As part of our continuing series "On the Road," Steve Hartman has the heartwarming story of a little girl's wish to bring her dad home from Iraq for Christmas.
Why do I keep watching these kinds of "homecoming" videos when I know that they will make me get emotional? And, that's not easy for a grown man to admit to. 😭😭
I still tear up when I see this, I've never been away from my kids at the holiday. I can only imagine the struggle for the families that are apart at this time of year.
I've watched this video more times than I care to count. I keep coming back to the same thought. To all the men and women, both military and civilians alike, who are serbing our country abroad, thank you for your sacrifice. You are sorely missed here and I hope each of you return home safely. From a hrateful old retired vet.
I want to thank you for your service & sacrifices..what an amazing surprise & reunion..your baby girl is precious..have some fun..in my prayers..grateful in KY ❤🙏🇺🇸❤
She's in college now or soon will be. It's strange. I was just thinking about this story I have seen several times and it just popped up! I love the Keychain exchange abdcthe confusion on her face when hi gives her his heart!
I believe we are here to Make other's shine .I do believe it's us that's the answer to happiness only we can make others happy and if your making others feel happy your always positive so in return you get Life in droves because people enjoy being around you and there's nothing better than surrounding yourself with positive people. So forget about yourself for awhile and go out and see what others need. And do it for them not for you and truly lets try to be kinder, respectful and more understanding of our fellow human being. I'm not religious,im not a lefty or a righty I just wanna see a happier tommorow for all those little guys and humanity itself so before we start putting people on the moon, mars lets put humanity back on earth.
The same thing happened to me Me: Santa I want my dad home for Christmas Santa: *ask my mom* Where is his father at maybe I can bring him home My mom: well he is- Me: he died but I can ask for any wish and that's my wish so I wish that my father came back to life Shit
Hey CBS, If you enabled embedding, I would have been able to post this on my blog and give it wider distribution. And then some other bloggers might have picked up, put it on their blog and even more people would have seen it...and the ad that precedes the video. That's how the Internet works, Too bad you haven't figured that out.
This would actually be improved if the story were covered by Michael Falk, autistic reporter. "Do you know it will be very difficult for Santa to bring your dad for Christmas? The government does not want your dad home for Christmas. Santa is not real. Last year, I wanted some boxes to stack, and Santa did not bring them. If your dad comes home, can I have your boxes to stack?"
i really liked it, but hated how steve hartman took all that extra time to make sure that you know that he's one reporting it... seriously, WAY irritating. they could have done all that background stuff for the end of the scene, instead took almost as much time filling you in just to cut back and go "yup, it's her dad"- end story... tasteless. (over a minute in a 2 and-a-half minute segment. and there's that bit where he's not a soldier. this screams of 'staged'. acting more like fox every day.
