  • Stars and creatives from FX's The Americans (Matthew Rhys, Keri Russell, Noah Emmerich, Joe Weisberg, Joel Fields) gather on April 12, 2023 with moderator Cynthia Littleton to celebrate their show's 10th anniversary. Topics include: how the show's key elements were established in the pilot; Weisberg's work with the CIA before becoming a showrunner; if Rhys and Russell's on-set relationship changed after they got married; Fields' unique way of telling actors that his or her character was about to die; how Rhys conquered one of his greatest fears on set; Emmerich's attempts to influence writers about his character's future; the producers' contention that the show's most outrageous scenes were based on fact-based KGB incidents; and the panelists' speculations about the fate of their characters ten years after the finale.

I absolutely loved The Americans. I’m envious of anyone who hasn’t watched it yet, I’d love to be at the start of the journey again.

I recently convinced a good friend of mine to watch it and it is now part of her late evening viewing. And we discuss it most days on the phone. She is just coming to the end of season 2. Can you imagine what's its like not being able to discuss any part of it in case I give the storyline away. Like you I wish I could watch it all over again without having seen it before. It also very notable for my friend and I cos we both used to work for a company who did business in Russia so we spent a bit of time in Russia in the 90's.

The fact that they fell in love, got married abc had children while filming the show makes it even better.

I would pay for a Matthew Rhys special. The guy is absolute bonkers!
I have recently finished the americans and what a journey it has been. The show has opened my eyes to reality of world politics and I yearn for Phil and Elizabeth to be part of all the spy settings which has shaped our world.

This Webseries actually pulled my interest on OTT platform and world of global web serieses. Even though being a nationalist and even this show presents whole USA security system so vulnerable, but still find this an absolutely outstanding show

The cast and runners made this very hard on the interviewer. None of them had much to say or even seemed to try, and she was asking great questions. Very disappointing bc I love this show.

I adore Keri as an actress but she’s never comfortable being interviewed. She’s either very quiet or very giggly and awkward, depending on the host and the situation. Many actors are quite shy, and she seems to be one of those. Matthew’s usually better. The thing is that they usually get asked questions that are more for the writers or showrunners, so they don’t have much to say. Also, they got asked most of these questions repeatedly every time they did a panel while the show was running, and it gets old. After 10 years, they’ve moved on.

@@Historian212 Meh. I've worked in the industry and for many public events/performers and when you agree to do an event, you need to bring your best game regardless of how you feel. Or, just don't do it. Being a jerk or phoning it in is a bad look, even if your only care is self-respect.

It’s not necessary to laugh or to be funny all the time. The Americans is a fenomenal show about dark times of human history. Embrace it don’t make fun of it. You degrade your own piece of art. This conversation was a shame. I am sorry.
