I ordered it. Lighter With Dual Plasma Arc, its designed to light cigarettes and not things like candles. I am very aware of that. I just wanted to have one. Nice video, make videos about Lighters in general.
I've had one for quite a while and I've got no complaints. It's definitely made for mostly lighting cigarettes though because of how close the electrodes are, which is the biggest gripe I hear. This lighter operates kinda like the ignition on a car. It's a DC spark and although not really designed to jump or "arc" across like that but at certain power levels it can and will in order to complete the circuit, which is what it's doing . The arc makes an X just because it's how the circuit was set up, or else it would just go to the pole straight across from it. Kinda like a figure 8. It's done strictly for the novelty of it and has no bearing on the operation of it. Oh yea, I keep also hearing complaints about battery life but it's important that you turn it to off while charging or it won't charge well at all. Ive found that most forget this detail.
I use mine for incense mainly, I also carry it in my pocket for when people need a light or if I ever have a random need to burn shit. I used to carry zippos on me more often but the fuel evaporates so quickly I never know how reliable it is
Everything has it's own purposes; Cigarette Lighters were meant to light up "cigarettes " not candles. That's why there's some small sticks in a tiny box called "matches" which they server for several purposes like light up a stoves and candles :)
+PBWillyWonka That's fine when these get advertised as cigarette lighters, when I bought this one it was advertised as a general purpose lighter which it doesn't manage. Just something for people to be aware of before getting one.
Invest in a box of toothpicks, for lighting deep candles and such. The lighter will easily light a wooden toothpick. Lighting a deep, in jar, candle with a Bic is no picnic.
@@Weaponsandstuff93 Yeah I'd say the pyro's monster from crosslighters is one of the best ones: crosslighter.com/product/the-pyros-monster/. It has 3 plasma arcs and nothing else gets in the way.

This would be fantastic for people living off grid or for SHTF. Together with a solar charger like the Goal Zero this could be the answer to permanent fire source.
A trick I figured is using a wooden toothpick as an intermediary to light candles. Toothpicks are very cheap compared to matches and are food grade, so they don't contain any harmful substances, unlike matches.
From what I know these type of lighter are mainly used for out door smoking situations. I mainly use this lighter to spark up my joint/blunt on very windy days and it's very very convenient. Other than that it really doesn't have many uses.
Imagine a world, in a galaxy far far away, where you could not be out witted by a candle. What a glorious place that might be. There are very few lighters that are effective on a recessed candle. Even a jet lighter requires the candle to be held upside down. Using opposable thumbs, twist a paper towel shred into a wick. Can you figure out the steps from there?
Watching you try to reach the candle was funny and frustrating...No one wants to know if the lighter fits inside a candle holder. We want to know how well it lights stuff on fire.
I haven't seen a CLASSIC Bic lighter since the day almost 20 years ago when I was looking through my late father's tackle box. I really miss adjustable-flame Bic lighters, back when you really could get 2,000 lights out of one.
Ive just stuck with a brand name zippo, windproof, was in use for the military, so they've been tried and tested, simple to maintain, and they are serviceable
though they use fuel which runs out, and personally that's just really dissapointing to me. Like with lighters and torches they always go empty on me because I never change them - though with electric stuff, I can charge them every now and then, no worries, minor inconvenience plus an electric lighter in theory would be much more robust and able to light no matter what, for much longer, and lighter, if they're made well
Yes! I can't stand if for one second! We bought an arc lighter and it sounded just like that, so we returned it and got another model, which didn't sound anything at all! So if you are like me and can't stand the sounds, lookup a model that doesn't sound anything.
A couple of years ago I was able to get those 'stick' style that you describe from a few Chinese sellers. I like to light my hand warmers and backpacking stove with them. Last year I could only find one seller that had them on Ali, and now they are also gone. They had the advantage of being light, and the battery life was decent, possibly because they cost almost $10.00. So I suspect they quit making them because although they were perfect for us non-smokers, but smokers did not like them. Now I find you can get by with the $2.00 'coil' style USB lighters, but their batteries are pretty bad and they are not as good.
I managed to get one for about £15 sold as a Daqun kitchen lighter. It's the best of the electric lighters for practicality of actually being able to light stuff other than cigarettes, however the shape makes it a bit awkward to go in a pocket, I managed to find a Zippo style arc lighter which is also a good design because the arcs are easier to contact with stuff.
Thanks, I did find something similar to that last night on Ali, so I ordered one (about $12.50). As you note, too big for pocket, but looks suitable to carry in pack. Those smaller coil style USB ones work well enough to activate a hand warmer, so I'll just pocket carry one of those if needed.
I have just one question left. How dangerous are they? I know i'm not THAT clumsy, but what would happen if touched the arc? For some reason I can't find any instructions/warnings where I got it from (I got it from excisionmerch.com, wich is a merchline thing)

Yeah that's a good idea to use it as a splint, the long style ones which I have one of are a lot better for lighting stuff I find but not as practical size wise as they're quite long.
If I’m holding something metal and using this will it shock me? I’m wondering because I use a fake metal cigarette and put my own Tabacoo in it and I’m wondering if it’ll shock me while I’m holding it?

Yeah that's a good idea, similar to using a wooden splint to light stuff.
what i do when i can't reach the wick of a candle, i just light up a toothpick, which i then use to light a candle
Not sure what the volts etc are, will test it with a multi meter at some point.
nice video
These are meant more fore collectors than they are practical :) . If you need a practical get a jet flame lighter those work in wind and can acess tight spots :)
+danijel124 Yeah I have a lot of jet lighters, there are some really good models out there.
"out o these tesla coils..." -electricians: crying
I know it's not a proper Tesla coil lol. Electrical probe maybe?
@@Weaponsandstuff93 I am not an electrician, but I have a fair share of high-voltage knowledge. it is definitely not powered by a tesla coil or "electrical probes". more likely it is powered by a li-ion battery connected to a transformer that runs to the leads.
What happens if you touch the arc electrodes while you turn it on?
You get a minor burn/shock.
that sound is really annoying tho
Tbh I think it's worse on camera than in person but it does emit a lot of ultrasound.
Weaponsandstuff93 you just use so many words wrong stop
I believe he means the ultrasound part. Ultrasounds are sounds that are far beyond a regular person's hearing capacity. Ultrasound is not just any high pitch sound.
@@jonssinator well this thing emits a cascade of high frequencies at considerable intensity.
Quite loud for what it is.
@@davecrupel2817 It's way worse on camera because it picks up almost all of the noise. When I light mine it's not annoying at all. It's like -10dB irl.
Edison Arc Lighters are worth looking at. They are the longer ones.
Yeah I have one, but they are impractical in length for keeping in a pocket.
Hey I have the stick plasma lighter. I've only had it for 3 weeks and now all the beams don't connect. I only get one beam. The other two coils won't connect. Please help!!
+Garrett Blackburn Is there dirt stuck on the coil?
Weaponsandstuff93 No and I tired cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and all. But the person shipped me another for free !
Does it light incense because I use incense the get rid of the weed smell
Yeah it lights incense fine, the sticks never used it on cones.
Weaponsandstuff93 yeah cool I don't use cones anyways I just use sticks thanks for the answer😀
For Smoking..How many lights per Charge? For $35 for the Lighter ( Surv.Frog) or $60 for Tesla I can get 35 -50 Mini Bic Elec Lighters
I'd say well in excess of 100, probably closer to 200-300.
How many volts have the flame at that lighter?
+horvis none About 4 volts apparently.
Thanks ,-)
