Got to admire anyone who travels alone, i couldn't do it. Although you made it possible for us all to be there with you. That station cottage did look so cosy!
My mum helps clean the station 🙂she has been cleaning the station for over 10 years now. We have just watched your video, love it 😃 So happy you enjoyed your stay. If you ever visit again there is a public footpath through the field to Kirkby to save you going against the traffic. I've subscribed, really enjoyed watching this and look forward to watching more of your videos. Hope you had a lovely Christmas too. Stay safe, James 😊
I have just watched your video again. I absolutely love the energy in it, your passion and creativity. Your love for trains is so infection. You also have a talent for interesting story telling and putting everything together in a video. Entertaining, endearing and simply charming!
11 out of 10 on the positivity scale 😃. Just what we need on the shortest day of the year to lift our collective moods😎. It looks like such a cozy place ☺️
Really enjoy your videos.. So much so my wife and I have joined the Settle and Carlisle group.. We plan on staying here soon it looks great. I shouldn’t admit this but I’m a train driver of many years and still love the railway which is why we enjoy your vlogs. Thanks..
I’m brand new to this channel and I love it!! What an amazing, sweet, and delightful host. I love trains (I’m in the NY/ New Jersey area of the U.S.) and quite familiar with our trains & stations. Most nothing to write home about though. 😂😂 keep up the wonderful work! 😁
This is a fantastic video, the enthusiasm and humour don't crowed the content, you have a knack for good balance in your hobby/life it would seem, well that's how you come across, while I'm not fanatical about railways and trains, living in Doncaster 55 years has an affect with regard to railways and their impact globally. I don't drive (medical reasons) so public transport is important to me for getting about but also for enjoyment, we are incredibly lucky in the UK in this regard, sadly public transport has been taking a hit recently in particular and the south (greater London) getting the funding which the North should have got over the last decade or so. I have travelled the settle-carslile line several times and many times in parts, the walk back from Kirkby Stephen to the station is a steep one with a full rucksack. Oh loved the dog Christmas cards, I'll be looking out for those in a few months, take care :)
Fantastic video, very much enjoyed watching it. Staying at a railway station hotel (whether self catering or otherwise) in a rural location is s great way to combine a love of all things trains with the countryside. I've done something similar, albeit in city centres where I can watch and film busy tramways from the hotel bedroom window.
This is literally like you’ve just moved into your dream house where trains go past just right outside the window!!! (Me again Georgia lol) glad you enjoyed your stay there “I love twisting these knobs” had me howling but Happy Christmas!!!❤️
This wonderful video poped in my suggestions, I know very little about trains, or the Northern network. I have gone back and started with day 1of your videos. You have a wonderful passion for trains, you seem totally down to Earth, while I am watching you, I find myself being drawn in. Your giggles are infectious. I moved to Wales to 18 years ago and my pronunciation of places is bad, I find it hysterical that equally your diction on some locations can be a little warped too. 😀 It lifts my spirits watching your antics. Thank you.
Just realised all the time I was watching that I was smiling 👍driven lots of trains through ks but not for a few years now. Diverted virgin trains and the dalesrail when I was cross country. A pleasure.
You did say in one of your explore the North West by Train that you would like to stay there and you did it! I honestly happy for you G and this also made me happy as well to watch, very nice vlog of your holiday and something very different to your channel which is awesome! Merry Christmas G and everyone who sees this message :D
Great Video G! One criticism - When walking country roads follow the Country Code - which is "Always walk facing the traffic"! This is so that you can see "disaster" coming! LOL!
We did this trip up the Cumbrian coast line a few times over the years! now you have to change trains at Barrow, one time it was just one train straight through, we used to go to Ravenglass as well for a ride on La'al Ratty! Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.
Oh what a super blog.....has to be your best one yet. A great idea for Xmas....I almost felt I was there with you. At a time when we need some cheer in our lives...this provided it. Don't know how you can follow this....but I'm sure you will. Have a super Xmas G and carry on being as nutty in 2022. Lots of love. x
If you ever stop at Rowley Regis station in the West Midlands perhaps mention my grandson Mathew O’Hanlon. He is train rides mad, but every train trip has to start from this station . (Not the nearest from his home I would add!) whether it’s the Eurostar or the night sleeper from Edinburgh to London the trips start and usually finish from R R .
You can do this on the Derwent Valley Line towards Matlock Derbyshire, at the Cromford station, and I think there is another just slightly north of Matlock Station, but on the Peak Rail section, as well as on the preserved Ecclesbourne Valley Railway from Duffield.
8:50 thats some nice filming of the LSL blue pullman HST set pitty the cupling pannel doors are yellow as it hink it spoils it a bit a 37 was due through a local station witch if id have knew about in advanced and if it wasnt to late in the sodded evening id have had a gander for it
Thanks for this magical video and glad you had a great holiday! Looking back through that visitor's book, was there an entry for day 39 saying 'A person appeared, filmed some clips, sang a song about knickers and then left again. I don't remember that being listed in the brochure but it was really good fun all the same'? Hope you have a great Christmas G and that everyone else does too
Great stay. The railway firm I am told bought dent station... Can I stay at Dent? TFW is just hell....Crewe to Cardiff, two carriages, no toilets, I hope you do this trip and show TFW and it's worst. It was better before, ariva??
Classic! Love it.....Merry Christmas from Adelaide South Australia... we used to be able to stay in Mount Lofty Station the highest point on the Adelaide Melbourne line until it closed several years ago
Very nice. If I ever get to the UK I'll have to check that out. Cozy accommodations in that station house. I don't know if we have anything like that here in the US.
As a train enthusiast and avid walker that place looks......BRILLIANT!! Will have to put it on my bucket list and as how the world is at the moment with international travel its one I may be able to knock off pretty quickly.
Fantastic video G! I looked up staying at Ribblehead station masters house but decided for one person it was too big and a lot of money for one person. I also realised I will probably spend most of my time on the railway anyway lol. So stayed in Carlisle and had a wonderful time visiting Settle,Ribblehead and Appleby over a couple of days...Carlisle is also a wonderful station!
I sort of stayed at a station a couple of weeks ago. I stayed at a hotel next to Glasgow central station. And the view from my window overlooked the whole entire train station! It was amazing, and I would recommend it! Bye the way great video like always.
Thank you thank you , thank you , for your happy, joyous , heart lifting video. You are a delight to watch. You are brilliant at making your own enjoyment and organising yourself. You made MY Christmas even though I watched in January!!! You are a super, enthusiastic, delightful person. Happy New Year.
So glad you did this Miss "G" ! As I said before, my stay in a station led to me buying the land across from it , and I'll be building my house next year! I can't wait to have a railway and heritage station in my backyard. Thanks for tour and I'm glad you had a great stay. Cheers , Gregg.
Wow Georgia that was exceptional, what a beautiful cottage that is, the views where out of this world and to top it all off it snowed as well ( I have to say I got a little emotional). Nice to see I have a bridge named after me (Frank's Bridge). Thank you for all your vlogs this year, they have brightened up an otherwise gloomy year. Have a great Christmas and New Year. Looking forward to the next one, stay safe.
Love the fact you found a great place to stay next to the trains. I felt the same happiness when i found my current home next to the busy wcml. I spent 18 months looking for an ideal place to call home that would suit my sons who are mad about trains. Their reaction was fantastic, my youngest was dancing round the house and even now 5 months after moving in he still runs up stairs to see what freight is passing!
Have you ever tried Rail Holiday, G? Quaint old rail carriages on the platform at St Germans in Cornwall. Just as magical! This looks equally as picturesque and unique in its own right.
amazing looks nice might have to do that myself one day .you'd love the station inn in ribblehead its a pub with a barn with bedrooms plus the ribblehead viaduct .plus you could get the train to settle which is a nice little town to visit take care all the best for 2022
That looks a fab place to stay at. I'm glad you had a lovely time with the added bonus of snow too, plus an old HST loco, happy days! You'll have to go up to Corrour and stay at one of the signal box cottages on the station, and there's also three different railway carriages at St Germans in Cornwall (and another in Hayle further down the line) you can stay at too. And the station house at St Bees, a perfect excuse to do the Cumbrian Coast line again.
Oh, I want to stay at a station, when I visit the UK... It is absolutely amazing, I guess it is the best experience for trainspotters in life, bar none!!!
I just found you while surfing the net, and I must say, I'm hooked now. Everything you do has so much fun and commitment in it and you do it with such ease and passion. You're such a likeable young lady. If ever you get to Bramley station, near Leeds (two platforms) say Hi.
I LOVE this video. Your excitement and reactions just make my heart smile. If you ever make it to the US for some trainspotting, let me know, I can recommend some GREAT places for checking out trains.
You've inspired us to stay there. We will book a week in early February. Going to book the "platform cottage " for 2 people. Praying for at least a few sunny days😅
During my time , I have travelled most of the Mainland by train , mainly due to obscure postings . I too love trains , great fun in Summer , but now as my bones are aching a little , I prefer to sit with a beer , and watch , Drivers' eye view cab rides . I really enjoyed your video .
What a fantastically upbeat and happy video! I love your energy and zest for life. One thing I need to know (like, NEED to know) is where you got your Dalek Christmas jumper!
Hiya g, that was a very good Christmas video, I am glad you had a nice holiday and thank you for sharing it with us, I have watched it 15 times, it is brilliant and g it snowed as well, have a nice Christmas and a happy new year xxx ❤
What a super place! Looks like you had a cracking time there, and it took me a minute to realise what that was on the Christmas jumper... Fun way to spend a Christmas break, and I could imagine doing something like this. The other half would hate it, though 😄
What a fabulous vlog yet again G, they just keep getting better. You deserve to treat yourself to staying there, you bring alot of fun and happiness to us folks watching your vlogs. Stay safe. 😀
Stunning location, scenery and on the Settle & Carlisle Railway. Never thought anyone could stay at a holiday station cottage but it looks epic. Great Vlog of this. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year :-)
Is this still termed as a Camping Cottage? I once stayed in one in Middleton-upon-Teesdale. Also had holidays in Camping Coaches all over the north of England, not forgetting a Camping Cottage in Brinkburn near Rothbury in Northumberland; my favourite one of them all. That was back in the 50s.
This video is amazing yet unusual at the same time. One day I'll probably try and stay in one of the S&C stations for myself. Good thing this line is in Train Simulator. £375 doesn't seem like bad value, especially when the accommodation is at an active railway station. There's a place here in New Zealand, called Ormondville, where they also have bed and breakfast in the old station building. It's on the line from Palmerston North to Napier. Incidentally there was a time I stayed in a fancy motel in Napier where you see the railway from the back window. I love staying somewhere that's within walking distance of a railway.
I saw this comment before she stated it, and I thought you meant it was $375 for one night!! Which, while rather high for an average cottage or hotel, I figured it wasn't THAT bad for the novelty of staying ON a rail station, considering the novelty factor and what I assumed may be high demand from both rail/train enthusiasts and travelers who may prefer an overnight accommodation as conveniently close to the train they're due to take. Of course I'm not sure what the level of demand is...I just had to post this response as soon as I heard her say it was $375 to state this, and the fact that - for the same reasons I assumed 375 was reasonable for ONE night - I actually think it sounds like the best deal a train enthusiast can ever get!!
@@GLovesTrains My wife who happens to be called Eden, is not aware where we will be later this year. Not too far from Manchester! I have never done the famous railway viaduct. Great video, you can thank Dad Rail who mentioned you, so here I am!

@@GLovesTrains My wife who happens to be called Eden, is not aware where we will be later this year. Not too far from Manchester! I have never done the famous railway viaduct. Great video, you can thank Dad Rail who mentioned you, so here I am!
Brilliant vlog of one of my favourite places. Hope you had the opportunity to see some of the other marvellous sights on the Settle and Carlisle line.
Thanks! It's a beautiful line!
