      TY! Montana is another one of those ridiculously diverse states -- thick forests on mountains in the west, and flat plains as far as the eye can see in the east.

      It really was on our list! I had a guy at a dump station in Lewiston recommend the place, and their camping on their property was our fallback in case none of the potential boondocking spots worked out. Unfortunately, with our short visit we ran out of time to go have a beer, especially after I had to make two separate unplanned trips into Missoula.

      One thing that struck me a funny (I know there is a tactical reason) In a place where it rained nearly every day they were there the eaves are angled so you have to walk through the run off from the roof every time you went in and out of your room.

    Not to far from Missoula...Back in 1980 my dad moved to Salmon Idaho after parents divorced so i have been up and down that Hwy 93 ride several times...In fact North Fork over by lost trail pass was one of the last RV trips we went on before the wifes health took a major dump....I love that area....Will be lookin forward to seeing where that favorite spot of yours in Montana is....Thinking someplace close to Flathead lake perhaps ??? Travel safe, be well....

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  Год назад +1

      True, not far from Missoula at all. In fact, I had to run into town twice to pick up a couple of things. Lost Trail Pass, and that whole Southern end of the Bitterroot Valley has been on my list for years, but circumstances always seem to prevent me from getting there. One of these days we will. As for that spot next week, it is near a lake, but not Flathead. We'll have to keep you guessing.

      @@GrandAdventureWell, if you ever get over that Lost Trail Pass area (being you like to snow ski its a nice little spot to checkout at least once.) Also the Continental Divide is at the top of Lost trail pass....Would highly suggest staying at Waters Edge RV park resort there in North Fork not far away....Nice little base camp with your 5th wheel to unhitch and explore with your truck...Am sure you can find a lake somewhere in the area to do your kayak gig also...Sawtooth mountains around Stanley also has some great boondocking with a little bit of research as i know your into it....

    • @GrandAdventure
      @GrandAdventure  Год назад +1

      Thank you Wayne! None of the dispersed sites were designated as such. However, many of the obvious pullouts around there were ringed with rock in that way. The local forest apparently uses that technique to restrict vehicle use beyond the rocks. Before we got there, when we were scouting out sites via satellite imagery, we saw many of those rock outlines.

    Neat place, Marc. Did you sit out in the creek on chairs like before? Were there mosquitoes or was it too dry this year?
    I really enjoyed the historic review you always give.
