Is there a video tutorial on how to do roto-scoping on a video clip? I would like to blackout the contents of a TV screen. I saw your next video covers roto, but in the context of motion tracking. But, that is not the same. Appreciate if someone could post a link on how to do this. There does not seem to be a lot of videos on RUclips for Natron. Also, the included documentation for Natron is missing a large number of chapters - including RotoScoping.

Hi! Thanks for the tutorial, it's very helpful. I have a question: In the video, the mask is used to erase everything around the selected area of the image. However, I want to do the opposite-I want the selected area of the image itself to be erased instead. How can I achieve this?

for some reason, the Premultiply doesnt work in my natron
whenever I try to export frames out it always goes outside the resolution where the rotos are placed outside the screen how do i fix that?
do you know how to inverse roto select everything outside and make inside roto transparent?thx

I want to mask off an area outside a particular shape, but instead of drawing the shape in my Roto (Bezier, Rectangle, Ellipse) I want the shape to be derived from a Read of a .psd layer or a .png
Example: I read a .png with a solid hexagon and my Roto will mask everything outside that hexagon
How do I do this?
Hi Martin. I'm pretty sure there's a simple way to do this, but I'm out of practice with Natron, and am not exactly sure how to do it myself. Hopefully someone else can shed more light...
It's been 5 months, you probably figured it out already. But if you didn't, or others are interested, here is how I achieved it: read the .png which you want to use as a mask, then connect the .png to the mask input of a merge node and connect whatever you want to the A input of the merge node. Done! I don't know about the psd layer though

I am sorry I couldn't see any AE similarity! Could you give us few example on movie clips in timeline?
so when I use roto, and celct Alpha the whole screen goes white and when I select premultiple nothing changes...however when I use rotopaint I am am able to achieve this, do you have any suggestions on why this might be happening?
when I view in Alpha mode, I am only seeing black for the complete screen and my roto shape, It's a (closed) Bezier, so how to get alpha within the roto shape?
Appreciate the effort but sadly this does not cover animated splines, which seem to be really damn buggy.

Hi TJ FREE! How are ya doing? I have a problem with Natron. When I select premultiply it doesn't work. And when I select Alpha, it whites the whole Background. Do you have any suggestions? Please reply at your early conveineince. :)
Why this just does not work when the input is an SVG image or a Merge Node?
Is there an automask feature , wherr the mask can be tracked automatically? what about importing keyframes or tracking information fdom mocha pro or like similar software that tracks on plane?
Hi Max. I'm not sure about importing tracking data from other programs. What I would try is to export the tracking path, and then import than path into Natron.
How can I create an alpha matte mask from a text ??

Same here, but I discovered he's using "over" mode on the roto which does not seem, to work.. I changed it to "mask" and it seems to work. Dunno why the difference. we have a newer version perhaps.
