There is a Brazilian book called "36 Days." It is an account by the author who survived for 36 days alone in the Amazon rainforest after his plane crashed in an uninhabited region, with the nearest civilization 400 km away. For those unfamiliar with the forest, Brazilians affectionately call it the "Green Hell." It is so dense that it is nearly impossible to walk without cutting a path, extremely humid, and incredibly hot, with a flora and fauna that are very dangerous. Throughout the book, he constantly complains about the rain. It prevented him from sleeping and made walking very difficult. Among countless problems such as hunger, thirst, lack of shelter, and the danger of being killed by wild animals, what he complained about the most was the unbearable rain. After 36 days, having lost more than 40% of his body weight and facing numerous challenges, he finally finds a camp of castanheiros, families who go deep into the forest to make a living by harvesting Brazil nuts. After a few hours and having contacted his relatives, he talks to the mother of this family of castanheiros. She tells him, "You are very lucky." He responds, "Lucky? Why?" She explains, "We weren't supposed to be here. We moved to this area because the place we were at a few days ago flooded due to all the rain, and we had to relocate to continue our harvesting." The summary of the story is that the thing he hated the most during those 36 days, and would have given anything to stop, was what ultimately saved his life. Be grateful for everything, even the problems, because they might be the ones to transform your life and help you grow.
Thank you so much for sharing this. It’s really interesting and eye-opening! Could you please tell us the author’s name? Has the book been translated into English? I googled it and didn’t find anything.

This video argues that our constant struggle to attain desires and avoid unwanted things is mostly self-inflicted and can be stopped immediately by changing our perspective. Drawing on insights from Meister Eckhart and Seneca, it suggests that suffering stems from our attachment to external things. I experienced a magical response to detachment/surrender in the Paris airport. I was in a massive barely moving customs line between flights with 1.5 hours until boarding cutoff and realized after the first hour of stressful waiting and not even half way through the line, I would be missing my flight. you’ve helped change my perspective, i’d lie, cheat, steal, endulge in senseless pleasures putting off my future self, manipulate. my conscious was begging for help and you answered all my questions, everything that will ever come of us happens from right now, tomorrow will always be tomorrow but it really is now or never. thank you for your contributions to this society, i look forward to every post you share. thank you for being you
Beautifully explained! Basically, ' Amor Fati'...the love of one's fate, accepting and embracing everything that happens in one's life, including suffering and loss as good or at the very least necessary. I found this teaching after losing my 22 year old son 4 years ago. In Many ways it saved my life. Since that time I have experienced even more "loss" and find it doesn't always get easier to do. You would think any suffering compared to my sons passing would be significantly easier to apply this teaching to my life, but that isn't always the case. Attachments come in all forms and even seemingly mundane ones have deep roots in our identity and ego. Im finding in my own life, this is a PRACTICE... and surrendering sometimes takes time and alot of self love. ❤
The calmness with absolute gems from different sources, with profound logic and talking about things touching the nerve…what more could be but divine help. Thank you human angel, I needed this.
Your talent for calmly and simply translating all this wisdom and guidance in life’s many pathways makes it pure pleasure to listen in each week made all the more evident by all the appreciative comments from your subs. Thank you and looking forward to the live!💯
Your videos are now a part of my night time routine. They're so refreshing and feel like I'm attending a lecture in uni haha. I really enjoy un-winding at the end of the day and learning about new ideas to challenge my previously held perceptions feels like the perfect way to end the day. I've never sat down to study Philosophy and know only a little about the key philosophers, so I really enjoy your videos.
You are speaking the spirit of my favorite Bible verse: James 1:2-3 says “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” Even if things are hard and it seems that we’re not seeing God’s promises fulfilled, we can “Stay Strong” knowing that He is still working all things for our good!
Despite your frequent comments about it, and our focus in these videos on personal growth rather than external factors, I still want to congratulate you on reaching 100k subscriptions! It's great to know that your message is reaching more and more people. Thanks for uploading these videos each Wednesday.
@@acceptingtheuniverse I just finished the video. Yesterday I wrote, but still, I keep the habit of watching the videos in the morning, so i just watched it today. I'm quite excited about the streaming!!! Will see you there.
Watching this video only a couple of hours after it was posted makes me think it was sent to me by the universe. I'm midway through my med finals and I've been dealing with burnout and conflicted emotions that's been difficult to navigate through. This video has told me things I needed to hear long ago. seriously thank you.
I’ve been falling asleep to your videos every night this week, they’ve been therapeutic. And I just so happened to discover your channel at a time where I’m personally changing within. Thanks for the content!
Regarding your increase in followers, you mentioned at the end and of which I became one today. I think it is the result of an increasing need for depth and meaning again. Of thoughtfulness and even spirituality, for ideas that actually mean something and offer some challenge to the mind.. in a world consumed by witticisms on X, short nonsense clips on TikTok etc. I am a 55 year old man in Sweden who admires your content, and finds it interesting to follow you, as well as see some of your older material as well. Thanks!
Listening to you talk reminded me of this verse "But perhaps you hate a thing, and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing, and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not." (Quran 2:216) Sometimes, we may resist or dislike certain situations, responsibilities, or decisions because they are challenging or uncomfortable. However, these experiences may lead to personal growth, spiritual development, or protection from greater harm. For instance, someone might dislike a particular job or responsibility, but that very role might provide the stability, experience, or opportunities needed for future success. Conversely, we might be attracted to things or people that seem desirable or enjoyable but ultimately lead to negative consequences. This could be in the form of unhealthy relationships, materialistic pursuits, or habits that seem pleasurable but are detrimental to our well-being or spiritual state. It reminds us to have faith in the greater plan and to seek guidance and patience, knowing that our understanding of what is truly good or bad for us is limited.
"Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is mystery. Todayis a gift That's why we call it the present." "Accept it as if you had chosen it" These are very insightful and powerful teachings that bring peace and grace and open the door to that which cannot be named. I appreciate you sharing your wisdom, and the wisdom of others before you.
As soon as you said “accept everything as if you desired it and prayed for it,” I wrote it on my mirror. What a powerful way of thinking, it’s just what I needed to hear
I am very grateful that I have discovered Your YT channel. The wisdom that You share with us is very underrated. I had a lot of suffering in my life. But Your videos help me to focus my mind on a life - timeless truths and keep inner peace inspite of circumstances . Greetings from Poland ❤
Who is this beautiful man speaking beautiful words? What a blessing to stumble upon your video and channel. Just what I needed today. Thank you for sharing.
The problem with this stoic philosophy of surrendering/submitting is that you never know what you can and what you can't change. You'll be surprised how powerful we actually are in shaping our reality.
What he means or well, what I had understand is that the stoic and all others lines of thought works on that critical moments trough life, making the capital production and human value apart of it
Perhaps that's where discernment plays a part? Certainly applicable to moments of acute distress where one's ability to effect change could be hampered or even distorted into fueling an unfavored reality. Helps avoid the feedback loop of limiting beliefs that can result from trying to fight against circumstance and thus give you more time to discern and shape your reality as you see fit.
We are powerful to change our reality. But we lessen our divine ability to do it, if we don't surrender to the obstacles in the way. See if you waste 12h hours fighting against what you can't control, what's left energy do you have to shape what you want in your life. I just realized this now with absolute certainty. Surrender is the prerequisite to powerful manifestation.
This is the truth, in a nutshell. I’ve never liked the idea of giving up, not fighting, but I can see if I don’t surrender, then I have to fight indefinitely, and like you say, miss every moment. Maybe that’s the resist not evil that Jesus speaks of. That is so hard to understand, but I think you and the other philosophers have cleared it up for me. And, SO excited about the livestream. Congratulations on your subscribers! Thank you so much for these videos.😊
your calmness and other humanistic emotions also evoke what I feel in my inner self. Being spaced in the greatest way to see the world from another perspective requires new skills that we've been trying to deep into more. thanks for this video.
Funny little synchronicity- I have to return to the DMV on Monday because I lost my patience with the long line last week. I’ll remember this. Love what you’re doing here. 🙂
It’s a blessing that you share these words with us it really helped me through a lotta hard times and gave me a better understanding and point of view, I’m grateful thank you
Chinese and East Asian philosophers described the concept as "wu wei" - true happiness comes from accepting life as it is. The farmer's horse runs away. "Oh that's bad!" exclaim the neighbours, but the farmer says "No, it is neither good nor bad." After a time his horse finds its way back and brings along many wild horses which the farmer can keep. "Oh that's good!" "No, neither good nor bad." Trying to ride one of the wild horses, the farmer's son falls and breaks his leg. "Oh that's bad!" "No, neither good nor bad." A war happens and there is conscription, but the son is injured so he is not drafted and is safe from the war. Which seems good? But the lesson is - things that seemed bad were good, and things that seemed good were bad. So better to accept life without ascribing 'good' or 'bad' to what happens.
I am so glad to have found this channel. Such profound ways of thinking. Anything external is a struggle. When we can accept that the only change is within can we progress towards nirvana. The pure essence of our true nature is but a coin flip away (to examine the other side of a coin when we have only seen one side of it), and yet we have yet to pick up that coin to see what may lie on the other side. We live perfectly content with the struggles, even enjoying the struggles. But what if we asked what other existence is there that I have yet to tap into? The struggles are absolutely necessary and act as a catalyst to begin living a life of purpose.
Ooof. Mic drop. Wow! Mind blown. 😄 My apologies, my words have escaped me… Your delivery of the information rendered me speechless. The preciousness of the message and the timing. That was beautiful. Life is beautiful… 🥰Thank you! 🙏

Rant: People keep telling me I have to shift my mindset to deal with my depression better and I have been trying hard to keep thinking positively, but over the past weeks, I have gotten worse and I don't even know why. My routine hasn't changed and is actually what has gotten me through the winter and I was feeling quite happy. Not so much now. I know when surrendering has helped me already. DB (Deutsche Bahn - German train company) is always delayed and at one point I was thinking to myself, why I keep checking the time and feeling tense, because I cannot do anything to get the train moving. It has helped a lot to calm down and relax in those moments, knowing, there is nothing to be angry about. Thank you for your videos.
I struggle with it myself but begin to see all obstacles as a lesson and a way to grow. Patience is the hardest to learn now but gradually all things fade away in it. When you smile at death it smiles back at you.
Thank you so much for this. I prayed for a sign and I know that this is it. I ve realized so many things while listening to this and I am extremely grateful for this video.
Eckhardt’s Mystical Sermons astonish me. Sermon 1 provides the context for positioning ourselves, our mind in a space beyond the time-stream in order to ‘maintain a wholly God-receptive attitude.’ In doing so, we waive our limitations in favor of the protective care of God, where there are no limits. “Here, in time, we are celebrating the eternal birth which God the Father bore and bears unceasingly in eternity, because this same birth is now born in time, in human nature. St. Augustine says, ‘What does it avail me that this birth is always happening, if it does not happen in me? That it should happen in me is what matters.’” It goes on to talk about where in the soul God the Father speaks his word, where this birth takes place and where she is receptive of this act. “When all things lay in the midst of silence, then there are descended down into me from on high, from the royal throne, a secret word.” This sermon is about that word. Thanks for your work!!
After losing a child last year n losing a very very good job this year n moving back to our country after 14-15 years leaving best friends, my kids friends n our house n my child’s grave behind I felt so lost but this is what God wants me to listen to. It’s beautiful ❤ thank you.

You have a profound speech and i get inspired and hope to be as wise as you are
Not quite. If I don't like something, but I can easily change it, it doesn't cause me much suffering. Meanwhile, things I don't like but can't change cause great suffering. So suffering actually comes from being unable to cause a desired change.
Earlier today, I was just thinking about letting go and accepting life's events and circumstances without attempting to control them and your video pops up. Thank you for the great video.
but we are born with virtue. we only lose it when we start believing in lies. starting with the lie of our imperfection. the truth doesn't need anyone to believe it to exit. lies do. and the truth will set you free (to find virtue again). great channel my dude. thank you for your service.
that's such an interesting perspective. I've believed that virtue is something that you had to earn. I don't think I 've ever considered that virtue is something you can be born with until now. Like virtue is an innate human quality we lose and shed over time instead of nurturing if we aren't careful.

Learn the alchemy true human beings know
the moment you accept what troubles

Welcome difficulty, as a familiar comrade.

Attachments come in all forms and even seemingly mundane ones have deep roots in our identity and ego. Im finding in my own life, this is a PRACTICE... and surrendering sometimes takes time and alot of self love. ❤
This sounds more like Maulana Rum, or Rumi as called. The famous sufi poet in Persian.
Beautiful comment. I admire your strength.
@@monkeyseemonkeydo2597 aw, thank you so much!🥰
We need a constant reminder of these essential concepts... embrace what ever comes... so deep. Thank you for taking the job. Gracias !
The calmness with absolute gems from different sources, with profound logic and talking about things touching the nerve…what more could be but divine help. Thank you human angel, I needed this.
Thank you for being among us , i feel happy knowing men like you exist
"Give me the will to will what you will". That line will remain with me for good. Thank you
Your talent for calmly and simply translating all this wisdom and guidance in life’s many pathways makes it pure pleasure to listen in each week made all the more evident by all the appreciative comments from your subs. Thank you and looking forward to the live!💯
This is so peaceful - the silence, the way you talk ...its like a cocoon that made me feel safe and secure. Thank you!
Thank you Will, much appreciated.
30 year old girl from Nepal & God knows I needed this wisdom in life. Gods will . Thank you! New follower
Thanks!
Thank you for the kind words and I agree with you that there is a need for these ideas. I'm glad you see value in them too.
Listening to you talk reminded me of this verse
"But perhaps you hate a thing, and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing, and it is bad for you. And Allah knows, while you know not." (Quran 2:216)
Sometimes, we may resist or dislike certain situations, responsibilities, or decisions because they are challenging or uncomfortable.
Spot on; thank you for being here
"Yesterday is history.
As always, thank you endlessly for these videos 🤍
As soon as you said “accept everything as if you desired it and prayed for it,” I wrote it on my mirror. What a powerful way of thinking, it’s just what I needed to hear
Man, wish I was dumb enough to readily accept such platitudes.
I am very grateful that I have discovered Your YT channel. The wisdom that You share with us is very underrated. I had a lot of suffering in my life. But Your videos help me to focus my mind on a life - timeless truths and keep inner peace inspite of circumstances .
Greetings from Poland ❤
When I was homeless I figured out this way your speaking of. I was always alone and always studying people although I have learned so much from you
Who is this beautiful man speaking beautiful words? What a blessing to stumble upon your video and channel. Just what I needed today. Thank you for sharing.
Perfect timing, watched with my mother. She’s been a struggling addict for years and this hits home for her.
All the best
We are all addicts to something. Hang in there lad.
This is one of the best videos I watched on your channel. This channel is truly a gem. Thanks!!
Much appreciated.
Your aura is incredible. I love this place of calm wisdom amidst a world of chaos.
A beautiful video to set an end to victim mentality.
Yes!!! victim consciousness is truly our enemy
True
We are powerful to change our reality. But we lessen our divine ability to do it, if we don't surrender to the obstacles in the way. See if you waste 12h hours fighting against what you can't control, what's left energy do you have to shape what you want in your life. I just realized this now with absolute certainty. Surrender is the prerequisite to powerful manifestation.
We can only change our mind and mind thoughts. We can’t change anything outside of us
Perfect message for me. I needed this. Thank you.
Tremendous acceptance of what is now, I am so grateful for these videos.
I truly agree. We create our own destiny. Thank you. I love your videos
Would you say that to a child dying of a terminal illness? Or their parents? Grow the hell up
I just love how calmly you explain complex things which makes it so easy to understand
Funny little synchronicity- I have to return to the DMV on Monday because I lost my patience with the long line last week. I’ll remember this. Love what you’re doing here. 🙂
It happens to all of us, really. I always call long lines "the line of eternal torment 🙄" lol
I bring a book & small folding chair to sit & read in line, so the line moves how it moves but I have the book!
This is one of those rare videos that is going straight to my favourites playlist.
I send your vidos to every one I trust and love. I can tell they do not connect with them as much as I do. I’m very grateful for you and your content.
You don't waste people's time. You just drop real wisdom. Thank you.
I’d check out the livestream! Your videos always make me think and want to expand my awareness. Thank you
It’s a blessing that you share these words with us it really helped me through a lotta hard times and gave me a better understanding and point of view, I’m grateful thank you
You've no idea how life changing this video is for me at this time in my journey. I can't thank you enough.👣
I needed this today. Live in the now. People used to say that in the 60s and 70s. Makes so much sense. Thank you.
That title is right. I am struggling right now because i want to. I still see some benefit to it.
“Give me the will to have the will to do Thy will.” 🙏💜🙌
You've been my favorite youtuber for a while man, please keep spreading your wisdom.
also excited for the live stream!
I believe the Universe brought me to this video at the exact moment that I needed to hear this exact message! Thank you for that wisdom .
Chinese and East Asian philosophers described the concept as "wu wei" - true happiness comes from accepting life as it is.
The farmer's horse runs away. "Oh that's bad!" exclaim the neighbours, but the farmer says "No, it is neither good nor bad."
After a time his horse finds its way back and brings along many wild horses which the farmer can keep. "Oh that's good!" "No, neither good nor bad."
Trying to ride one of the wild horses, the farmer's son falls and breaks his leg. "Oh that's bad!" "No, neither good nor bad."
A war happens and there is conscription, but the son is injured so he is not drafted and is safe from the war. Which seems good?
But the lesson is - things that seemed bad were good, and things that seemed good were bad. So better to accept life without ascribing 'good' or 'bad' to what happens.
this is great👌🏻
What wonderful content. Thank you so much.
The struggles are absolutely necessary and act as a catalyst to begin living a life of purpose.
how can you talk about such philosophies in such a calm way? without any unnecessary attitude or clickbatish transitions. Wonderful!!
Ooof. Mic drop. Wow! Mind blown. 😄
My apologies, my words have escaped me…
Your delivery of the information rendered me speechless. The preciousness of the message and the timing. That was beautiful. Life is beautiful… 🥰Thank you! 🙏
I thought I was doing better this past weekend. Then got down mentally Monday & physically sick the last 2 days. Needed this video as a great reminder. Thank you ♡
Rant:
People keep telling me I have to shift my mindset to deal with my depression better and I have been trying hard to keep thinking positively, but over the past weeks, I have gotten worse and I don't even know why.
Opportunity to advance urself that line summarised my life situation tysm ❤
This is such a profound life changing message! Thankyou so much for your work!
Thank you for the kind words.
Congratulations on 100k subscribers 🎉 and we will happily wait for your live stream.
This was a beautiful speech and has helped me transform my current situation of what I would've called a loss. Thank you
found you recently, digging your content brother.
Much appreciated....timeless words hitting the mark at a perfect time. Thank you for putting this out.
"I step onto my misfortune and as a result I stand taller." Banger.
Thank you so much for this. I prayed for a sign and I know that this is it. I ve realized so many things while listening to this and I am extremely grateful for this video.
Your topics are so genuine!
That it should happen in me is what matters.’”
It goes on to talk about where in the soul God the Father speaks his word, where this birth takes place and where she is receptive of this act.
So very sorry for your loss 🖤
wow. much love to you.
i dont know if youll ever get to see this but i found u when i was going through a tough break up, and ive been watching each of your videos ever since. i hope all the blessings come your way for sharing your thoughts and ideas onto us here, and adding to our knowledge. You have a profound speech and i get inspired and hope to be as wise as you are
Perfect timing. Thank you.
All of suffering is contained in the thought, “I don’t like what’s happening.”
When we embrace what is, misery lets go of us.
Not quite. If I don't like something, but I can easily change it, it doesn't cause me much suffering. Meanwhile, things I don't like but can't change cause great suffering. So suffering actually comes from being unable to cause a desired change.
it is very easy to tell people to not worry when they are poor when you never been poor
Thank you! Never stop surrending is my mantra or "pick your battles", specially with so many external things we can't control! Thank you!
Grateful to hear you sir...tq for this.
Commenting because this video helped change my perspective on a struggle I’m enduring in my life.
Earlier today, I was just thinking about letting go and accepting life's events and circumstances without attempting to control them and your video pops up. Thank you for the great video.
I admire the way in which you articulate yourself. Thank you very much for sharing your findings, good sir.🙇
but we are born with virtue. we only lose it when we start believing in lies. starting with the lie of our imperfection. the truth doesn't need anyone to believe it to exit. lies do. and the truth will set you free (to find virtue again). great channel my dude. thank you for your service.
that's such an interesting perspective. I've believed that virtue is something that you had to earn. I don't think I 've ever considered that virtue is something you can be born with until now. Like virtue is an innate human quality we lose and shed over time instead of nurturing if we aren't careful.
@@reeti88 thank you, fren. If I may suggest another "life-changing" book - on this little and infinite corner of the internet: "The voice of knowledge" by D Miguel Ruiz. Knowing that someone would really appreciate it, is fulfilling on itself. (Audible version is amazing). Everyone in the world deserves hearing! It explains this truth better than I ever could. Have a nice day!
I have always known we are here to become like God. This really resonated: "Give me the will to will what you will". Powerful! Thank you for starting this channel. You look like Ville Valo from the Finnish band HIM. Cheers!
A sincere Thank you 🤍
