My definitive playthough of the StarCraft 2 Campaign Collection trilogy and Nova mission pack. Each mission video will be a walkthrough explaining and executing strategies to succeed and obtain most achievements on Brutal difficulty. All dialogues, cinematics, and story-related material will be at the end of each video.
In some cases I omit completing Mastery achievements that would require a separate playthrough detracting from a full showcase of the mission in question.
Achievements completed this video:
Hero of the Storm - Deal 7,500 damage with Artanis’s Lightning Dash ability on The Infinite Cycle mission.
Bane of Their Existence - Kill 20 units with Spawned Banelings in The Infinite Cycle mission on Normal difficulty.
"Yes, but that is irrelevant". That one line makes this expansion for me. Alarak is the boss!
Darth Alarak: The Protoss Dark Lord Of The Sith.
He was definitely channeling Q there!
Alarak, the very definition of an edgelord in Starcraft and fully embraces it. He's fucking awesome.
Darth Alarak: The Protoss Dark Lord Of The Sith.
@@夏神帝晉神帝司馬-公 Not the hero the Protoss wanted but the hero they NEEDED.
He's literally my favorite character. His personality and his skills set is just awesome. Vorazun too.
It's actualy nice to see kerrigan having her ass kicked a bit in the first cutscene , does help seal the deal that yes, hybrids ARE threats and very powerfull. A much needed reminder since at this point you've been destroying them by the dozens with your armies in missions.
Also the twist that the XEl Nagas were (mostly) dead all allong and the prophecies were (somewhat) wrong was very satisfying. Predictable because of course it would have made a very short game if they had been alive and could fix the situation with a snap of their tentacles just like that but still satifying.
Also do like the xel naga design, it's suficiently alien (even if lots of tentacle is a bit lazy way to do 'alien') with a little dash of emditch, crustacean squid gods, I aprove.
With Lovecraft's Seal of Approval
Amon is basically's Cthulthu or his strongest Starspawn.
It's admittedly difficult to make a biologically feasible alien species without taking some liberties from things on our own planet. Until we encounter an alien species, who knows what they will look like really. Hopefully they are NOT lovecraftian haha that would be very bad to see most of his cosmic entities in real life. Squid were good enough for mass effect's species to create synthetic reapers which eventually killed most of them. Thats sort of the vibe I get from the xel naga
just love her getting her face kicked in after the garbige HoTS game
John DeLancie as Alarak has to be one of the best castings in all of gaming
24:30 Lets be honest, this is the part your all waiting for. Best character in LoV by far!
I like Vorazun, she is really relatable. If Artanis had died here I think that Vorazun would have had a decent shot at saving the sector. She might not have unified the Protoss but I think she would have wiped out Amon's servants, she was even willing to sacrifice Shakuras.
Hell yes!
Both he and Tychus are the best characters of this trilogy
John de Lancie (the guy who also plays Q in Star Trek TNG and Voyager) did a great job voicing Alarak.
Alarak and Q really seem to share some personality traits.
He even plays Discord in the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which is basically also a Q-like entity that has enormous magical power and snaps his fingers to bend reality.
He is type-casted.
2:15 Damn. They're not even trying to be subtle anymore
The orange and the green/blue is the Purity of Essence and Purity of Form, Essence being orange and green/blue being Form.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Dream team indeed, the only one who is missing is James Raynor
Kerrigan Artanis become friends (but not really) CO-OP missions
like if you get the reference
I get the reference but i wont like bc you beg for them
Pretty sure her and Karax become friends.
@@limeangelo6019 It's called Cliche not Begging.
@@MaskedImposter I know I'm making a modified reference. P.S. I've seen the episode (it's one of my favorite)
Well referenced, brave servant of the emperor... or deranged slave of chaos. I can't tell lol.
Man, someone should just tell Artanis to get a flashlight. Just imagine having to hold your arm up like that every time you wanted a light. Talk about shoulder pain.
If Raynor were there he would light it up with his four (count em') flashlights.
@@reginaldsafety6090 Terrans being hundreds of years ahead of the pro-toss with wearable light technology is both absurd and funny. All the protoss have this elaborate sets of armor on and choose to engage in melee combat despite their technological advantages in weaponry, and then they don't even have a part of it on the shoulders to shed some light . hahha. Imagine if they just adapted their zealots blades into plasma long range weapons. Even more strange is taht its the dragoons, teh stalkers and the immortals who are all dead spirits of protoss that finally throw in the towel and start using guns.
I would really like that every Coop Commander would also be a hero on the field like Artanis here. I really like him, a shame he won't go off his ship and mess things up.
I said it on the other video he was in as well. but Wooooo Alarak! Best character in this campaign. His edgy sarcasm is hilarious.
3:45 Oh good, they turned on the lights.
21:56 Aaaand it's dark again. Come on guys, make up your mind!
It's not like the zel naga can pay the electricity bill anymore, you know...
@@jlqe3401 Maybe Amon was just a landlord who couldn't handle his tenants anymore.
Dumbledore was waiting at the train station beyond that gate... They could'nt reveal it due to content infringement...
Will team dream team be returning for Heart of the swarm 3 player coop?
2:30 Hulk vs Loki flashbacks.
Compared to how powerful she was at the end of Heart of the Swarm, she definitely lost a few steps in between.
According to the prophesy, the terrans could actually also be purity of essence because terrans are capable of great change. This could also work into Kerrigan being both terran and zerg, both races being capable of great change.
It's pretty funny to think about it, when you watch the entire sequences they basically say that the Xel'naga seeds life all over, all kinds of life forms. But that eventually two species emerges by universe, that represents purity of essence and purity of form as they evolve. And that together they become a new Xel'naga to shepherd the cycles all over again. And Terrans being earlier in their development, could still technically become either. They're able of great changes and some have started to become powerful psionics, as in the ghosts. Pretty interesting to think about honestly.
This is one of the few things in the retcon'd lore that I found actually interesting, the hint that the Terrans were supposed to be one of the actual inheritors of the Xel'naga, rather than the Protoss or potentially even the Zerg. Ulnar's sensors, however they work, don't actually seem to target a specific, predetermined species, but rather search for a set of specifications/requirements that have to be met.
Of course, the problem with this is that it flies in the face of what these cut-scenes and this level shows us with the murals and dialogue. Because it implies that the Xel'naga knew Amon would interfere and uplift the Zerg and Protoss - so much so that they knew Kerrigan would be infested by the Overmind and be crucial to stopping him. If this is true and they knew Amon would betray them... why did they not do something to stop him directly and essentially just let him kill them in their sleep? Because otherwise if they _didn't_ know this, then the murals with infested/primal Kerrigan and the Protoss don't make any sense at all.
The Overmind seems to have wanted the Ghosts and Kerrigan to explicitly break the prophecy and create his own ascendant in the form of Kerrigan, using the most powerful Ghost as a substitute for a Protoss.
2:19 she’ll revive at the hatchery in 60 seconds, no worry.
Kerrigan- kills Aldaris, kills Fenix, corrupts Matriarch Raszagal leading to her death and kills unknowable numbers of Protoss. Artanis- sure let's be friends. Artanis didn't you say Kerrigan had changed and didn't seek to enslave anyone right before she killed Aldaris? and here he is naively trusting her again. This guy shouldn't be in charge of a burger king let alone the Golden Armada.
Omg that baneling drop hehe was so epic GG m8 and good night m8
Thanks for the video.
27:30 Needed a couple minutes to recover from that one...
Blizzard retconning their own lore? That's so unlike them. *sarcasm*
I'm no expert on StarCraft lore, but it seems very similar to Warcraft lore. Xel Naga are the SC version of Titans, Amon is SC version of Sargeras, Zerg are SC equivalent of the Scourge or Undead, etcetera.
Mhm. It's unfortunate, because the SC1/BW lore was more distinct and interesting, with [mostly] morally gray factions and conflicts. Then they made it Warcraft 3 IN SPAAAACE and made us fight Space Satan in a very black and white, good versus evil setup. It makes me wonder if the writers who took over SC2 after some of the older developers left didn't know what to do with the story anymore and just fell back on what they knew. It's an unfortunate waste of a good sci-fi setting.
The Hybrid and the idea of a greater evil is from 1. There was a secret mission that revealed their existence and the greater story.
@@Draeckon Its more black and gray. All of three factions still have their own issues, and their own heroes and villains. Amon is simply the greater threat.
@@Draeckon tbh Wc3 story is similar Sc1. Even the expansion.
Discover a new threat (Zerg/Undead)
A human becomes evil (Kerrigan/Arthas and a bit of Sylvanas)
Unite against a common enemy (Overmind/Archimonde)
Find a new home (Shakuras/Outland and Kalimdor)
Lead the faction after the leader fell (Zerg/Undead)
There's a lot more you can tell. Personally I'm fine with Wc3 since they have more races and tells a lot. I just wish Starcraft have more story on the Terran colonies, Protoss factions.
Alarak: Voiced by the amazing John De Lancie (Q from Star Trek).
and Discord
why does it seem like the video is sped up even though youtube says the speed is normal?
probably because jayborino plays everything on fastest gameplay speed. IDK how much faster it is but it's more than 1.5 seconds per actual second. They need a speed for this game in between fast and normal, cus normal seems like slow motion the way thhat they run,. I usually play on fast preferably. Fastest just gets too frenetic with the split second micro.
Best boi Alarak has arrived!
two races the zerg and the protos, damn human being just left overs haha
21:41 that sounded threatening...
Darth Alarak: The Protoss Dark Lord Of The Sith.
Do you think we're fools? Yes
you didn't setup the new power & your warrior selection as I believe alarak brings some talderim unit for you to use
10:00 Xel'naga look pretty gross, not gonna lie. They remind me a bit of the spirits Raava and Vaatu from Legend of Korra, for better or worse.
i mean at least raava and vaatu have some elegance, but the xel'naga? purely made out of veined bubbles
Is their anything the keysstone can't do?
I believe Artanis dealt 40*2 and 40 damage (ground, air) then got nerfed.
25:30 this never gets old.
1:04 There's minerals just lying there... Pick up some, Arty! That's a free Probe ffs!
