@@turnoffthedarkarchives whys that? Was he supposed to play him before they found reeve?
@@mr.zombie3221 No one was cast in the play at that time, but often times people who were likely going to be in the show were brought into workshops. Jim Sturgess and Evan Rachel Wood (the leads in Taymor’s film, Across the Universe) were called in to do a reading work for the play in front of Marvel executives and investors. This was because Taymor had both of them in mind for the roles of Spider-Man and MJ. Ultimately, Sturgess lost interest in the project, and Wood was cast, but dropped out after many delays. In this case, Caplan, T.V. Carpio, and Anisha Nagarajan participated with Bono and the Edge in the musical workshop (which was apart of the 60 Minutes interview). It is likely Taymor always had them in mind for the play, as Caplan went on to play Flash Thompson and later Peter Parker/Spider-Man’s understudy, and Carpio went on to play Miss Arrow from the Geek Chorus and later Arachne. Of course, Nagarajan never ended up in the show, so it’s possible she had interest in a role but later dropped out.
