Assembly of LEGO bricks using a FANUC M-1iA Delta robot

What can be more exciting than building LEGO blocks? Well, how about doing so with an innovative parallel robot such as FANUC's M-1iA industrial robot?
LEGO bricks are made to extremely tight tolerances and assembling them with a robot could be a challenge. FANUC's M-1iA industrial robot has an innovative six-axis compact design. Its parallel structure allows this Delta robot to attain very high speeds, while maintaining excellent accuracy.
Integration and programming was done by Jérémy Brouillard, an B.Eng. student at the ÉTS, as part of his final-year project. He did the project from A to Z, starting with a robot that was still on a pallet and finishing with this video.
