This tiny 16cc Diesel engine had some gremlins, I fixed it up and ran it.

Can defiantly hear the fuel knock from that leaking injector
To spend $1 300 on an engine that has so many manufacturing problems 😢😢😢
I read a story about an author who had finally discovered the secret of getting editors to accept his works:
He deliberately left some mistakes in the manuscript for the editors to find and correct. Having done so, there was the feeling that "they" had contributed something too and we're likely to accept it.
Maybe that's the case here?
Maybe they left some deliberate eff-ups so the modeler would feel they'd actually participated instead of just putting three screws and two drops of loctite into it?
Полностью исправная машина не интересно, данный двигатель покупают что бы отлаживать его. Горсть дефектов для вашего интереса.
@@jimharris9394 LOL, I surely hope not for that price!
What problems ?.... for me as a retired mechanic / machinist it's part of the charm and fun to fiddle around with the engine and get it to work.
Im disappointed that it arrived completely build together.
I would expect to receive a box of parts and a manual.
And then build the engine for myself.
@@gertjevanpoppel7270 What problems? You blind?
I am looking forward to the upgraded injector. Also that wooden base will last forever with that diesel dripping all over the place.
I am not sure if it meets the Euro 6 emission standard 😂
What a lovely little engine 👍😀...
As a retired mechanic / machinist I would love to tinker around with this and for me it part of the charm to fix all the issues.
The only issue i have with the maker of this video that I don't hope that he is using jb weld when fixing the injector 😢... instead of fixing it he just created a enormous problem 😢.
I assume the above model engine burns on kerosene, which is much easier to atomize under a much lower injection pressure.
they def need to rework the design of this engine, every reviewer ive seen had problems like you did and not running well at all. I think whats happening is they take a gasoline engine and converting it to diesel. A diesel engine needs long strokes and very high compression and most important is the injector and timing.
If I spent that much money (I would not in this case) on a model engine, I would expect it to work perfectly and run like a swiss watch straight out of the box, too many times you see this type of engine or Stirling engines on youtube and they just don't work correctly. Send it back and get your money back, or wait...... did they send it to you as a freebie???? either way it's garbage.
Very nice, now give it the world's smallest turbo
I am a qualified Diesel Mechanic and Fuel Injection Equipment Technician. The fuel injection pump and injector are both very precision made. The size of injection equipment for the model engine is even smaller and must be more precisely mated in order to stop excess seeping of fuel via the plunger and barrel, and with a smooth sliding fit. I don't think the workmanship of a model engineer at home can accomplish.
I love your toys! 😎😎
Make a nice paperweight.
Am I right in thinking that the origin is China.
timing of the fulpump maybe not right due to the lose bolt in the exentric, timing is very important good luck
Once again, I agree with the commenters on the quality (or rather, lack thereof) on this engine. Neat concept, poor delivery. I commend you for trying to fix it, but it should have been quality checked before being sent out.
The engines you've previously restored put this one to shame.
can you tell me as how this injector works I'm not familiar with model injectors, but I would love to know on how this one works!
it is strange that at such a price, they spared a piece of copper pipe for the exhaust, putting some kind of ersatz ...
and even for such a price they could not make the casting better, judging by the video, the sand for casting was taken with too large a fraction ...
and the rest of the metal processing was performed at a very low level, the tolerances are huge and the surface roughness is huge, I think that even on a real engine, the workmanship was an order of magnitude better, but here, on the model, it had to be done at least twice as well...
fit, finish, and balance is absolutely crap. For that much hard pass send it back.
Does the manufacturer or distributor of the engine have any ideas on correcting the injector's errant ways? It's fun to watch as it is though. Good work!
@@nineteenandfortyone yes, they do have a newer injector in testing.
Great vid AJ! I had an extended play with mine, which starts very reliably. I will put some more footage up.... Only "gremlin" was overtight big end of conrod. I am trying 1/2 diesel 1/2 kerosene today, a cleaner run. The builder is working on the type 3 improved injector so stay tuned :) he wants to perfect the injector and they'll be a free or at-cost upgrade. Anyway, a very difficult prototype to model in small scale and "world's first" serial production. Did you have fun?
@@ThomasPCGuruENGINES I will be keeping tabs on the newer injector. The engine I got also was a little tight on the bigend. I had extremely good fun with this one.
@@AJRestoration Hehe...nice :)
Nice motor
You can certainly tell the quality is not in this engine like the guy in Denmark used to make.. I think they're doing clones of his engines...😮
Great project AJ! Will you continue with your restoration projects? I'm missing my fix of degreasing and powder coating. You're hands are way to clean and possibly supple 😂😂😂
I reckon maybe the compression is a bit low
These videos are sometimes food to see but I much prefer the actual restoration ones.
Very poor quality
Thats not a kit. Kits have to be assembled, or finish being machined and assembled.
Почему обороты не стабильные?
качество изготовления почти на уровне плинтуса...
So what applications is there for such engine?
None whatsoever... Does there HAVE to be? We're boys...
shoeshine belt?
Que coisa linda 🤠✨🫰🏻✨
mising the DEF unit
I dislike all things Deere, but I would rather you spent your money on fixing up one than wasting it on garbage like this, or jet engines that DON'T. C'mon, man, back to restoring good stuff. You're REALLY good at that.
Garbage
@@clickerbootsmoir1012 care to share why?
@@AJRestoration It is garbage, it plainly does not work properly.
The purpose of the engine is not to be perfect, but to model one of the original machines by Rudolf Diesel... which did not work perfectly. Diesels have tiny, close tolerance parts and building these to "perfection" is near impossible for one man, to create for serial production...at a price where a heavy model engine like this is still affordable...but, despite being "impossible", the builder is giving it a go. It's not your cup of tea but many like AJ and I will enjoy fiddling with this unusual engine, so it has it's market I guess :)
@@ThomasPCGuruENGINES Again.... for that amount of money it should work to near perfection, this engine is FAR from perfect, in fact its not anywhere close to working correctly, consider spending this amount on a model aircraft four stroke engine, they work pretty damn well straight out of the box unlike this particular "engine". My opinion is it's garbage, happy tinkering!!
The sponsored engines are getting tiresome, I hope for more restorations soon.
He's losing his dignity to promote some crappy Chinese junk
It's amazing!
a bit rich don't ya think?
That is the coolest motor
Not worth the money then.........
@@andrewofford1533 Its 100% worth the money.
