- Ice Age: The Meltdown... no 2 in the title? That's a rarity for American animated sequels. Given the original was reasonably good, can the sequel live up to that threshold? Bit of a dicey proposition.

I think Ice Age 2 is rather underrated. Despite some of the silly-ness and the obligatory sequel romance, it honestly feels like a proper sequel to the first, carrying the same charm and contiung the story in a solid way with some good dramatic scenes, and balancing the tone well, unlike the following films. It's nothing amazing but i do call it pretty good.
AntonyBlalock By no means do I wish to discourage fans of the film from remaining so. When I absorbed the Ice Age films in my youth, I felt the massive pacing issues of this one even then, even if the rest didn't come to me. The following two sequels are probably marginally worse, but each has one really good element outside of the Scrat segments, so I find them a little more interesting. Plus, they're better paced. But, again, it's not a bad sequel. Just kind of a mediocre one. And let's be honest, the original isn't great if you remove the nostalgia goggles.
This is the only Ice Age Sequel where i found myself enjoying the main story about as much as Scrat, while in the following 2 films, he's great while the rest is merely decent to bad. While the first film is no masterpiece, i do think it's mildly great. At least as a family film, and i with each sequel, i grow more appreciation for it and what the writers did with it. I actually think it's a better first film for a studio than Antz so Blue Sky has that.

I don't know, having rewatched the first movie not too long ago, I think it's great because of its character interactions and story. And to be honest, I think I watched the second movie more often as a kid, so I don't have as much childhood nostalgia for it as I do the second movie. It's definitely less polished than a Disney or a Pixar film, but I'd still say it's great for a family movie, despite the excrement jokes, which can be a bit much at times. The biggest mistake the franchise made was adding too many characters and side stories.
4 and 5 are really bad. 2 and 3, I need to rewatch (haven't actually watched much of this video, considering that I'm planning on rewatching the second movie soon).
Also, are you planning on doing one of these episodes on the following sequels?

With this video, folks, I make a major change to the format. Now, the subtitles are no longer physically part of the video, but instead are optional in RUclips captions. This way, they're only there if you need them, much like watching the film on DVD and the like.
The main reason for this change is that I've had to visually shrink everything thus far to fit the subtitles, except films in a Cinemascope ratio (thus far, the two Kung Fu Pandas, Wreck-IT Ralph and Zootopia). And it just doesn't look as visually impressive. This way, it's as immersive as the actual film. More importantly, some people don't like having subtitles there when they don't want them, so now you have a choice. Plus, this means the videos can be captioned in other languages, if such an option ever becomes feasible.
Also, captions helps the video become more searchable in the algorithms due to all that text in the video's data. It's like having loads of tags. So that helps.
I know my accent isn't the easiest for Americans and non-native English speakers to understand, so rest assured - every video to come will have captions. Now you can enjoy the video more then ever before.

I never realised how much I need the subtitles to understand what your saying (it's my fault, not yours!) because I cannot activate subtitles!
They're not like annotations, they can be turned on on mobile platforms and tablets as well as computers. Unless you're watching on some platform other then one of those, there shouldn't be an issue.

Awesome that you're announcing the upcoming 2 Disney Animated Films. One that brought the Fairytale again and this time is with computer animation. And the other, that many people dubbed it "The Best Adaptation of a Lewis Carroll Story". :-)

Yeah, this movie didn't quite strike me as great when I saw it. Although I would still sit down and watch it if anyone suggests it.

Oh, I know. But that's a mouthful to say, and they're barely in the film (and, as a result, the video), so it was easier and better to not refer to them by name.
Cartoon Karma Do I sound smarter when I say antagonist rather than bad guy or villain? Since Ellie thought she was a possum, possums are marsupials like kangaroos, so did Ellie think she had a pouch or something?
I finded those two baddies more captivating than anything else in this movie for some reason, heck, for me the movie isn't maybe the best out there, but John Powell's tracks for it gives the film a more darker tone than the first one, don't you think ?

As to your question, Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Continental Drift will be covered in due time. Collision Course... I don't see it ever happening. There's nothing exciting I can say in a video on that, it's that bad. And not in a way that makes for a good video. Some bad films are like that. It's just bad.

Well, yeah, we want this whole trilogy covered of course. Also, personally I thought this movie was inferior to the first two and would've liked to hear your in-depth analysis of what's wrong (and what's right) with this movie. Should be fun:)

Yes I did mean Diego, see he's so forgettable and pointless I can't even remember his name! Though that might be because it's clear Blue Sky comes up with the name first and the film second. Ice Age Six: Cool Nuts, where Skrat and the 6 billion main character's stories intersect and they have to defeat frozen nut ice monsters.

I have been planning it for a while, it's just I haven't had as much time for the channel lately. But once I get back on track shortly, it'll be a high priority. I'd be a fool to not fast-track it for production, given how relatively popular my videos on the first two Ice Age films were.
