    The story of the song is that the fiddler is the Grim Reaper, the being that determines everyone's time of death. He made a mistake(for the first time ever), and ended a life too early. Because of this, the boy was not able to move into the afterlife because it was not yet his time. Feeling guilty, the reaper approached the girl who would have grown up to become his soulmate in a dream and essentially asked her if she would voluntarily come with him to join the boy who was all alone to provide him company. She agreed, so the next day she was killed by an oncoming car when a "trick of light" made the red light appear green, and the reaper then came to escort her spirit to join that of the boy. The song was inspired by a true story. Hansi Kursch(the song's singer and songwriter) witnessed an accident, a little boy on a bike hit and killed by a car. About a week later, in the exact same place, the same thing happened with a little girl. This was a place that wasn't known for being "unsafe" or a site with a lot of accidents, so Hansi came up with an idea to explain how it happened.

      D&W are formed by Hansi from Blind Guardian and Jonh Shaffer from Iced Earth. You should listen both bands and D&W, amazing. Welcome!

    It’s a sad song, but an honour to the two children. Album covers can be deceiving at first sight. What you see look again carefully. A great cover a great song a great tribute by great musicians.

    Yeah this is a pretty legendary song in the metal community. Iced Earth x Blind Guardian = Demons and Wizards, one of the few Supergroups of metal. Blind Guardian in particular is already metal royalty thanks to their vocalist Hannsi Kursch and that's him here on this song doing the vocals.

    I really like Demons and Wizards, their new album is really good as well.
    They have several songs inspired by literature. Wizard of Oz, Moby Dick, Lord of the Rings, a Steven King series I can't remember ATM, and Dorian Grey. With the song Dorian being a favorite of mine.
    This song, the Fiddler is basically the Grim Reaper, I believe the Fiddler version is from German folk lore. In the song, the Fiddler made a mistake and ended the life of a young boy after an accident, but it was too soon, the boy was meant to survive. To make amends to the boy, the Fiddler comes to a young girl in a dream, he explains that he made this mistake and that she would have been destined to marry the boy when they had grown up. She agrees to die early so she can keep the boy company in death, so they could share the time they would have otherwise lost.
    It was inspired by real events in which a boy was killed in an accident while crossing a street, and a few weeks later a young girl also died in an accident in the same spot. This was the singer's attempt to explain this dual tragedy.

    Not sure if its true but I read somewhere, Hansi (singer, Blind Guardian) saw an accident, where small boy was killed by car and not too long later a small girl was killed close to it as well... so he tried to "justified" those tragic deaths by killing a girl after so the boy wont be alone there on the other side!
    btw... Demons and Wizards is a Iced Earth (Jon Schaffer, guitar) and Hansi Kursch (Blind Guardian, vocals). They just release their 3th album after 14 years or so... HIGHLY... and I meand H I G H L Y recommend
    Diabolic (song from new album... its a masterpiece)

    This is my first time ever hearing this band, but I am familiar with the name "Demons and Wizards" since Uriah Heep used it for one of their albums back in the 70's.

  • @Mysticbean54
    @Mysticbean54 4 года назад +1

    The naming of the band comes from the joining of Iced Earth and Blind Guardian for the different music styles of each band. Demons=Iced earth, generally darker lyrics and such. Wizards=Blind Guardian, generally "magical" power, high energy.

    I've heard of Fiddlers Green and Fiddler on the Roof..
    The picture shows a Grim Reaper. So it is a case of taking the child too early and asking if the man was willing to take his place.
    OK a variation of Fiddlers Green which is a name for heaven amongst Tinkers a Traveling Musicians

    • @DShiflet01
      @DShiflet01 4 года назад +2

      No, the reaper wasn't asking someone to take the boy's place. He was asking a little girl(who was meant to grow up and be the boy's soulmate) to die early so she could join the boy in death, so that he wouldn't be alone.

    So basically this’s the metal version of Don’t Fear the Reaper?

    • @therealalexmullins
      @therealalexmullins 22 дня назад +1

      Not really. The singer witnessed a boy die in a car accident near his house. A girl is killed shortly after near the same spot. The singer wrote this song about them because he wanted to imagine they were soul mates and the Reaper made a mistake taking the boy so he asks the girl if she would join him in the afterlife early

    • @austinboucher5286
      @austinboucher5286 17 дней назад

      @@therealalexmullins good point. I think the concept of the reaper beckoning someone to join him/embracing death just kinda gives me the same vibes as Don't Fear the Reaper. Very different core subject though.
