Takeoff, navigation, and bugs in the B350 King Air in Microsoft Flight Simulator

  • A quick flight showing basic operation of the B350 King Air in Microsoft Flight Simulator. Taking the aircraft from cold and dark, through engine startup, takeoff, navigating, and landing. It turns out there are some significant bugs in the B350 to do with aerodynamics - which can be worked-around by meddling with fuel mixture to the engines.
Anyway - the main point of this flight was to show the navigation menu (not obvious), and switching the autopilot between VOR a GPS mode (again, not obvious).

Hi Johnathan, my name is Jawad and me and my son are big fans of yours. we are just trying to make our FSX experience more interesting. I have found some add-ons on the fly away and we are getting our computer connected to the internet. A lot to learn still.

Thankyou very much! If you would like to tag along on any of the meetup flights, I'm sure those attending will be happy to answer any questions. Natalie (my daughter, that often does the flights in FSX) will be able to help you!

Slow down using FLC and set throttle to idle and speed to a low value, play with those inputs. I use props same as throttle and sometimes I set ot Feather ! or REVERSE for a moment.

Yep - most altimeters have a knob for it.

Btw I was able to add actual Feathering for the Props using SPAD. THere is a Snippet out there that worked !

Thanks, I could not find how to set flight plan, go direct, etc. Also, I was having the same throttle issue you were having where it sorta gets stuck at high power. I found that if you move the prop rpm setting down and then back up it seems to help and you can reduce power with the throttle. Not sure if that is a bug or just how the King Air works, but suspect its just a bug.

There are lots of bugs in the various aircraft - and some of them have "FADEC" throttles too - which means the throttle doesn't necessarily operate as you might expect :)

@peterrees907 - does it turn off completely? I had that when I forgot to turn off the engine starters. Simply turn off the started once engine and it should be OK.

That the Microsoft Visual C Redistributable. Interesting - I've never had it throw that error at me. If you google it, you'll find the Microsoft installer for it.
