  • Recently we got to try night kiting two nights in a row at our home spot in Toronto, Canada. We quickly learned some lessons on the first night that we were able to fix for the second night. In this video we share those challenges and what we recommend for you if you're interested in capturing your next night kitesurfing adventure on camera.
    Special thanks to Andrew Grinton (www.grintonphot...) for the amazing footage!

    What is the purpose of the coloured lights? The white and red would indicate a boat moving in the opposite direction to the direction you were moving in. All-white lights would eliminate this confusion.

    • @OurKiteLife
      @OurKiteLife  Год назад

      The packs of finger lights came with four colours, so we just used them all. It wasn't for any purpose other than lighting up the kite

    • @A_Canadian_In_Poland
      @A_Canadian_In_Poland Год назад

      @@OurKiteLife If the lights are the only thing that can be seen, as is the case at night, it could lead to an undesired collision at normal kitesurfing speeds with other users on the water. I was windsurfing and paddleboarding on a lake recently in daylight and encountered a fisherman with a remote controlled boat (probably with an underwater camera beneath it). At a distance, I saw flickering white and green, which made me think the RC toy boat was moving away and to the right. Only to approach closer and find that it had the wrong lighting: white in the front, green on both sides and red in the rear. It would have been very confusing if it was at night.
      I've seen bicycles with a white light in the rear, or blue lights, which can be more dangerous than no light at all.

    • @A_Canadian_In_Poland
      @A_Canadian_In_Poland Год назад

      @@OurKiteLife The safest thing to do would be to use yellow lights, which aren't used in navigation at all. It would clearly indicate to other water users that it is an object on the water that is not a boat and thus should be avoided with extreme caution.
