Thank you for sharing. Great Video.
Garifuna gien nuguya ma lubuidu le narijibei tenquinumutij
That woman at the beginning is making Garri. It's a very popular staple food in Nigeria made from Cassava.
Garifuna people are originally came from eastern Nigeria called Cross River State (Calabar). The Men have their own Language while the Women also have theirs. They still exist in Cross River State- Calabar of Nigeria till today. So these people originally came from Nigeria although they might have split all over the world, they escaped from a shipwreck during slavery and mixed up with people that have been living there in the Caribbean before they came. Do your research you will find the Garifuna people in the Eastern part of Nigeria in Cross River State Calabar.
This people are Mandinkas from the Mali empire bro
He needs to do his research some more on West African traditions of spirituality such as among the Igbo people of Nigeria, Bamilike people of Cameroon, and Ewe people of Togo he will see the heart of it was always the reverent of one ancestor not so much sacrifice and so forth but his Christian doctrine is blinding him from seeing that. That is why he's making disparaging comment about Orisha. Most of what he talking about 9 nights is also done in Trinidad, Greneda, st. Vincent and I believe Jamacia.
He really needs to because African spirituality cosmology is ties right in Orishas are the manifestation of the Supreme Creator we live amongst the elements and we cannot forget our ancestors we must keep our traditions practice alive also Obeah withcraft is done by wicked people it has nothing to do with the true worship of our Creator
Mandinka peoples bro
Preserve the tradition
We dance, eat and drink during burials in our culture in Southern Nigeria.
Somewhat similar to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
We have a basic food in Nigeria source from cassava called GARI.
Garri looks very similar to Farine
You are welcome, kudos to the National Garifuna Council of Belize for producing this video.
hi, i am from The United States of America, and am doing a report on the Garifuna people. My mom has been to Barranco, a village in belize a few hours from Belize city. I am trying to do this report unbiased, so i am staying away from historical documents written from the point of view of Columbus. i am having an extremely hard time finding reputable sources of the history of the garifuna people. Can you please send me a message with links to a few true garifuna history sources?
The sound is too LOW!
I cannot hear a word he is saying!
In Jamaica nine night is our tradition too
The 9 night is in our Jamaican culture as well, I wonder which west African culture this comes from??
The tradition comes from African cosmology spirituality practices are the same with differences depending which part of Africa you're ancestors were from keeping up the practice is important.
Yes, Sir

Africans were actually in the Caribbean before slavery, so the intermixed between Africans and the Kalinago ppl occurred long before slavery. Look at the video they came before Columbus. The shipwrecked that occurred just add to the population that was already present on the island of St. Vincent.

There is a claim that Africans where in the Caribbean before Columbus, so the Garifunas were present in the Caribbean before slavery.
