I agree about this song of Pat's - and I'm glad you liked the descant. It was inspired by a hymn I sang growing up. The words in the first line, "We are living, we are dwelling, in a grand and awesome time," come directly from the hymn. However, if I remember correctly all these years later, the word used in the hymn was actually "awful." I decided that it probably meant "full of awe" and substituted "awesome" which in this day and age would come closer to the intended meaning.
What a great addition to a BEAUTIFUL song!!! I love the song (who doesn't???) and this descant really adds something to it.
nice descant! lyrics:
We are living
we are dwelling
in a grand and awesome time
we can worship
we can cherish
all the ones we live beside
What more to say it was great thanks pat and lou annie hassett

I learned this in Rochester NY at turtle Hill
Lovely, I think this is the best cover I've heard so far. Thank you for posting the lyrics as well.
Thanks so much, so glad you liked it!
I have loved this song, especially your arrangement since I heard it on NPR years and years ago. Thanks for enriching my life.
