+Allon Jones I think it's for financial reason. An upgraded F-14 (Fly-By-Wire, latest avionics...) would be more expensive than the Super Hornet.

That's a high AOA on approach, none the less, you got the job done!
Thanks! This is like that with this aircraft model. I did the approach with full flaps at about 130 Kts with a vertical speed of about 300 ft/s.

@@AeroSid I'd like to thank you for taking your time to make these videos and responding to questions. Very informative! I'd like to ask your thoughts on the TAC PAC (ability to drop ordinance) for FSX with the planes Dino Cattaneo makes. I believe the command to see it is F3 or F4 while in the tomcat. Also I was wondering if you have tried DCS and what your thoughts are on it? Thank you again for your time! Be safe and take care!
@@STREETLIFE167 I haven't tried the Tack Pack. I'm quite sure DCS is much better for combat. I haven't tried it yet.

Pure realism?
2 tips.
1- Get that ship moving. (AI Carriers, which I'm sure you have!)
2- Open aircraft.cfg, go to section "TurbineEngineData" , find the line: static_thrust: (change the number to 45.000 lbs)
This will give you the enough power to make realistic take-off's, where the aircraft doesn't plunge after leaving the deck. (You'll also fly way faster too of course) Make you sure you adjust the [Reference Speeds] section in the aircraft.cfg too (max_indicated_speed &_mach numbers) in order not to hear the "overspeed" alarm.
I give props for anybody landing that tomcat on a carrier. When I'm doing CQs in vLSO I have a tendancy to settle the last hundred yards and get called to "wave off" every time. Nice video.

Carrier Quals...and there a great addon for FSX called vLSO. You get guided down the carrier exactly like the real pilots do. You even get a grade after landing and it's aligned the same as in NATOPs! Check it out at vlso.blogsot.com.

Reply to Nick Koenig: I used the flaps on takeoff. If you look closely, you can see the wing leading edge extending.
Congrads on figuring out how to manually place the carriers and use the differant support helis. I'm still working on the configs yet but I'm still loving the add on !

Aero Sid So far, just the two at Norfolk. And as you know only one of those two capture. Trying to find AI's is a little difficult even with the schedules. That's why I jumped on TeamTDB's Enterprise add on. I downloaded the gauges package but have yet to get the config add on to make My own positions. I want to get one of the early 80's TDB carriers to stop in place so I can get an FSX recording from the outside ? I have not dug into the conf. file yet. It's too hard running FRAPS and trying to land from the outside LOL !
***** Come on men! Forget the FSX default carriers scenery. Get "AI Carrier 2" and Javier Fernandez's Nimitz class carriers on simviation.com. They will change your FSX life!
Aero Sid I'm digging the team SDB carriers. They have a ton to offer. I just picked up Sunday so I'm still just working out the add ons. I will check out "AI Carrier 2" and see what that's like I'm sure. Thanks.

The F-14's cockpit is very simplistic for it's size, power, and task.
I'd bet that is a very easy plane to fly.
+Fubar AlAkbar That's right! The wing geometry is controlled automatically and the RIO behind the pilot operates the radar, the radar guided missiles and bombing.
+Fubar AlAkbar Well, the Cattaneo F14D is relative easy to fly and knowing it's for free its a incredible beautifull plane But when it comes down to flight characteristics the Aerosoft F14A and B is far more realistic, and so that's another story.

This is a pretty good video, but there are a few things I'd like to point out - 1) the carrier shown is not Eisenhower, its USS Nimitz (CVN-68). 2) the elevators are a bit slow, they normally only take about 10 secs to cycle, not 20, 3) the F-14 (inc. the D model) cannot land on the boat with 2 ext. tanks & 4 Aim-54. the landing weight is too high. Believe me, I know. But hey, its only a sim, right? Just my 2 pennies.
Hammer Hanrahan Usually, I use the CVN69 but it looks like I selected by mistake the CVN68 for the recording. Currently, the time to wait before the lift moves is even worse. It takes 1 min. 20 sec.
Actually it probably can land in that configuration if the bags are empty. As far as i know, they never drop them unless completely necessary.
Bring back the F14tomcat
Your supposed to dirty up when your abeam with the carrier about 1.1 nm, not on the 90 or the final.

No, there's no truck in this add-on
Not very realistic. First the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower is assigned to the Atlantic Fleet. Secondly the air wing insignia depicted on the the tail sections of the aircraft are not of the Atlantic Fleet nor of an Air awing that was ever assigned to or deployed with the Eisenhower. I'm an alumnus of that ship. I served in V-2 division and made 3 deployments while assigned. You need better research.
Realistic means it could be real. This video is a realistic fiction

You have to wait for the lift to come down to the hangar. Then push back your aircraft to the lift and wait for it to go up to the deck

Came in much too heavy. AOA was too much. Always come in with air brake deployed to keep the engines spooled. Is the wing sweep computer controlled in the sim?

Hi Aero Sid! Nice Video! How did you move the tomcat to the elevator without engine-power? You´re able to do a pushback by pressing shift+d, but how is it possible to move the aircraft forward?

33flyboi I use FTX Global, REX, and I adjust contrast and luminosity. In next videos I will also use ENB Series.
If thatis an AI Carriers addon you are using, please indicate how to tunethe TACAN fo rt the carrier. I cannot tune tacan for the AIcarrries with any aircraft.
TACAN : 57X. Or VOR/ILS frequency: 112.00 MHz.

I don't trigger it. It just occurs. I suppose it's periodic

i have ai carrier 2 and whatever i do i can't see it. also when i save a flight on the carrier and try to load it the carrier is invisible
