Been saying it for years, Honda has been slipping in quality. Toyota stays on top bc they take forever to adopt new tech to iron out most issues but even they have new model issues. Cars are just becoming too complex while not improving durability.

Clearly you haven't looked into the 22+ Tundras grenading themselves and blowing turbos within a few thousand miles. 🛑 It were talking about a rearview camera in this case.

I don't want to buy any NEW car today with all the new technology that could easily break down. Keeping my 12' Altima hopefully for the duration. The car has been bulletproof for 13 years including the CVT transmission.

The only old tech car out there that is new is the 4runner. But next year it will be changed.

If only car manufacturers would go back to building cars without all this horrible technology. I just want to drive a standard basic car. No computers or electronic crap on them. If you can't back your car up without the assistance of a backup camera you need to go back to driving school. It's totally unnecessary to have on a car. These cars today are loaded down with crap. It's not brand specific it's just today's cars in general. Just crap. I have a 1993 Buick Century Special with a 3300 V6 and a simple 3 speed transmission that I have been driving for the last 31 years. No issues other than normal maintenance. No crappy add-ons on it. It has a real key. A real engine and trans without all of that computer crap on it. As dependable as the day is long. Let's see them build cars like that again.

Unfortunately this tech is being mandated by the government. They keep wanting all this safety stuff, cameras and the like.
And I agree cars are heavily computerized, even your 1993 but it wasn’t obtrusive electronics.
I have a 1995 Accord I refuse to part with. It has 297k miles but runs great still even tho it’s ugly, that car always starts and I never have issues with it.
I had a modern Honda Accord. I had 2 a 2018 and 2019. One had the vulnerable 1.5T that is known for various issues and head gaskets issues that happen around 75k. I kept it 10 months and bought the 2.0T Accord for its reliability and while it was reliable. I had sensor issues that required calibration to the tune of $500 for the forward collision. Then my windshield was broken twice and it cost 1200 each time because insurance said I didn’t have glass coverage for my car. Here it’s something they didn’t offer for that car because it required costly sensor recalibration. Then at 46k miles I was having some other minor problems with suspension sounds which some would say is my fault for hitting bumps. Whatever. The electric parking brake that should be disabled when replacing brake pads which I had to do at 30k miles because the rear pads are used for the brake that auto set itself every time I shut off the car. Also push button transmissions fun and games until someone opens my driver door and tries to carjack me. It prevents the car from leaving park if the door isn’t shut. Can’t just drive off.
I heavily reconsidered what was important to me. So I traded my newer Honda for a 2015 and while it’s still modern. 1. Isn’t a boat , handles better , 2. Is a manual transmission, no more button crap, 3. Physical non electronic parking brake 4. Non turbo tried and true 2.4 N.A engine . Wish it wasn’t direct injection but can’t win everything. 5. While I loved the led headlights and taillights, I like that I can replace a taillight light bulb for $5 rather than hundreds on a replacement assembly. Headlights I replaced with lasfit bulbs and they’re close enough to my fantastic headlights I had before.
Oh and this car was a garage kept car with 16k miles and I’ll have it likely until they ban driving gas cars or the day I die. As these last 300-400k easily with maintenance. I don’t miss the Honda sensing stuff and my car insurance covers glass on this car. Funny how that changed even tho a windshield is only $250. It’s been 9 months and I’ve only put 2900 miles on it.
And lastly, don’t give up that Buick. If you live up north or in the snow belt everyone should be using fluid film or surface shield to prevent rust. I’ve been looking for an older GM to add to my fleet. You can’t beat the century or cutlass Ciera… even the last generation of century was extremely reliable. I just wish it was optional for all this tech. And the obtrusive level as things electrify is absurd. While I understand safety reasons with lane keep and blind spot monitoring, I’ve had more close calls with accidents with forward collision detection not working properly.
We wouldn’t need all that if people wouldn’t be distracted and put their phones down and drive safely. I never used my backup cam until my 18 accord because I had to parallel park it where I had lived and I’d use my mirrors to park then use the cam to judge distance… but I can get in my 95 and back it up and see everything without one. They do make sense in trucks and backing up trailers …
Enough of a 5 am rant about cars. lol😮

@@CivicTrip I thoroughly agree with everything you just said. Right on the money. I am not letting my '93 Buick go. I will be buried in it. And that '95 Honda Accord is a very good car. They are nice looking practical cars. Very well built. I also have a 2018 Lexus RX 350 L. I maintain it myself cause I'm afraid to go to the dealer to have anything done on it. I turned off all of the electric B.S. sensors, switches and doo dads that I possibly could. It has been an okay car but even this over priced thing has some quality issues. Too much plastic on the body. There's always some piece of plastic trim falling off here and there. Damn push pins and plastic clips everywhere.

I like Honda styling and the way they drive but won’t buy a post 2017 Honda. Even though they own up to the recalls, they have so many of them my fear is that dealers won’t have the parts or resources to address them, which is the case with the current fuel pump recall.

Back in the 80’s there wasn’t cameras, parking sensors, ACC. The more complex, the more likely for a car to have something break.

    I have a 2018 RIDGELINE.
They cannot get the PARTS to repair mine. Been calling since 2023 when the first recall came out.
On the list at my dealer to get it done but STILL May 2024 no parts.
I love my truck. Runs great no REAL problems.

Can I just say that at least they are owning up to the mistakes, even small ones like the camera harness. I just feel like if the same thing was going on with GM or Ford they would probably just pay off the lawsuits as they come.
Would not have this problem if such lengths to cut costs were not taken

Been junk since 2012, a simple RUclips search before purchase would of made it very clear that these things have electrical and software failures

    I disagree.
My daughter has 2012. My granddaughter has one.
I just think they are very good dependable vehicles.
    And safe.
