I fall timber on the west coast for a living so I basically live with an axe in my hands but I’ve always carried it in my wedge belt but when I’m out hiking in the woods camping or whatever I still like to take a smaller axe with me and this is a handy trick when you need to free up your hands I’m a big advocate of if it’s important it needs to be tied to your body ie compass knife axe things of that nature when I went though land navigation in the marines I quickly learned that the best way to not lose critical equipment was to tie it to your person then you can’t lose it without losing yourself

I hear timber fallers are the most fit, strongest people because of all the walking up mountains with a chainsaw, and axe.... You must be hardcore! I hope to hook up with my local loggers when the Chinese invade Oregon. We will need to drop trees/power poles across the roads and set up sniper nests to slow them down a bit.

@@jeffersoncarlisle3125 I wish it was that easy but honestly todays loggers are pretty soft compared to when I was a kid everything is done with machines and they have conditioned air with nice heaters and stereo systems it’s still a demanding job at times but not like it used to be

@@weregecko Sorry they sent all the good stuff to Ukraine and left a bunch in Afghanistan , so you're going to have to get creative. Block the roads with anything you can get your hands on. You're not going to have fuel for joy-riding so forget about the inconvenience. Bremerton, Washington will be nuked and the Chinese will land on Oregon beaches. They own five US ports and have millions of tons of equipment and personnel here already. The cartels will be coming up from the south, Wagner style, to establish Atzland. Even George Washington was given this information. You can search "George Washington's Vision" to find out about it. This is what the Chinese One Child Policy was about. Boys were preferred over girls and now they have hundreds of millions more men than women. Their obvious expansion option is the West Coast of North America: California, Oregon, Washington and British Columbia. They will probably start the draft up here first and send most of the fighting age men overseas before it happens, and disarm the American population as much as possible. The globalists are done with the USA being the world leader and are in the process of dismantling it.

Great idea, and it will definitely free up mobility and dexterity. Though I will say one thing, as I have seen too much stupid shit to not give a warning. Put the ax head away from your back so the blade is not facing in towards skin. Basically the exact same way he tied it, but the edge should be pointing down and out from your body. You should not see the line coming up the handle when looking at it from behind. This would make this particular sling trick, shoulder specific. Either way, head down, blade down, edge out.

Good tip. Me personally? I prefer just using a pseudo scout style carry system and lash the axe scabbard to the bag I carry, then tie a loop of cordage onto the other side of the bag loop to form a handle brace. That way, all I need to do is release the closure and pull up and forward to draw my axe from it's scabbard. Keeps everything secure, and if I need to adjust it out of the way, all I need to do is swing my bag in back of me.
Differential preferences aside though, I do use this shoulder strap/ lanyard rig method for when I use walking sticks, and it works wonders for me.

I mean...🤷 I don't know, it seems like a good idea for people who need it. But considering I'm always wearing a belt when I walk off into the woods, I just usually tuck my tomahawk into my belt at my side. So this seems like it's for people who don't wear belts. And no, I don't wear a belt to hold my pants up because I buy pants that fit me, I wear a belt for this very reason. Because my bekt can carry my knife, tomahawk, folding saw, and a few other things. I just find that wearing a belt makes a lot of things more convenient.

Good idea in general, but I don't like that, although the head is sheathed, the edge is still pointed toward your spine, and would probably be swinging as you walk, banging into you. I would prefer to carry it with the head on top and the edge pointed outward (similar to an arrow quiver). But hey, personal preference rules.
