  • Victory may seem like the ultimate goal for everyone, but sometimes it may bring more torment than bliss.
As Ryland travels back to District 9, his return is far from glorious. He has to confront his demons and learn to live with his sins, knowing that the damage cannot be undone.

Happy that you didn’t portray Maizee as a bad person and also happy that even when she’s dead, Gwenith isn’t bitter, her ghost telling Ryland to live his life and not make the mistakes he did again.

Yes, that's what I was going for. Everyone likes to make oc victors, but I think canon victors have potential too because we don't know much about them, and we can imagine what they were like. That, and I didn't want to cause more timeline inconsistencies.

@@cyraelin4950 It does, even in different Fanmade Hunger Games Series, the biggest example of this is Tales of the Hunger Games, the District 7 Victors Cirrus Quell (Victor of the 23rd) and Tristan Terrace (Victor of the 52nd) both changed after their victory, Cirrus had a mental breakdown minutes after he was declared Victor and stabbed himself causing the creation of the Quarter Quells, and Tristan Terrace volunteered when his sisters name was called, he watched her die in the arena after she was stabbed by the boy from 1 Ares, Tristan became an alcoholic like Haymitch,

i love this epilogue! it shows how no one really wins the games, and victors and just survivors. i wonder what ryland’s fate is till the 3rd quarter quell, do him and maizee end up together or is his just alone all this time🤔? it also poses the question if his determination to win in the third quarter quell is cuz he wants to get home to maizee or if he has nothing left to lose. i love how these vidoes always expand the hunger games lore, thank you for this!!

Thank you! Yes, they ended up together. I also headcanon that one of his children was reaped later because Katniss mentioned that children of victors are more likely to be reaped. But one depressing thing that not many people mention is how they kick out the victor's family after they die. 💔

@@cyraelin4950I feel like this would also apply to Haymitch, he would see his Mom, Brother, Girlfriend, Maysilee, and his mentees, there are more Victors that I think would see there dead allies or family, like Johanna, Annie, Justin and Megan (The Morphlings), if you have watched TFTHG (Tales From The Hunger Games) you would know why the Morphlings are here.

It's okay, I understand that the ending may be difficult to process, and some people wished for a different outcome.
I tried my best to make it clear that, despite what people may think, this is not a heroic tale, and everyone has something to lose, especially in the trailer.
My overarching theme in all my stories is that no one truly wins the Games and I feel like if the narrative always rewarded the underdog or the fan favourite, then people would overlook the theme because they'd be more focused on celebrating the victory itself rather than reflecting on the consequences and emotional impact of it. That's why in these bonus scenes, I emphasise the idea that life after victory is not all sunshine and rainbows.
So, I didn't choose a controversial victor solely for the sake of shock value. It was a deliberate choice to serve the message I was going for. I just wish that more people focused on the story as a whole instead of evaluating it solely based on how much they like the victor.

Hunger Games aren’t always fair, just because you like someone, it doesn’t mean they will win. This is something I tell myself while watching games, and if I don’t like the victor, I’m like “No! Well we can’t change who wins so, I guess it’s fine.”

Yes, because there's no equivalent of a Sims world that has grain fields. I could make one for scratch, but the resources are limited to begin with (I only found some wheat cc, but that's it). I also know that the states where 9 is located also have forests. I'm not sure if the geography would change in the future, but I imagine there would be some forests left even then.
However, I can make up for it and maybe show him working in a wheat field because I was considering making a bonus scene from Gwen's pov, too.
