In 2000s, Xena: Warrior Princess was released on DVD in separated volumes. I became a fan in 2006 and originally I only watched Series 2, Volume 2 because it had my favourite episode "A Day in the Life". But, I had a change of heart and I decided it to get the whole season on DVD and I don't regret it. If I had bought The Complete Series DVD boxset, I wouldn't had a chance in hell getting it. Maybe buying the individual DVDs at the time was better.
I like the packaging and overall presentation of this box set but it's a shame it doesn't have any extra content. I ended up ordering the Australian release by Viavision which is supposedly a rerelease of the original Anchor Bay box sets which are no longer in print. Not sure if it has all the extra content that was made available in the past but I read some good reviews. Still waiting for it to arrive.
what do you think of the image quality of this set? I'm thinking of getting either this or maybe just go splurge a bit more for the deluxe collector's edition
@@MADFLIXandGames I found the deluxe version on eBay and decided to go with that version since it has much more special features and more artwork. I appreciate the response :^)
No not this set watch you see is what you get that's why I showed menús if you want to get bts and special features you'll have to be the first version of the dvds that came out those are out of print that is why I purchase this set.
@@MADFLIXandGames A lot of shows have budget redos (for those who want to see the show, but don't want to pay absorbent prices)-- unfortunately, the tradeoff is that you get little or nothing in the way of bonuses, but if you're not all that interested in the bonuses, and just want to enjoy the show, then releases like this Xena redo would probably be perfect for you and right up your alley.
@@bmasters1981 I know that I'm fine with either way I'm just waiting for them to make the blu ray versions of this and xena with special features and behind the scenes I've always been a person who loves the behind the scenes and interviews and special features example like if a movie or a show talk about special effects how the scenes were done.I was replying to the person who wanted to know if this had special features and bts that is why I showed the menu's on the dvd I have the full show on DVD so I was able to put it on my plex server which is my own version of NETFLIX it was perfect just for it.

I think this is Literally the only DVD TV Series that did not include any BTS or any other Special Features of any Kind Aside from the Previews to which I don't really count. That Kind Of Stinks, even my Special Edition Two Parter Series Finally Special DVD or whatever it is called had some BTS included at least. This just felt really Lazy for me as a Consumer, but as they say It Is What Is Is I Guess.
Yea I wanted to get the original release but got this one instead it does feel lazy I don't know why they didn't put any bonus features hopefully they will release it on Blu-ray one day at least it's the complete series.
@@MADFLIXandGames Yeah Agree Me too, although I have Read the Reviews and Sadly they Aren't Good Sadly. But I Guess those Reviewers where watching the series as if it was made just only a Few Short Years ago. Judging by what I have Read.
@@MADFLIXandGames Oh, I didn't mean it like that! Yeah it's good for collecting the episodes, just thought about the differences and they're pretty noticeable, but I heard you can get the Anchor Bay ones used and they aren't that expensive, that's what I heard anyway.
@@MADFLIXandGames I believe more money was put into them, the sets are bit clunky as in the packaging is the old accordion style, but it means they have a lot of great pictures. The Menus are animated, they have a lot of extras as you said, it just feels like they cared more about it back then, I think it's sets in general, not just for Xena and Hercules, the older sets just seem like more care was put into making them.
@@Zoitality ah ok yea I know some companies care others don't some companies will not always put extras as it's the cheapest way to release a box set I get it I understand
I use to watch this show with my mom and Hercules. Especially when xena and Hercules crossed over
Yea the memories.
love Xena love TV show
If they do end up releasing this on Blu-Ray at some point, I'd certainly get it.
Me too it will definitely be worth it.
I'm planning to get that DVD in the future.
