Other than the standard hardware to take off the face mask and the little insertable pads is the Only thing that you have to do Is pull out that innerliner? And was it relatively easy to reassamble? Acrylic Urethane - that is the "paint type" according to the shop that filled the spray can. This is the same type of paint that USC was using in their public youtube video, showing them re-spraying their college team's helmets.

This is good for a display helmet but not for anything that would see action. This is a good way to void the warranty and increase your liability if the helmet were to fail.
@@Megachad all that means is people are wiling to put the integrity of the helmet at risk to make it look good, instead of paying a professional to do it right. Just because you could, doesn’t mean you should.
@@gtrscort1 Dude, the helmets are literally painted from production. The vicis helmet had a layer of paint that I sanded through.. If i was worried about the integrity of the helmet I wouldn't let my son play in it.. there is no difference from the way the helmet came from the factory. The paint is water based paint. Paint is no longer solvent based. So that isn't an issue like you think it is.. Get over yourself.
Does painting with an automotive paint void the helmet warranty I was told to never paint a game use football helmet because of the materials used in the helmet I was wondering if was BS I was gonna send in for color change by oem
Everyone on youtube will tell you not to paint it, yet colleges and nfl paint their helmets all the time. I can't tell you yes or no. I am not an expert, but as far as I know all automotive paints are water based not oil based anymore. Also, the vicis helmets ive dealt with came "painted" the color is not in the material, it is paint.. So it's already been painted from the factory.
how did the speedflex turn out? the one you painted with the volvo white? I need to spray paint my blue speedflex matte black and the facemask black for my new football team. Will automotive paint or regular home depot spray paint work better?
Update. I painted it with rustoleum matte black (paint & primer ready) and the facemask rustoleum flat black (paint and primer), sanded it down with 220 grit, used wax and tar remover from rustoleum instead of tinner or prep all. Taped off the threads and the warranty sticker along with the other warranty stickers in the inside. Did a light coat, heavy coat, and other light coat to focus on smaller fine details. Came out great, 1 slight paint drip on the back but we're here to play football not to look pretty.
Yo, i was wondering if this voids the warranty? secondarily was wondering if it is super necessary to recondition the helmet every two years, thinking of getting one of these out here in the UK and finding certified reconditioners is impossible
I'm not sure there is any warranty on any helmet? I would assume it would void any warranty. I have no idea on reconditioning. I only painted the helmet to match the team color.
Painting a helmet on your own will void the warranty. The warranty is 5 years on all helmets. You also risk liability in a helmet not painted by a NOCSAE certified reconditioner. Annual Receritification is a recommendation from the manufacturers. Not following the recommendation will void the warranty, and add to liability exposure.

No. It worked out great so far. 4 games in the season and all the practices.

face masks hate paint.. im not sure it matters what you do, it will peel pretty easily.
