Hola...las flores el martillo..me gustaron mucho...no dices con que se muerde la tela?...algo de explicación..sobre esto, abrazos y Gracias...desde Perú 🇵🇪
I will be doing this this afternoon with my granddaughters on white dinner napkins, they can give them as gifts. I watched this to make sure I do it correctly thank you for the tutorial.
What the dosage is for iron mordant for a T-shirt. How long do you soak the fabric in? Do you rinse it in water after that and let it dry? Love your fabric.
My 7 yr old daughter and I just finished watching your video in its entirety-she wondered if we could come to your house and tell you how much we loved it😁 I said we can do the next best thing and leave a comment❤ Amazing tutorial, like I was sitting at a friend’s house! We had just tried our hand at our own flower pounding this morning (to unsatisfying results). We gleaned so much from you! Flower choice, deconstructing/reconstructing flowers with bulbous bases, even how to delicately hammer the flower…everything was helpful! Thank you so much😊 On a side note, you are MOVING away from that glorious flower garden?!
Is a great video. I enjoyed it very much seeing all the different kind of flowers in your garden and all the things that you’ve shown us in this video has been great. Thank you so much.
I’ve done collages of wedding flowers and funeral flowers as memory keepsakes for people. Made them into stitched framed wall art and pillows. I LOVE the pillows or quilts others have made from my pieces. The least showy flower makes the best print: roses the worst!
Lovely video. I really like this technique, it’s like preserving the garden in fabric. Also thanks for keeping me company at half past 2 am with a tummy ache.
I wanna try this next summer to make patches for mending later down the road. These would be so cute as knee patches on jeans. I've also been thinking about doing a floating petals thing with this technique on my muslin kimono.
Your garden is so pretty. And it's a reminder to me that I need to deadhead less often and just let the flowers be...and drop their seeds for next year.
Question about your garden...do you clear out the stalks each fall? I collect zinnia heads but I usually clear out. I love the natural feel of your garden space. Everything just regrows the following year! Wonderful source for your fabrics!
This is just SO COOL! Love this and want to try it with everything in my yard - next year, of course, when I there are leaves on trees and blooming flowers, again. Thanks, Laura. ♥
This is one of the best videos i've seen on flower pounding. I watched another one using Alum as a mordant. Does it work as well as the iron mordant? Thank you.
Great video..thank you for the time and showing someone new to this! I am excited to try this asap. So beautiful! I will be trying to use many things of course haha, but especially love that you implement the greenery! I love green and green colours, my favourite colour. I loved the results you had.I think will pursuing this much more than just natural dying, it appeals to me much more..one thing I've noticed with natural dying is that most natural dyers I've watched etc never seem to have many green dyes, is it because they are harder to keep green? I want to try finding some really varying colours of greens hahaha..I watched an amazing video based in Japan, an old Japanese man has been carrying on his fathers legacy, but his father had sadly started using chemical dyes, so when his father died, he went back to researching natural dyes, and it is quite amazing what he's been producing!! Absolutely stunning and the video is so relaxing to watch.
I love your video, watched the mordant video on how to make the mordant but is there a video that shows HOW to prep the fabric? Do you soak the fabric? Or is it a a quick dip? After The mordant do you wash the fabric before you start hammering? I’ll look for more videos…
Love this- I'm making a friend a Garden Journal. French linen fabric pockets with this eco print will be awesome. I need to find your video where you prep the fabric.
Now I have to grow cosmos next year!!!! Do you know, can you use the petals to make a blue dye? Like for wool? It would be so cool to use that to make a mandala!!!
can a breyer roller be used or even something heavy rolled over it (like putting under a car tire and drive over it- so the sound of the pounding is eliminated?
I just played with this this weekend, but I didn’t know to pretreat the material and after a cold water rinse, only browns are left. Will the pretreat make the clothing washable?
pretreating the fabric, scouring and mordanting will help the colours hold, not just the browns. I scoured with dish soap and washing soda, then mordanted with iron solution for this fabric. Enjoy going down the dye rabbit hole!
I don't know. The fabric was pretreated to fix the colour, but washing and heat will eventually break down the pigments, so be gentle! That said. I have several pieces that have been washed and dried many times that retain almost all the details and colour. So, there's that.
I just saw a floral patterned skirt at a thrift store with a print that looked so similar to this effect. I had to pass it up because it was too small :,) I had planned to thrift hunt for floral bedsheets to make one, but I think I will make my own printed fabric using this technique! I am so excited for spring now lol.

You are so easy to listen to, thank you

Can’t wait to try your iron mordant method along with this tutorial. Super through, and your dye garden is/was beautiful ♥️😭
You could cover the flowers with watercolour paper before hammering, maybe use it as a birthday card?
Ooooh, neat idea Carol! Thanks 🥰
Great idea!😊
I want to try this as a ladies gathering at church. Maybe on tea towels. How can you make the fabric resistant to washing and fading?
Thank u

Now I have to grow cosmos next year!!!! Do you know, can you use the petals to make a blue dye? Like for wool? It would be so cool to use that to make a mandala!!!

Does the colour wash out?
What kind of hammer are you using? Is it battery operated?
Hi I was wondering about sealing this for washing? Could you just use a color stay fixative?
I don't know. The fabric was pretreated to fix the colour, but washing and heat will eventually break down the pigments, so be gentle! That said. I have several pieces that have been washed and dried many times that retain almost all the details and colour. So, there's that.
So pretty! 🌸🌼 Have you tried any Cosmo leaves before?
How to keep them permanently I mean will they fade after wash
How do you pretreat the cloth before you start?
Do petunias work?
How do u get the material ready (mooted)?
Iron mortor??? I’m not sure I heard that right? Where’s the link?
I just saw a floral patterned skirt at a thrift store with a print that looked so similar to this effect. I had to pass it up because it was too small :,)

What do you mean by mordant the fabric
