Yah I dont really care for all this fancy graphic games. I did not like the final fantasy remake and in fact enjoyed the original with its old graphics far better. Yes, consoles are becoming too expensive not just up front but over time now with online play, etc costing extra money a month. Gaming itself is starting to collapse mainly due to bad games (full of bugs or just bad games) and Paid DLC for everything. When DLC first came out 99.9% of it was free. It was a way for devs to keep people playing the game and making more money by getting people to buy the game. Now games have gotten so bad I rarely buy a "AAA" title and if I do its on a deep, deep discount. Console gaming doesnt not offer such discounts for the most part and the experience is getting worse. Also GAMES AS A SERVICE is really hurting gaming as you dont really own that game, you can basically spend thousands of dollars on that game just to have the company shut it down whenever they want, never to be played again. This is the main problem with everything, even the streaming services. They are tricking you into NEVER OWNING ANYTHING. Most people I know are switching to PC gaming, as older games they own still work along with newer ones. The prices are becoming the same up front and over time PC gaming is way, way cheaper. I used to be a console only gamer, I owned the Atari 2600, 400/800/ST, Dreamcast, NES, Original Xbox, Playstation, etc. all the way up to PS4, Xbone. After that I switched to PC gaming and have never looked back.

Some fair points but I can't agree with everything. Specifically, you spoke of digital distribution almost as if it was the same as streaming/cloud gaming. I definitely agree that any streaming service gaming you do can at any time be taken from you, but beyond that it's not so clear. I have lots of digitally purchased games over the years on my Switch, 3DS, Wii U, Xbox One, PS4, etc, and the only way I am losing those is if any of the big companies broken into my house and took those physical consoles from me.

Already saw it coming more than 10 years ago. PS2 was my last console and I've gone full PC since. I never regretted it. The indie scene is even more vibrant on PC. There are still options to avoid DRMs (including very legal ones, even if those tend to only exist on said indie scene now). And having games stay alive beyond 5 years basically happens only on PC, with stuff like Starcraft and Age of Empires 23, which still have players to this day. And cloud gaming? Always will be a fad that never truly works. Lag is unavoidable, and big cloud services are hitting their head into the wall of raising energy prices. So much so that if current trends continue, the current ability to share video online for free might be threatened. Indie games on PC. This is the way. There, it's possible to escape all those bad trends, and enjoy more innovative experiences to boot! Sure, you have worse graphics, but does that really matter that much in the end? Cartoon and low poly have their timeless charm!

I stopped caring about AAA gaming a long time ago. Indie games have been the future for a long time. Great stuff. No paid DLC. No microtransactions. No lootboxes. Own what you buy. Yah I dont really care for all this fancy graphic games. I did not like the final fantasy remake and in fact enjoyed the original with its old graphics far better. I still like nes, ping pong, and snes games. Im not so interested in graphics anymore, its all the same thing. Yes, consoles are becoming too expensive not just up front but over time now with online play, etc costing extra money a month. Gaming itself is starting to collapse mainly due to bad games (full of bugs or just bad games) and Paid DLC for everything. When DLC first came out 99.9% of it was free. It was a way for devs to keep people playing the game and making more money by getting people to buy the game. Now games have gotten so bad I rarely buy a "AAA" title and if I do its on a deep, deep discount. Console gaming doesnt not offer such discounts for the most part and the experience is getting worse. Also GAMES AS A SERVICE is really hurting gaming as you dont really own that game, you can basically spend thousands of dollars on that game just to have the company shut it down whenever they want, never to be played again. This is the main problem with everything, even the streaming services. They are tricking you into NEVER OWNING ANYTHING. Most people I know are switching to PC gaming, as older games they own still work along with newer ones. The prices are becoming the same up front and over time PC gaming is way, way cheaper. I used to be a console only gamer, I owned the Atari 2600, 400/800/ST, Dreamcast, NES, Original Xbox, Playstation, etc. all the way up to PS4, Xbone. After that I switched to PC gaming and have never looked back.

Some fair points but I can't agree with everything. Specifically, you spoke of digital distribution almost as if it was the same as streaming/cloud gaming. I definitely agree that any streaming service gaming you do can at any time be taken from you, but beyond that it's not so clear. I have lots of digitally purchased games over the years on my Switch, 3DS, Wii U, Xbox One, PS4, etc, and the only way I am losing those is if any of the big companies broken into my house and took those physical consoles from me.

Already saw it coming more than 10 years ago. PS2 was my last console and I've gone full PC since. I never regretted it.
The indie scene is even more vibrant on PC. There are still options to avoid DRMs (including very legal ones, even if those tend to only exist on said indie scene now). And having games stay alive beyond 5 years basically happens only on PC, with stuff like Starcraft and Age of Empires 23, which still have players to this day.
And cloud gaming? Always will be a fad that never truly works. Lag is unavoidable, and big cloud services are hitting their head into the wall of raising energy prices. So much so that if current trends continue, the current ability to share video online for free might be threatened.
Indie games on PC. This is the way. There, it's possible to escape all those bad trends, and enjoy more innovative experiences to boot! Sure, you have worse graphics, but does that really matter that much in the end? Cartoon and low poly have their timeless charm!
