Great vid! I made one of these for my son this year using your video for guidance. Instead of sewing and hot glue, I used adhesive spray which made it easy to attach the material to the umbrella. Also, I used two sets of led lights: one blue set that stays on and a white set of sound activated lights. We carried a Bluetooth speaker in a backpack and played thunder sounds from our iPhone as well as some Gene Kelly, “Singing in the Rain” and Imagine Dragons, “Thunder”. The sound activated lights would flash to the beat of the music or thunder giving the appearance of lightning. Fun costume the got us a lot of attention and compliments! Thanks for the inspiration!
What kind of string did you use for the beads? You said fishing wire? I went out and bought two different kinds and all it does is “curl” and it doesn’t hang straight.
Hi, sorry clicked the not like by mistake. Love the video and the costume. My problem is this...How do you get the beads to hang flat on the fishing line? When we tie a knot, it leaves the string crooked and the beads don't hang properly. Thanks
This tutorial is amazing, thankyou for sharing!! I have almost finished putting the fiber on my one, did you notice or have trouble with the umbrella arms bending at all? I have tested it slowly by seeing if it will close, and now one of the arms are bending not how it should. Just wondering if anyone had any trouble? Hoping to keep it in good shape for an event in a few weeks. Fingers crossed.
Oh I'm so glad youre making it!! Would love to see a pic of you at your event!! I was never able to fully close it -- I could never get it down far enough to click into the little thing/hole (i hope you know what i'm talking about lol). Maybe you will be able to. I had to get kinda creative when transporting...I closed it as much as i could and tied a rope around. I think one of mine bent as a result as well...but it wasnt so dramatic that it caused any problems or that you even could tell. If it doesn't bother you too much I would just leave it...I don't want you to try and bend it back and it snaps in half. Side note....Something I wished I did was sew some of the fiber on the inside as well...maybe you can do that to cover it up!!! Best of luck to you!! I'm sure it's going to turn out awesome!!! Keep me posted!!
