Jeremiah’s eyes twinkled when he started talking about the house build.
Miah's reactions when Jess calls the meat cows his girls..."These aren't my girls." It reminded me of Venkman in Ghostbusters, "She's not my girlfriend. She sleeps above the covers. Four feet above the covers!" So cute! You two are the cutest, and I'm so excited for what this new year is bringing for y'all!
I love how much Miah talks when he is excited!
You and Miah are relationship/marriage goals. I am recently divorced and I hope you don’t take this the wrong way cuz I know you would never promote divorce, but knowing your own history and blended family, you guys give me hope that I still have a chance to find true love and build a happy, healthy environment for my babies and I. ❤ thank you for that.

I’m so excited for you to begin construction on your dream house! I like Miah’s plan to use the pauses in the house construction to build the workshop! He’s turning his waiting room into a whole building!
My husband built our house in 1988. We’ve made so many wonderful memories here. He passed in late September, and I so often think about the love and protection he left for me in this home that he built. Blessings to you as you bless us in sharing your life.
I’m so sorry for your loss dear 🙏🏻💛 My husband is building our home and I’ve never thought of it that way, but what an amazing legacy to live on after we pass. How beautiful that you are surrounded and sheltered by his love for you. Blessings 🌻

The perineal garden can become a 2 phase plan, half away from the septic and the second done after the pipes are laid. Planting the longest-to-produce plants, the grapes/scuppernongs on the right side with the berries going in on the left because they only take a year to fruit while the scuppernongs take 2 to establish their form and start setting fruit. Some people just don't show their joy as easily as others, but Miah's excitement was still there! I can't wait to watch your dream home come together!
What you guys plan for a few months is pretty much my 5 year plan, ha ha! I can't believe what you've done so far. Awesome!
I define don't begrudge them this but I think it's a little easier to get things done when you have the financial means and him not having a job off the farm. I think it's absolutely amazing they are in this position because I know they weren't always!
The date day at home is wonderful when the kids are home. They suck when the kids have grown up and moved out! There is not much more alone than a home without children!
Plans and lists are my thing but I've learned to leave room for what we call UPP = un planned projects. Like when a tree falls and we have to cut and split it, or the roof in the shop has a leak. Putting a tin roof on it was the eventual plan but now becomes part of the immediate plan. Life has taught us to stay flexible and don't over commit so you don't become discouraged. Thanks Jess and Miah for the great content. I too, have a grounded husband who takes my dreamy ideas and dabs them with reality and then makes them work out somehow.
Gosh, when you was talking you said that you have been on the land for 3 years and I didn't think that I had been watching you for that long. It is very nice to see you Jess and Micah talking so excitedly about gardening and building your 🏠. I am looking forward to seeing all of your plans come to life. God bless you all.

I have a hard time imagining five year plan because my home place homestead will be more like a retirement place, not a constantly growing affair.

I had to tell my husband about what the two of you said. You sound like us getting into something we wanted but man it's taking A LOT of WORK to just make is small hole at the world we are making on our small farm. My daughter & I are working on our 2024 plans along with multi year planning. We’re a 3 generation homestead & we’re so excited for this coming year…our first year with baby lambs. It seems like a long time in coming but I’m so excited!!!

Exciting news! I've been watching for several years, cheering from afar. Having grown up on a beef farm, I would suggest you get a halter on Carol and teach her to lead while she is small. You will all be glad she is trained.
Totally get it the ‘not real’ feeling. We bought our homestead about same time and when we bought our property it’s a house stuck in the 70’s but well cared for. We had discussions how we would make it our own from the time we first walked through it. And now setting up plans to renovate, the fact it’s happening this summer is surreal after so many talks about over the past 3 years.

We started our farm in 2021 as well. We started with 47,000 jobs. We now have goats, sheep, cows (mini Herefords) chooks, geese, ducks, guineas, dogs cats and parrots (we already had them). A garden. We still have 47,000 jobs lol. But it’s just us running it. 2 people and a little bit of help from the nearly grown kids. We hadn’t really farmed before. All the furry/feathered people are doing great.

We moved into our forever home in April 2021. It's actually very similar to the house you're in now. We were living in a 20 yr old double wide that was falling apart so this house now is a big step up. We have been very happy here on our 20 acres in N. MS. I am excited to be able to watch your journey to your forever home and super happy for you guys. You all deserve this.
I could not stop smiling this whole video! What a blessing, dreaming the big dreams and that five year plan!! I still have yet to make one, at this moment it feels scary to dream big. God willing, the direction and dreams will come.

The idea of a family working together and living together for ultimately the most wonderful lifestyle. It's amazing. I remember your dad was supposed to move onto the property once upon a time maybe I missed an update on that. Hopefully he's doing well and makes it back to help with the house build. ❤

I have not been watching for long so it is the first time I've seen a view of the property. It is so beautiful and flat. Not sure how many acres you have, but what a blessing! I would have loved it if I had learned what I know now about growing your own food when I was your age. I am 62 now and even a few raised beds is a lot of work. You guys are amazing.

Several years back I remember you talking about Miah’s grandmother named Beulah from Newfoundland. I live in Gander Newfoundland and my nans name was Beulah so every time I see the Sing Beulah sign in the barn I smile and think of her. Thank you for that.
