They also offer the possibility to protect your login via a securitykey - highest 2FA standard - and other competitors don't offer that.

I love what they do except the two things that keep me from using it exclusively as my main service:
1. Lock-in: no import and no export. You come with nothing and you leave with nothing. Also no local backups.
2. Bad spam filtering. Not sure why so many others don’t seem to have that problem, but once I use my own domain, I get false positives every day. My old domain is getting them, sure. But a good mail service should be capable of filtering them out. And they are super spammy. Like BTC, bank account phishing, fake fedex, etc
So far I use Tutanota as my 'primary' email so far as it's what I'm signed up to most things with, especially sites where I make purchases. I do still have several Gmail accounts for various reasons like for work (or job applications), but Tutanota's the one I'm checking everyday for my personal use.
For this reason I don't really have an interest in import/export, and I can't say I have issues with spam filtering myself. It probably depends on your type of usage, so I can see why this would be off-putting for you if you're being badly affected. However if you're interested and have the time, maybe you could try changing a couple of basic shopping accounts that you use regularly (e.g. eBay or Amazon) to Tutanota? I started with small steps like that before fully committing, so I think it's a good way of testing the water :)

Why there’s no a way to reach tutanota customer support?? I keep getting two spam emails and I reported them as a spam but keep coming 🤬

Its free, but I found out they delete your email if you haven't log in for 6 months. yikes
6 months isn't too bad my isp's free email service deletes after only 3 months which is a no go for me.
Why would anyone want to use an email service with a 6 month gap?

Yeah I've been a little busy training up on the technical side of animation (working with Toon Boom Harmony) and will be moving to start a new job soon. I do have some half-finished videos though that I just need to get motivated to return to, so hopefully that happens sooner rather than later :)

How is that Tutanota's fault? Isn't spam because of where you go and what you do with your email address? I'd like to know how Proton Mail stops it
"a recovery code which you have"? please elucidate for i have NOT received any recovery code to alter the correct password i entered to try and start easily using tutanota. first all the email addresses i chose were "invalid". then when i finally managed to get an email address approved and tried to log in using the password i created and noted carefully with it in front of me i was refused access and informed the login details were "invalid". now how "easy" do you consider that experience of never having been able to even start easily using tutanota?
