    A big unit like that and they put one of the most cramped drivers cab on the market lol.

    • @Mechknight73
      @Mechknight73 10 лет назад

      Look a little closer. The truck itself is about twice the width of an ordinary truck that pulls trailers on any highway in the world. The cab is the standard width of a road truck. It would be no more cramped than any other truck cab. To me, it looks like they started with what might be a MAN cab, and adapted it to bolt onto this monster.
      On some mine sites in Australia, we have a similar arrangement pulling road trains of ore. They resemble a bonnet cab Kenworth, but they're also twice as wide as a normal road truck

      That's Renault Premium cab. Very cramped :)

    • @Mechknight73
      @Mechknight73 10 лет назад +4

      I used drive a Mercedes Atego and an Isuzu FRR prior to that. Both cabs would be smaller than this, but how does Renault do it that makes it cramped? I'm an average 5'10, not built like a weed, but neither truck felt even remotely cramped.

    That's a really low power output from such a large cube engine - Volvo and Scania both produce standard road going haulage trucks with engines producing 750hp and 730 hp - and both are producing 2600+lbs ft of torque, all from 16.1 and 16.4 litre engines.. this thing by comparison should be pumping out at least 1500hp..

    Dear Sir,
    I am somewhat surprised that this company now owned by a German company cannot find a Diesel motor in Germany where companies such Man, Mercedes Benz or M.T.U amongst others could more than likely rise to the challenge & dare I say offer something possibly superior to the Caterpillar engine. Kind regards.

    • @primus.interpares
      @primus.interpares 3 года назад +1

      Perhaps they picked the CAT-engine due to better spareparts availability in the markets these trucks are sold to mostly?

    • @dilipbaumier1327
      @dilipbaumier1327 3 года назад

      @@primus.interpares Dear Sir/Madam,
      Thank you very much for your comment; I am more inclined to think that they got a better deal as they recently purchased the company. Simply couldn't refuse what looked like a more lucrative deal on paper.. M.A.N along with other German automotive makers all have an exceedingly well established network throughout the world. There isn't a place on earth where you cannot fix & repair a Mercedes or M.A.N ( even in third world countries). CAT on the other other hand does not make commercial trucks ( more into heavy earth moving & construction; oh & I forgot their boots!!!). But you could be right; I think it's much more profound than just that. Kind regards.

    • @primus.interpares
      @primus.interpares 3 года назад +2

      @@dilipbaumier1327 Thanks for your kind comment, Dilip! Now that you mention CATs heavy earth moving equipment: It could be just that reason for the mining industry: To have vehicles in operation, which share quite a lot of engine spare parts, saving costs for spare parts logistics this way. Best regards, Stefan

    • @dilipbaumier1327
      @dilipbaumier1327 3 года назад

      @@primus.interpares Dear Sir/Madam,
      Thank you very much for your comment which does make sense financially but I suspect there is more to it than just commonality of spare parts. If said company ( Tractomas in this case ) has been acquired by a German company, there is a strong possibility that maintaining a relationship with CAT is way more profitable than to source a new supplier of Diesel power units. Also on the subject of commonality; have you not noticed that sometimes certain vehicles are identical despite sporting a different brand name? Surely what is the likelihood of 2 come 3 or more factories making exactly identical vehicles? Or the other option is using the same chassis & bolting on differntly shaped articles to further bring the manufacturing costs down. Look at Lamborghini cars ( with Audi V10 engines), Volvo 4X4 (with Yamaha engines), the list is endless where manufacturers find more cunning plans to reduce their overall costs down to an absolute minimum & thus maximising profits. It doesn't stop at the automotive sector either, most aircrafts today ( as in Boeing for instance) source a lot of their parts from different countries around the world ( from Turkey to mainland Europe & beyond). But as you rightly pointed out commonality of spare parts is also a major concern for manufacturers. Trust this helps. I am somewhat surprised that no one bothers to look into Rosenbauer monster trucks ( ruclips.net/video/LpU2WpnN1yU/видео.html) &/ Ginaf ( Ginaf.com) or last but not least: ETF trucks( 8 axles, 32 wheels) Kind regards.

    • @primus.interpares
      @primus.interpares 3 года назад +1

      @@dilipbaumier1327 I think, as far as the engine of that Tractomas is concerned, CAT just had the right package with their engines. Sure, Mercedes-Benz has very nice engines, but 27 ltrs with 1000 BHP? Not that I know if... Look at MAN: They built the so called Kat A-trucks (8x8) for the German Army, but the engines were coming from Deutz. MTU is famous for large Diesel-engines, but these are used on tanks or ships or large generator sets. Not sure if they have engines for heavy earth moving equipment or such heavy tractors in their range at all. CAT is quite specialised in this field, so Tractomas was well advised to stick to these engines, even after they were sold to the Germans, I think.

    50 kmh für einen Road trains ist doch keine angemessene Geschwindigkeit, in Australien fährt man doch mit 80-120 mit solchen gespannen. Wenn auch die Trailer nicht so groß sind. Trotzdem gibt es dort Varianten mit angetriebenen Trailer, wie die gesamtLeistung deutlich über 1000 Ps liegt. und 65 kmh solo hört sich auch nicht beeindruckend an. Warum werden da nicht mehrere Motorvarianten eingebaut? Es gibt deutlich stärkere Aggregate, auch von Cat.

      Да что толку сравнивать машины с 30-ти и более летней разницей ? У нас например выпускают те же самые МЗКТ 74132, которые по 400т тягают и это серийная машина. Nicolas работают исключительно по заказам, так что в Минске за приемлемую сумму сделают более достойные аппараты, тем более что есть опыт производства машин с мощностью до 1800 л.с.

      Ja die Kabine ist wirklich nicht die Schönste. Da hätte man wirklich was ansehnlichheres nehmen können.
      Entweder das, oder man hätte auch die Kabine selbst fertigen können so das sie den Fahrzeugkonturen, besonders der Breite des unteren Teils, angepasst ist.

      Eine eigene Kabine macht aus meiner Sicht da echt keinen Sinn. Ihr müsst bedenken, so ein Tractomas ist in Relation zu "normalen" LKW eine absolute Kleinserie und in dem Kundensegement zählt die Leistung wirklich noch mehr als das Design. Webei das natürlich auch immer relevanter wird. Aber am Ende des Tages müssen diese Trucks abliefern.
      Viele Grüße, André

      Ja schon klar, wie gesagt, das hätte ich persöhnlich so gemacht. ISt natürlich klar das hier Leistung vor Schönheit geht und das ist auch okay.

    BTW: If you think that the Tractomas is huge... take a look at our Video of the Liebherr T284 --> 4.000 Horsepower: ruclips.net/video/B2xZA-QljQk/видео.html

      Yes, we all know that but the Liebherr is not made for the roads, the Tractomas yes ! See the difference ?

      Sure, you're 100% right. But I was just referring to dimensions and raw power ;-)
      Looking at your name: Check out our little test I did with the Unimog U5023, not as big and powerful either, but very versatile: ruclips.net/video/lgGhcdFTGiI/видео.html
