I love this. But I want to let everyone who sees this comment who is black that you can be the ballerina aesthetic. You can be a dancer. And a successful one at that. I hope that this world had more representation for us black girls who struggled deeply with our status and identity in dance. Keep making great videos luna.
this comment!
Could not have said it better!!
I'm Mexican. I remember the day I saw in Mexico a black ballerina with hot pink ballet shoes, and a hot pink attire, my jaw dropped. She looked so powerful and amazing, no one could hold a candle to her. I saw her for like ten minutes about 15 years ago and to this day the image is still in my mind. She was mesmerizing, beautiful, words can't even begin to describe her. I wanted to be her so badly. The world needs more black dancers, they are another level of beauty, grace, power and strength IMHO.
Ty
💯
i love how people like the aesthetic, but as you said, its so hard to watch when people put models in pointe shoes or buy them off wish, etc. its so hard to watch people misrepresent ballet into a little kids thing, but this video is perfect!! thanks so much luna
totally!!
Lunas big 3
Rising: Serena Van Der Woodsen
Sun: Paris Hilton
Moon: Avril Lavigne
That’s the vibe she’s constantly giving me
I agree with Rising Serena and Moon Avril, but I think Sun Paris Hilton doesn't quite fit... What about Sun: Hailee Steinfeld ?
Yessss
There are a lot of issues around ballet core but this video does a really good job of explaining it! Super cute!
agreed!
There really aren't any issues. If you dont like parts of it, or what it represents, dont do it. But don't tell other people what they should enjoy or connect with.
My mom was youngest principle ballerina in Canada became it at 16 when she joined Alberta Ballet!! I got all her old clothes as I’ve grown up and I love it!!! Love ballet hence why I love you Luna and your channel it’s a big part of who I am🤍
Omg what’s your mum’s name?
@@hydrogenandhelium her name Is Barbara Moore (Coffey) but she went my just Barbara Moore when she was dancing.
@Isla Mcnamara yes many actually haha
@Isla Mcnamara no way that’s so cool!! I’ll have to let my mom know she still has fans out there haha..which magazine was it if you know?
@Isla Mcnamara wow that is so cool she was on that one!! Very very cool 😎
as a young aspiring teenage balleriana i have gained so much inspiration and learnt so much about self-love, body image, fashion, and fun throughout your videos. I look back on all your vlogs and they make me smile, knowing that I'm not alone! Thank you for being you! Will forever cherish your advice and the way you love everyone! 💕🩰
The pale comment rubbed of a little wrong especially as a black ballet dancer.
The last outfit I've literally worn to class minus the long leg warmers and moon boots 😂😂😂 who knew this was actually fashionable to wear around town 😂😂
luna, we are a bit dissapointed about the blemishes and skin tone/paleness comment. you of al people, as a person who taught classes for young teens should know that we struggle a LOT with acne and blemishes and acne scars etc and often times stress about how it "ruins" the "daintiness" and your comment simply perpetuated that!! :( ++ the comment about paleness? not all of us get to afford "healthy" paleness and plus, what about people of color in ballet? you've been tone deaf :(
There's a lot of misconception, misrepresentation around ballet in general, so thank you for explaining it 🤍 Btw every outfits were so cool omg, thank you for the inspo 🤍 !
as a dancer I still think I’ll learn a lot from this video😭
You are so amazing, Luna. You have actually made me interested in ballet, which I would never have thought possible. If you can get hold of the BBC documentary Dancing the Nutcracker: Inside the Royal Ballet, I think you'll find it really worthwhile and interesting. It was on TV here (UK) at Christmas and it was absolutely riveting.
I watched that , it included the training and behind the scenes it was so good . I started ballet when I was 3 and then quit when I was 9 and recently I joined ballet again bc Luna made me really excited
what do you mean saying to fit in ballet core you shouldn’t tan? i mean, so to be an aesthetic ballerina “you’re allowed to be pale”? like if was an issue to white people like you. latinas, asian and black (and all people that don’t have pale skin) can fit in ballet core too, the commentary that you made was soooooo unnecessary and gross. :)
i started ballet 6 months ago and I'm 21! love you and your content Luna
I wanted to start ballet but I couldn’t find adult beginner classes
i was literally thinking about how I wanted to see more ballet content yayyyyy
a little shocked by the pale comment
I enjoy Lunas videos been following her for years.
I'm not a ballerina but since I was small child I lovedd the idea (still do as an adult) of ballet, I'd beg my mom to take me but she never cared.
the moon boots were cool and reminded me of those bloch warm up booties
I JUST REALIZED YOU’RE LIKE A MIXTURE OF JULES AND CASSIE. And the video is immaculate as always😌✨❤️
Who?
@@abigailh7715 I think they're talking about jules and cassie from euphoria
I am also a brand ambassador for Monica Vinader! I love it! I’m so glad you were able to work with them Luna! Love your ballet videos! I’m a ballet dancer turned Swing dancer! I love watching ballet performances! I recently saw Atlanta Ballet’s Giselle it was amazing!❤ I’ve always wondered what your favorite ballet is!
queen of balletcore
“You should probably have no blemishes”?
you for real? like it’s something one can control…
And makeup is magic
@@writtenbymb if you have acne, makeup doesn’t erase it completely, texture will still show through the makeup. I’ve been struggling with adult acne for years and sorry but this comment from luna just doesn’t make sense.
i wasn’t expecting such bad attitude from you, Luna, since i really like your content, but that comment about skin tone really disturbed a lot of people.
Ahhhh i love your video, editing and your talking style, and this! I love ballet and balletic fashion, so this vid is perfect for me i love you luna 🌙✨
luna is literally glowing
"you should probably have no blemishes" ouch.
Obsessed with the process of making an aesthetic
I love ballet core, cause it gives me ideas of outfits for beginner college ballet class, since none of us wear a leotard and tights lol😭
omg i love this, i'm totally gonna wear some of these pieces to my dance classes!
This is ALL about the ad!
ballet aesthetic >>
Ive always loved ballet
This is my first dislike I've ever put on Luna's video. I love ballet, I love Luna and I love everything you stand for. But I don't like how it was put in the video that in order to fit into ballet core you shouldn't self tan or things about how much better it is to be paler. As an Asian who used to be a dancer I struggled countless times to cope with how my skin doesn't match the color of my shoes and tights and fought tirelessly to get accepted as a tan dancer all through. I think it might be better in the future if luna could address that and bring positivity for different skin color as well, in addition to all sizes.
--it's been a few days since this has been brought up. I also followed Luna on instagram and tried to raise this concern with her and it's really disheartening that she's been ignoring all efforts. The fact that she posts about how the comments on the other video was great and not say anything about these concerns is kind of sad. Most of us know Luna probably didn't mean it in a rude way but the fact she avoids speaking about this video's comments makes me sway on my opinion. In her earlier videos she talked about listening to the fan's concerns and that's how she grows and I admired her for it. I am 7 days apart from her in age and I thought I grew because she grew. but if she's becoming an influencer that can only dwell on the positivity and praises and ignore the rest she's growing into the california controversial youtube stereotype and that makes me really sad I'm losing a good role model.
Agree! So disappointing from Luna. I guess she’s not as good as we thought..
i completely agree and i had to replay that bathroom scene to make sure i heard everything right... it was completely unnecessary and extremely thoughtless tbh and idk why she would have included that in the video. ballet and “ballet core” are for everyone, regardless of skin tone, blemishes, or size!!
as a black girl i was so shocked but the lack of attention on this is more surprising to me…
Absolutely. I’m a person of color and when she said “if you really want to get the aesthetic”, you can skip the tanning, my heart dropped. I can’t “skip the tan”- I was born with brown skin. Growing up in ballet, I already felt different because I was darker than the other girls in my classes and wasn’t tall and blonde like them. Her comment was very hurtful to poc and I hope she addresses it.
I am also shocked to read every comment thanking her for bringing light to « misconceptions and misrepresentations around ballet » when she didn’t mention racism, anti-feminism and mental illness associated with ballet once in her vid. I know she’s talked about eating disorders and anxiety in the past but as this video might appeal to new viewers I was hoping to hear her talk about it, but she didn’t.
Amazinnggggg give us more of theseeee! Just discovered you amazing style girl
Just found this video & these outfits 🤌🏽 also you’re so pretty! 🧚🏼♀️
I really really love this vlog 💗
Aren’t you supposed to disclose sponsorships?
Technically she did it’s in the subscription box but I feel like it was slightly misleading and shady that she didn’t say it straight up
"no blemishes" *laughs nervously in acne and acne scars 😀*
not all ballerinas are white/pale 😬
She never said that all ballerinas are white and pale. She meant that if you are pale, don't feel like you have to tan.
@@simfimpim that’s literally implying that if you’re pale/white then you fit perfectly into the ballet “aesthetic” lol🙃 an aesthetic or style is for anyone who loves it, regardless of clothing size or the tone of your skin. You know there’s people who can’t “skip the tan”, and for someone to imply that if they don’t have pale skin (which is not something they can change), they don’t fit into a certain aesthetic they love, it’s problematic and hurtful
@@sofiacastilblanco9605 Different forms of dance have/had certain aesthetics due to the origin of the dance. Ballet originated in Europe. Other dances like hip hop or Bharatanatyam, originated in the Bronx among black and Latino people, and India, respectively. These types of dance have their own aesthetics at well. As these forms of dance expanded outside of their origins, the aesthetic expanded. Not all ballerinas are white anymore, just like not all hip hop dancers are black. I think people on this thread are implying that Luna was racist for saying what she said, when she was either referring to the aesthetic origins of ballet, in which pale was an aesthetic, OR she just meant don't worry about having to tan if you have pale skin. It's really not that deep.
@@sofiacastilblanco9605 Everyone who enjoys ballet feel free to do it, regardless of body type. But professional ballerinas need to fit into a specific body type, because being a professional ballerina is an extremely elite profession. There is a certain look for ballet, and that look is long, lean limbs, delicate bone structure, and yes, slim. That is just how it is. Anyone can do ballet but not everyone can make it professionally. Other dance forms and sports too also have their own body type specifications.
@@simfimpim i’m a mixed ballerina and her comment really rubbed me the wrong way cus i’m alr insecure abt it and it seems rly offensive
It’s nice to see ppl adore the ballet aesthetic & I’m glad that ppl view ballet as a lovely, elegant art. But it literally freaks me out and cut my air supply when they put models in ballet costumes and pointe shoes and do it the “wrong” way. Like they tie the ribbons up to their calves and didn’t tuck in the ribbons or simply tied it as a 🎀… that’s so annoying 😂😂
Love all your outfits ideas!! Thank you 💗
You are SOOOO AMAZING Luna! 😍😍😍😍
wait, did she really just say that for ballet you should have no blemishes? As someone that has struggled with acne for what feels like my whole life and has also danced my whole life (including ballet) ... ouch :( .....
Ik , I love Luna but some of the things she has said in this video are not on x
@@sophiebrewer4337 100% agree
Oh, I took that as sarcasm / a comment on how it’s another of the unrealistic appearance expectations that ballerinas are kinda expected to meet…
Always a struggle as to whether you wear makeup to cover your acne and sweat it off anyway or just don’t bother 🙃
@@sophiebrewer4337 also that you‘re ‚allowed‘ to be pale? More like it‘s preferable if you‘re white and pale. 😐
People need to stop being so sensitive. Not everything is about you. Anyone can take ballet, but hardly anyone makes it their career (expect for teaching) because the competition is so fierce. Art forms are allowed to have standards, and specific aesthetics. I don't have the best skin either yet I wasn't offended by this because I understand what she means. Since a more delicate, natural look is preferred for ballet, obviously having no blemishes is a plus. That's all she meant by it.
Cute cute cute outfits!

I LOVE U LUNA
i rly wanna dress like that😭
I love her video so much!!!!
drink every time she says dainty
I love this!! I love that there are actually so many cool sub genres within ballet core aesthetic and even if you are an actual pro dancer or just “want to play one on TV” 🩰🩰There is either a more sporty or dolled up vibe -I especially love how you can go from super baby pink & ribbons to all the black bc I just love both tones completely thank you for this video it’s awesome you looked amazing in all the outfits
I have been accidentally dressing kind of like this for about 20 years!!! I just handmade leg warmers from the leftovers fabric after I cut my skinny knit pants into bike shorts they were too cool to get rid of so i upcycled the legs of the pants & made leg warmers!
Where’s the babypink cardigan (last outfit ) from ?? I have been searching it everywhere 😭
DARLENE CROSS OVER CARDIGAN by bloch
i love ballet and balletcore but im sooooo tanned 😭😭
honestly that comment was so uncalled for, especially when there’s so many poc ballerinas out there!!
noooo luna, you cant give away discount dance
all the non-ballet people are gonna ruin it 😭😭😭
ik im actually not happy she did that still love her tho 😭
@@jadynbonewitz why does it make you annoyed? Not attacking just genuinely a question! ❤
@@libbyt2581 i'm only speaking for myself here but i've noticed that when things become "trendy" and demand increases, retailers increase pricing because they know the stock will sell regardless and they can maximize their profit. i love that resources are being publicized for people who don't have a lot of context but i just have a gut feeling that an already expensive industry is just going become more and more expensive because non-dancers are buying stock for the aesthetic and making ballet essentials less accessible to dancers who already could barely afford it
@@lemonpurplebasil do dancers typically shop at the same places as non-dancers tho for their dance clothes? I have no idea but I would have thought you might prefer to go for the clothes that are made for the purpose and are therefore functional, rather than the stuff you can get in fast fashion stores, which are affordable but trend-focused less durable and maybe less suited to something as strenuous as ballet? Or is it not that deep lol do you just wear whatever is comfy and contributes to the aesthetic for the sport?
I love this😍
Haha both me and my sister are ballet dancers, And whenever we see a picture of people with point shoes laced all the way up wer'e both like NOOOOOO WHaT The HEcK Are U DOIng 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
LOVE YOU SO MUCH
Hi! When are you going yo continue vloging the move in process or the final result?
ok now i need a pair of moon boots
lunnaaaa 🤩🤩💕💕
Having mixed feelings about this. I've never heard about the concept of ballet core before, but I would definitely find weird that someone in the street would be dressed as my 7 years old ballet students. But this has something cute at the same time.
You think ballet has something to do with being 7?
@@ceasarsaran8573 no, absolutely not :) but usually when you grow up and still practice ballet, you tend to wear less pink (at least in the country I am living and teaching, I know that different countries do have different dance wear trends).
So for me, pink ballet clothes are something more related to kids (my little students actually wear pink leos and pink leg warmers and pink skirts, which is adorable).
When I was a kid myself I used to love these too, but wanted to wear dark leos like the oldest girls in our conservatory.
Hi Luna love your videos, but I thought you would advertise your Luna range jewellery more.💋❤️From Australia 🇦🇺
disclose sponsor?
I miss ballet so much and love everything about it, but I think ballet core in public looks so ridiculous.
im black 😜
You look amazing always and love your happy bright Sprit always xoxo 😘
Hahaha as a former ballerina I still wear my shrugs all the time. And now that body suits are a thing, I can pull out those cute leotards
is it just me or does she look JUST like cassie from euphoria
luna yay!! is it weird that even though i don't do ballet i want to dress like this lol
I don’t think it’s weird lol I do this but I know my place and don’t overstep boundaries (like I would never buy pointe shoes because the amount of hard work they put into to be able to wear them ) and I acknowledge that I’m a poser lol I feel like as long as your respectful to ballerinas they don’t mind at least from my experience
Never been this early, love it
why didn't you use your own jewelry 😭 that would've looked so cute with these outfits!!!!
Question to all dancers: how the hell do you fix a leotard if it fits perfectly everywhere BUT leaves horrible panty lines on your butt if you wear pants over it? Thanks hahaha
Personally I have yet to figure that out. As a dancer, we usually wear leotards under or over our tights. Their purpose wasn’t necessarily to be worn under pants so those hard panty lines are very visible if you decide to wear them over yoga pants or jeans. But if anybody else knows a hack for that it would be good to know bc every time I walk to dance class out and about I always get insecure 😂
What were the pillowy pink boots in the intro scene? :)
Have not started the video yet, but im a dancer and the words "ballet core" are so cringy plus me and my friends just where a hoodie to class soo
I can relate.
I kinda agree :/ idk. I like the style, but it is over romanticized. I wear a hoodie to ballet to lol
@@davie8497 for real!
I don’t do professional ballet but if I wore one of these outfits to class people would stare at me 😂
Yh do you do professional ballet ? Maybe this is more of what ballet dancers in hard core training wear
where is your pink warmup romper from ??
Please tell me the brand of your pink legwarmers! I need them for ballet class but can't find them on discount dance.
Ngl when I heard balletcore I thought they meant ballerina's abs lol
