I'm so glad you decided to use the African violet square for the back, it's such a cute motif and it gives the vest a bit of extra interest rather than just being the typical granny square. I think it's cute with the flowy sleeved top but alone definitely seems more your style.
The pillowcase is my favourite, I think I'd love to make something groovy with daisy squares when I've got the room to do so. Love me some earthy 70s decor. :>

I have autism and adhd which causes me to have auditory processing issues, so I need to REALLY focus for me to understand what someone is saying without subtitles. I loved the vest and the pillow. I too started to make a retro flower blanket but got tired making the squares and turned what I had into a tote bag 😂😂😂
One way to control how you can make the square less tangled incase you feel overwhelmed is by not really making the yarn attached to the ball go behind, but more like creating a small loop in the front to prevent it from tangling when you want to work with it .❤🎉
