Every year in the UK & Ireland, the public patiently awaits for the John Lewis Christmas advert to be released online, often going viral in an instant - from cute animals to kids to the elderly at Christmas, it's become a popular yearly tradition. We decided to sit down a few of our Irish People who weren't too familiar with these adverts, to see what they thought!

Why the hell don’t we have ads like this in America? The only one I look forward to is the Hershey kisses commercial where they are bells playing “We Wish You a Merry Christmas”. That gets played every year at the beginning of the season.

I cried too, but I cry all the time. I cry when I scrape my knee, I cry when they run out of chocolate milk, I cry when I'm doing long division and I have a remainder left over!

SO now you need to find Publix holiday ads (they have Thanksgiving, Christmas, even a Valentine's one...).
I don't know that it's a true tradition, but it has become more like that every year, I've noticed.
Watching Sarina tear up and cry was heartwarming ... and hilarious! :-) ... In the U.S., we abbreviate "advertisement" as "ad" instead of "advert." (We are too lazy to have to say one more syllable, I guess. LOL) But here, "ad" pretty much refers to print ads in newspapers and magazines, and we call radio and TV ads "commercials."
I admit, I am a sappy guy. Every time I watch the original Grinch cartoon I tear up and these commercials tugged at the heartstrings. Honestly wanted to give Sarina a hug and a hot chocolate.

this is almost like those classic public service announcements for abused animals in the states when they had Sarah McLachlan singing away trying to bring on the tears and get people to adopt their ASPCA which is basically pet saving in America. anybody can take the RUclips search and put in Sarah McLachlan ASPCA and see those ads
If you're trying to make 'em cry, try showing them Turner Classic Movies channel's "TCM Remembers" year-end memorial videos. Some of them will wreck you. But, they are beautifully made, even putting the Oscar awards' memorials to shame.
