    Oh hey I will comment on the construction. Essentially we lost our ass on this construction. There were way too many blems and I sent a ton of boards back to the manufacturer. Just a couple less than perfect decks slipped through the cracks and it’s really a bummer when a customer gets a $300 imperfect board. So anyway, we are moving on. Not going to do more work with this particular manufacturer and frankly, based on this experience, I don’t like making $300 boards. I’d rather make this deck for $180 like the Chase Hiller Pro and have way more people stoked on this shape on a classic construction that people can rely on. And I think our riders will be generally more happy with that, too. We can truly make an extremely compelling argument for these shapes in a very accessible construction/price point, and way more riders will be able to afford to try them. As a pro rider, half the fun is just seeing another rider having fun on your board. I bet Andy can see about 2x more people on his deck with a better price point. That’s twice as fun!

      On that note, making these decks was an awesome design challenge. I learned a ton and if we can find the right partners, I will incorporate some of what I learned about these design techniques into future constructions that are less complex (cheaper) but still technically pushing the envelope.

      ngl, even tho it was a major pita sounding manufacturing process, nottomention expensive for consumers, but I wanna add how fortunate I feel to have bought one of the last Summit Series ( my Hierophant) & gifted a second as backup to my main ; these two beastly constructed boards are what I'll skate the remainder of my time here on earth .

    This appeals to me. Unfortunately my Rocket Micro started growing a wild forest of mold and the top carbon ply delaminated, and I've never even ridden it in the rain. Typical BC rainforest problems.

      @helgevig5134 2 года назад +1

      Darn. I think I would reach out to Rocket about that issue.
      Maybe a Rhino would do better in those conditions too. They are supposedly built to be very durable.
      And the shape is amazing!

      The Tortuga has no visible wood so it would be impossible for it to get mould. Unless you cracked it down to the wood. So it might be good for your conditions.

    Donwhill is like "if you spend 300 bucks in a deck you can spend 10$ in risers" and then the total adding all the extra 10$ stuff= 2000$😂😂😂

      I just got back on my board yesterday after a bad ankle strain 4 weeks ago :D "I had to try out my new cal III's and snakes", nothing stops your return if its a passion, just take it easy and have the right safety gear and hardware, i learned my lesson :)

      Yeah dude, don't trip. They called me "Benny Bailz" for a reason. I've probably had more injuries than any other pro, former or current. Probably 40 something broken bones up to the end of my DH racing career, and I'm up to 56 now. What ended competitive racing for me was getting an ankle replacement from a motorcycle crash (I was and still am racing motorcycles at the pro-am level) and a nasty concussion during Danger Bay 5 I think it was. I still ride DH recreationally 15 years later, but all the steel stuff that holds my front foot on makes toe-sides kind of a bitch. Do your rehab properly, get strong and get back out there 🤙🤙
