    I have been taking a coaching program about perspective, and here is one thing I have learned. We are the subjects that often obsessively look at our objects. What we forget is that there is a layer of conscience past the subject and object, which is the perspective of the director. Think of your life as a film. When you are limited to just the film and its twists and turns, you will twist and turn with it; however, when you are watching the film, even if its a horror film, you will enjoy it… because your perspective is beyond what justs what happens in the movie. Think of the film as your life.

    At my age, I have known this concept for many years and I continue to strive to find meaning for my life, only to sometimes have events/problems shatter that meaning. Then I must find new meanings. I have made radical changes, a few times. Thank goodness I'm an independent and flexible type of person, but I've been humbled a few times ( I know of my insignificance) . I enjoy your videos, you give me a lot to think about , although sometimes I disagree with some of your content ( I tend to see things more in grey shades). I arrived at this video through a link you gave to another commenter and after having watched several of your videos today. The video in which you provided "a reading list" made my heart sing. I studied Latin in High school and Jurisprudence as part of my law degree ( Scotland) and my interest or more accurately my passion has always been the Arts - terminology will vary across countries - the Humanities perhaps? And philosophy is the number one. I was a mature student because of life circumstances not worth enumarating and it was always my desire that one day I would fulfill my desire to follow that path of study. I have torn my bookshelves apart trying to locate my copy of Seneca without success 🤷 a librarian i am not. But perhaps it was a version that was "adapted" and I want the original. Yet again my circumstances prevent me commuting to St Andrews to fulfill my dream and now by the magic of RUclips I have stumbled upon the most gifted of lecturers/ professors however it's expressed in the US and it is a happy day! Serendipity! Which I know from scraping around on the outskirts throughout my life will transform my life. I don't know why I feel compelled to share this with you but I do. I was in teaching myself for 20 years plus my own degree and many more people I have listened to and never heard such an erudite speaker - without Ego - making the content supreme. I am looking forward to my journey - someone said "when the student is ready the teacher will come" - I should have googled first to see who said that 🤷 I have Hope - the essence of life - as Frankl discovered -from this most
    fortunate discovery. I'm going back to the video of books to make a list. Thank you so much for your content. 😊

In terms of finding the right person to live the rest of your life with or being able to afford to buy a home or making and creating long term relationships with other people. To me these are the things that are damaging us the individual! Not being able to attain the 3 basics, Home, Love and Family is what has left us all submissive and lost! Thank you for sharing another video. From “Man’s Search for Meaning”, Victor Frankl, was in a privileged position as a person with a medical degree in the camps, this made his skills more indispensable than others’. One of the main viewpoints that I took from his story which I found profound & unique was that he was able to hold love for his family but also recognize that he could build another family in the future if he became free again. Of course, other viewpoints such as the one you mentioned, as well as his ability to live in the moment (i.e. sharing how he would appreciate the sunset even amongst the death and abuse), show an amazing amount of wisdom. But most people cannot hold love and appreciation so separately from possession, and this bit I think about quite frequently as guidance. Once again thanks for the wisdom shared here and opening up the discussion. God bless 💗

    Thank you for your thoughtful content. I really look forward to it every time you post, and funny enough I wrote exactly about this in my philosophy term paper this semester. I aspire to live up to your example, I have to say.

    I've been thinking more so each day with greater agency about the little things and to what really matters, the spectacle of one's life in youth is fleeting. I have a lot to be grateful for. Working on one's self and being easy with that self with major life changes is the true challenge. We are a species that can make great strides as a whole or be quite self destructive, your thought process is very appreciated here and is always mindful. Thank you 🖖

    connecting the dots and realizing that we human beings cant be God. If we could, there would be no uncontrollable things, we would not need to react to certain situations but only act and produce our own situations that suit us and etc… We are not independent. Our existence is very dependent on the existence of the Independent.

    Ironically, this video is full of external beliefs that are being pushed onto people. To tell us that we can reach divinity, you are doing what you accuse external belief systems of doing, lol. You're not alone in this though, and I do not say this with any animosity. I love this channel. It's just always ironic to me that views like this are presented as somehow neutral when really they're far from that. Love the vids, keep it up

    Why do you think that the virtues we ourselves have created would be the "highest" form of values available?
    And don't you think the concept of those virtues which is "the good" is religious in itself and therefore doesn't fit your goal of pursuing a meaning that is purely rational/non spiritual?

    While choosing to pursue being "god instead of animal" sounds lucrative and might serve as an eye-opener, let us not think that way too quickly. Mind being, afterall, bound to body in a relationship which can be altered, but not effaced. To ovelook this would most definately lead to a great suffering of the mind.
    Let this also be a dislcaimer for us as humans, who seem to have a weak spot for playing gods.

    Jesus is the Way the Truth and the Life. Without Jesus you will keep looking for meaning all your life. Once you found the Truth you have peace in your heart. You will feel it. Try it right now you got nothing to lose;
    “Almighty Holy God even if I don’t believe in you right now, please let this prayer be one that changes that for the rest of my life, come and enter my heart, come and conquer my soul with your love and touch my heart with your truth, flood me with your never-ending love and your eternal grace in Jesus name, Amen.”
    See how you feel after that, repeat the prayer a few times and meditate on those words, see what happens and believe God is real and He loves you so much, I pray for those who try it to have God open their eyes in Jesus mighty name, amen.

    There is an intellectual or perhaps spiritual skill some people have for keeping ahold of the thread of what is important even in the midst of an overwhelming amount of information, and then communicating clearly about that thing without distraction. Emerson was very good at this, Socrates in the early Platonic dialogues, some others. The William Stafford poem “The Way It Is” seems to be about this sort of skill. It seems like a rare thing. But you seem to have it, and it makes your videos really encouraging to me. Thanks for sharing these with the world. I wonder if you have thoughts on Husserlian phenomenology, Wendell Berry, or the Upanishads. All seem to be somehow adjacent to your thinking and your project in one way or another.

    Most people age but some people do mature. I think that’s meaning for me. However, I don’t experience my individual mind as the highest and it seems irrational to me to discount the transcendent experiences of many people.
    There is a higher mind. It can be experienced and known. That is a higher meaning for me. I don’t worship rationality.
