell yeah dude
Just waiting for the game to go up for purchase! 4 hours left! I’m trying to get my friends on board but they won’t come off helldivers 2 lol

Love that analogy!
Wake up babe, new T3 role just dropped - JHD (Jagle-style Heavy Defense)
😂

oh for sure, i do think the body block hitbox size should be increased

I also think the rather small team size further facilitates a looser playstyle like this, where purely sitting on the flag might be a bit troll

I think I see the problem. The flag doesn't have physics, it is controlled by magic.

Yeah... Shady did a good job of distracting but it's frikkin jagle with heavy+shield pack, good luck
Any decent Heavy Offence videos going around? Can't find a thing
Look up Karuciel's videos
I think its funny how he thinks 1. shotgun wasnt busted af close up from the get go and 2. anyone playing hof other than jagle like this wouldve been flamed to pieces
🤷
Could call this Exit Defense Heavy or something like that, cause he's mostly blocking the exit here
🤔 yeah that makes sense.

post your VODs!
