Back in my BT3 days this was the character I mostly used, together with SSJ4 Gogeta. Both, at least for me, represent peak Saiyan design and lore (SSJ4 Gogeta representing the essence and LSSJ Broly representing the existential pradigm of the saiyan race)

It’s the fear that stops Broly from continuing to grow in power. This is true for Z Broly AND Supers Broly. Once Broly begins to fear his opponent the battle is over, he begins to regress.

His lssj is truly mastered ssj in a sense. He can maintain it like stage 1 has the boost of stage 2 & 3 with no draw back besides releasing excess energy.
love this breakdown! Z Broly was SOOOO good in his first movie! i loved watching it. even if you just look at him as a "big dumb brute", he does it PERFECTLY! Dominating his opponents, breaking their will to fight, dragging them through buildings and burying them in craters, CLOTHESLINING THEM LIKE IT'S NOTHING! Personally I think Broly did know Goku or Kakarot was the same person that “defeated” him all those years ago. It’s made clear that Paragus knows Goku’s identity, and Broly knows Goku by his saiyan name Kakarot; it’s unlikely that he didn’t know who Goku was and then just suddenly realized their connection in what could have been his last moments. I think Broly did know who Goku was; that crying was only a major part of his traumatic memory that resurfaced upon seeing Goku, and remembering how Goku wouldn’t back down and still wouldn’t just made Broly want to settle the score even more. What I’m saying is that Broly suffers from PTSD that was triggered by Goku’s appearance (the only remaining vestige of his traumatic memory) and was combined with his saiyan instincts which made him want to prove his dominance. Broly hates Goku because he both reminds him of his horrific infancy and defiantly refuses to back down to a superior being. As such, Broly sees this as a sort of rematch that he’s not going to pass up; after all these years he can finally settle the score with Goku. To support my argument, I cite the fact that Broly specifically and exclusively targets Goku before the former becomes a legendary super saiyan (he has attacked Paragus before, but apparently only because he was a direct and immediate threat in those instances). Once Broly becomes a legendary super saiyan he now attacks everyone in sight, but he still singles out and prioritizes Goku (his broadening of targets could probably be due to his legendary super saiyan form making him go berserk, leaving him with even less self control than normal but still prioritizes his primary target). Instead of an epiphany, the flashback at the end of the movie could simply be Broly’s horror and disbelief that despite his superior power and everything he went through he still lost to Goku again. With that in mind it’s believable that his hatred for Goku became genetic; despite him being the legendary super saiyan he lost to the same low class saiyan twice and this time it cost him what little was left of his sanity, this time he has nothing left to lose and will exact his revenge against Goku and everything he cares about or die trying.
It is only blue because of the headgear mind control device. Hence, why he doesn't have it in the other movies or after he destroyed it in the first movie. But yes Broly made it look way cooler.
Broly was never overly-motivated by Goku crying. He wanted to kick Gokus butt. That's all. All Gokus' crying did was subconsciously wake Broly up from the mind control. How "broken and traumatized" was Broly after he woke up, oh that's right, he wasn't. He was just himself. A pretty typical sadistic saiyan by most standards.

I love Broly so much that I have the Triple Threat DVD combo pack, DBS Broly Special Edition, and a Broly team in Dragon Ball Legends. Ever since I bought the DVD pack in 2015 and saw that first movie I was in absolute amazement on how cool this character was and became a big fan immediately. Long side rant: The latter films from the Z franchise didn't really sour my experience because I am the "Forgive and forget" type, but when I saw Dragon Ball Super had a Broly movie coming out I was over the moon excited. Didn't see it in theaters sadly because where I lived at the time didn't have a nearby theater I could walk to, but I did watch it (with some unique sources) when it released on streaming services. All in all though Broly should be loved, and for the right reasons... feared and respected becasue I don't think there's gonna be another like him especially after our dear friend Akira Toriyama passed away. So cherrish this big green killer and give him the respect he deserves, if not a lot at least a little.
There is one line that Broly says in the second movie that is the true Broly shining through the brain damage. Gohan: "Enough!" Broly: "Not till you lie dead at my feet." It's strange that they limit themselves to just that one line, though Broly taking his sweet time fighting could also be sided as Broly sadistic personality and taking pleasure in causing pain. Also, one of my favorite Broly lines actually has Kakarot in it. "Kakarot, how much do you love your son?"

I also assumed that it was easier for partial-blood Saiyans to become SSJ1-3 but only full-blooded Saiyans could become a SSJ4.
I always took it as him being afraid of baby kakarot's fighting spirit and potential, not the actual crying bothering him, but everyone else always seems to miss that
that final form Brolly could have been the same bulked form trunks unsuccessfully used against perfect cell. they should have had him and vegeta use that form against super perfect cell blast cell from behind while cell had the final beam battle vs gohan.

You forgot or may have never paid much attention but the moment Broly kills his father, his power or his will seems to be even more free, implying hes now even more stronger without the thought of his father still being around. So his power could be 2500
I always looked at lssj broly from the first movie as a perfected ssj grade 3. So he had the power trunks showed in ssj g3, but because he had perfected the form and grew into the increased body, he was able to fight without the speed decrease

Broly in his 2nd movie did feel more like a joke, but I at least loved how he seemed to have a normal Super Saiyan form & then went into his Legendary form when Gohan appeared. As if to show, while he's mentally damaged from being defeated by Goku, he's either far more powerful than before or has learned to control that power to the point where he can transcend & descend into other forms. Bio-Broly though was. . . Yeah, let's pretend that movie doesn't exist.
In this case you’re probably right. But in general unless it the super kameha it’s not 2.5 times your power level. We have confirmation of this as gokus powerlevel no longer changes when using kameha after king Kai and only changes when using kaioken. King Kai’s training was on using the spirit of your body in movements so it’s way more likely that he just learned to use that kameha power for physical power as well and now only gets the boost with the super kameha just like in dragon ball.
Well now that Broly is officially canon in one form or another let’s just hope they don’t Flanderize him again. I for one am excited to see what direction they will take this new canon Broly in. Even though Super’s version of Broly is the canon one, since he is a different character he’s sort of a “second chance” while the original Z Broly is retroactively a “what if” version of the character. One thing that I’m hoping for is that they transfer more of Z Broly’s traits and abilities to BR Broly in the near future.
I have a question: if the Kamehameha makes Goku temporarily stronger by 2.2x, if he went full power as a regular super Saiyan then fired a Kamehameha is he as strong as a super Saiyan 2 in that moment?
His hair is technically not purple in his restrained base state. more so using Super Saiyan power but in his base since hes restrained. that was choice of design since its in night time and wanted to more more realism in the hair . that's why in retained ssj there's still purple which is really suppose to be the shade with the tallish green color in that form. but when he's actual ssj its golden. then the rest says itself. yall already know this but in case those don't know yea :P.
Again, the 50x multiplier for Base to SSJ is no longer correct as that referred to SSJ grade 1. All Saiyans now use grade 4 as their base SSJ form so assuming grade 2 is 2x grade 1 and grade 3/4 as 4x grade 1 that means that the base multiplier should be at least 200x for Base to SSJ1.
I saw somewhere a while ago that Broly wasn't Toryama's idea, but that of another author assigned to the film. The idea would have appeared when posted to Saiyans, becoming a success and generating certain jealousy... Soon, a "campaign" was launched to demoralize the character (the following films). Then an adaptation of the idea in the DBS film to establish the character in the author's catalog.

Poorly understood as DBM and more demonstrate. Not invincible. Not infinitely increasing PL. Just gathers energy over time (with a capacity limit). Like a 'Grade 3' where the bone structure adjusts to accommodate. Less potent than SS2. Also, purely a mutant genetics thing.
Goku never lost his Saiyan nature. Goku just smiles and laughs. Goku will fight and destroy just as much as Broly. Goku took out at least 4 universes in the T.O.P. Goku also looked to strike fear in every enemy he just smiled while doing it.
I'm not so sure the purple tint on his hair means anything. I'm pretty sure that was just for animators to display moon light shining off his black hair. Same with the "blue hair super saiyan". I'm pretty sure that's just animators displaying the yellow aura shining off his black hair.
Personally, I always enjoyed all the different super Saiyan forms, but I had a theory What if none of the forms seem are actually super Saiyan? As you go up in number, the forms become more ape-like in appearance. Ss3 has the brow ridge and 4 has the fur. So what if the golden oozaru form is ACTUALLY the true super Saiyan form? Obviously people online have touched on this idea. Look how when Vegeta spoke about the legendary super Saiyan; it had a golden haired great ape in the anime. Sure, at that point they hadn't settled on a definitive look yet, so it was a bit of a placeholder...But to me it would be cool if that's what the true super Saiyan form actually was.. and why the more powerful forms were more bestial..as they were that much closer to the actual form. Or. Mostly the same idea but what if the reason the super Saiyan in Vegeta at story destroyed himself was because he didn't get his rage in check and stayed in the golden oozaru form, ultimately destroying himself and everything around him in rage.. and the ss4 form is ACTUALLY the true baseline super Saiyan form mastered, with all the previous "forms" being just steps closer to the true power of the real form. And that's why the hair is black and they have fur... Because it's the correct balance of the ape's power with the mind of the Saiyan kept intact. So maybe gt could be where TRUE super Saiyan first made it's debut.
I've always wondered if Broly was really meant to be the entity that Frieza actually feared where Goku unlocked a lesser version and ultimately stole that destiny from the Legendary.

To me Broly is what would happen if Sun Wukong’s circlet is broken, or before Sun Wukong got it. Sun Wukong would rampage on a whim and would genuinely enjoy it. So even though Goku shares his name with Wukong (atleast in Japanese) Broly is more representative of Sun Wukong
Love Broly, specially with his purply hair form and LSSj. Other then his backstory with Goku, he is awesome and he isn't stupid at all. The final fight with Goku, he didn't drop in power cause Goku blocked him. His power doesn't work on ego, and him being in shock wouldn't lower it. He did have a moment of fear cause no one has ever been able to match him. And Goku used this moment to deal the final blow, using all the power given him into that final punch. I do not think Broly realized who Goku was in that final punch, but more like remembering how it started to how it ended. That and the first time he saw Goku he know who he was, and then we see him having a flashback to Goku crying. So it wouldn't make sense to have all that and then go oh I know who you are now. The thing with Gohan SSj2, I don't think he's beating Broly. Broly beat down 4 SSj and Piccolo like they were nothing, but I do think SSj2 Gohan will actually put up a fight. I know Broly is said to be stronger in every movie after, but given the first one I find it hard to believe. In the second movie he was frozen, and once freed he was still hard. So I don't think he was at 100%, and could explain why he had such a hard time with 2 children SSj's, SSj Gohan and didn't kill Krillin with that blast. I also wish they kept the green/lime green hair of his LSSj from the first movie. I still haven't watch the third one yet and I may never. The whole Saiyan pride and Goku standing up to such power when they were babies could be true on an instinctive level. But also they were babies, still I like this then what we actually got. Yeah King Vegeta could be called a hypocrite, but the thing is he believed that level of power belonged to the royal family. So for a child of a low class Saiyan to be born with such power, and the Legendary Super Saiyan not being of the royal family. Was an insult and a challenge to the role of the royal family. As for the not being born evil thing is and isn't true. He was born with that Saiyan bloodlust for combat, and we see that when he was a child and in that purple SSj form destroying a city. As a baby he didn't save his father, but rather his father was holding on to him. Frieza blow up the planet, and as he did we see baby Broly already in that purple SSj form power up. He formed an energy ball/shield around himself, which his father was in, a shield strong enough to protect them from Frieza's blast and flu away. His father did control him with that device, but that was to keep him from destroying everything. He did get screwed, but the only memoire he has is of Goku crying. Not being betrayed by his own people, or being thrown out in the trash. I'm not saying there isn't some trauma there, but it does not justify or explain his level of cruelty or the delight he takes in destroying and dominating. So given that everyone that has gone SSj hasn't turned into Broly, it can be said that he is the way he is because he is the LSSj. I mean we even saw this monstrous and bloodlust for combat in the new Broly to, even that sadistic laugh of his come out. So I think maybe Broly is a throwback to the days of the evil Saiyan, like Cumber. RIP Akira Toriyama
i haven't watched video yet but i've had the theory that Broly's Super Saiyan was a DIFFERENT branch of super saiyan we also learn throughout DBZ that there are different paths in Super Saiyan and it isn't as "linear/neat" as going SS1 to SS2 to SS3. since we saw trunks do that higher power level/more muscle but MUCH lower speed that he didn't want to use around Geets cuz he thought it would make Geets feel bad about having smaller power level than F.trunks which we also later learn that "Future Trunks" is not from the "Future" but an alternate timeline... since we even saw early PROOF of concept when he returned after the Android and Cell Saga that NOTHING had improved his future or undone the damage that were caused by the androids. Instead, when he came "back" to what we THOUGHT was the OG Timeline of the Z Fighters, it turned out to be an alternate timeline he created by going back in time. Thus Dr.Geo and that white ball of fluff turned Android (20/21?) being the NEW Android Threat instead of 17 and 18. and later we got to meet the red headed giant with the cool armor, Android 16 who was, naturally, programmed to kill Goku. but once Bulma worked on him, he no longer wanted to do his primary directive and even started to appreciate life on earth and was hypothetically a hippy in his pre-android form due to his natural attraction to and from nature and animals in general. Anyway, 16 was a G for going out like he did, trying to do as much damage as he could. was sad to see him go for good (the severed head being stomped to oblivion) F Trunks also gave GoOoOookuuu the cure to his mysterious heart disease? still not sure what that was all about or how he got it or where it come from.... since Saiyans are built different, i don't recall an episode showcasing a sick Goku/Vegeta, or their offspring. Plus their healing factors. as well as getting stronger after fights. At any rate. Fast forward even more and we reach Goku Black (Zamasu) - by the time he's fighting the final, Goku remembers he has a button to press that instantly calls on Omniking Xeno in his timeline/alt reality, so he tries it here in the future vs the Goku/Zamasu Potaro earring fused SSJ Rose that's become a universal/reality threat. So he pressed it and poof, a new Omniking appears but DOES NOT KNOW our Goku even after he explains the situation however he DOES say that something needs to be done ASAP about their situation and Xeno #2 (as i call him) agreeds and even states "this is a very, very nasty man" or was it situation. Either way he gives our boys time to dip out before he ERASES that entire timeline from existence and he returns with Goku to meet Goku's Xeno. so the 2 Xenos become fast friends. I can't recall where Future trunks ends up but he does returnsomewhere...
Dude, this isn't much of a theory, but there is some missing details. First, there are official materials that outright say that Broly's legendary form is a different evolution of super sayain. It's unique to him, not something you train for. Trunk's form you mentioned wasn't special. Super sayain exists within grades. There is the basic grade 1, Vegeta used grade 2 to crush semi-perfect cell. Trunks used grade 3 when perfect cell humbled him. Gohan and Goku used grade 4 initially when fighting cell. Super sayain 2 was originally called grade 5, the perfect/ultimate Super sayain state. Super sayain 3, is grade 6, an unnatural and unstable enhancement of the true Super sayain. Like Super sayain 2 charged up by drugs. Legendary super sayain is an inherent branch, the special form of the super sayain that the legend was about. Even if it's not the ultimate form, it's superior to grade 3, and lacks any weakness, it also grows in power over time. So the initial multiplier is added onto as a fight progresses whereas other super sayains grow weaker as a form depletes their ki. Mean even if the form does not have a power boost initially equal to SSG5 it will overcome it with time, and given Broly's unbelievable base power, Broly would likely be stronger either way. For example SS1 Broly (grade 1) was so powerful SSGSS Goku and Vegeta (post tournament of power) were too weak to hurt Broly at all. Meaning Broly's base power was so immense that a 50× multiplier was all that was needed to eclipse the godly sayains who were using a firm with a multiplier that vastly surpasses the 400× multiplier of SSG6 (Ie SS3). Broly was also born with a power level of 10,000. What makes the legendary super sayain so special isn't just his special form. Everything about him is legendary. Prince vegeta was born with less than half Broly's base power and Vegeta was prior to that, the most powerful at birth in recorded sayain history. The path from grade 1 to grade 5 is pretty direct and neat. The only sayains who break that are the legendary sayains Broly and Kale. I suppose Gohan too, if beast is ever explained.

I don't want to be that guy ... but i do agree with Broly soloing the entire dragon ball verse with the exception of cell. Either Gero would had found a way to collect broly cell's or Cell itself found a way to get some for it self... imagine a Cell with his DNA into his core... it would be terrifing

Having finally watched this thing last night, I can say the animation was amazing. It was such a good dbz movie. I totally see how the production value tricked a bunch of my peers into thinking Broly was anything other than a particularly screamy Boss Fight. I'm sorry, he's just a one-note villain with a rather silly backstory. If they redid this whole movie in 3D animation, no one would like it, the fight, or Broly.
The fact that goku got power out of a near death group screams plot nonsense because everyone was on the verge of death with the exception of vegeta who was just beat up and goku was running on negative due to the fact that they were feeding goku energy and broly was just pounding on goku to the point that he made goku a trampoline.

Personally I think Broly did know Goku or Kakarot was the same person that “defeated” him all those years ago. It’s made clear that Paragus knows Goku’s identity, and Broly knows Goku by his saiyan name Kakarot; it’s unlikely that he didn’t know who Goku was and then just suddenly realized their connection in what could have been his last moments. I think Broly did know who Goku was; that crying was only a major part of his traumatic memory that resurfaced upon seeing Goku, and remembering how Goku wouldn’t back down and still wouldn’t just made Broly want to settle the score even more. What I’m saying is that Broly suffers from PTSD that was triggered by Goku’s appearance (the only remaining vestige of his traumatic memory) and was combined with his saiyan instincts which made him want to prove his dominance. Broly hates Goku because he both reminds him of his horrific infancy and defiantly refuses to back down to a superior being. As such, Broly sees this as a sort of rematch that he’s not going to pass up; after all these years he can finally settle the score with Goku. To support my argument, I cite the fact that Broly specifically and exclusively targets Goku before the former becomes a legendary super saiyan (he has attacked Paragus before, but apparently only because he was a direct and immediate threat in those instances). Once Broly becomes a legendary super saiyan he now attacks everyone in sight, but he still singles out and prioritizes Goku (his broadening of targets could probably be due to his legendary super saiyan form making him go berserk, leaving him with even less self control than normal but still prioritizes his primary target). Instead of an epiphany, the flashback at the end of the movie could simply be Broly’s horror and disbelief that despite his superior power and everything he went through he still lost to Goku again. With that in mind it’s believable that his hatred for Goku became genetic; despite him being the legendary super saiyan he lost to the same low class saiyan twice and this time it cost him what little was left of his sanity, this time he has nothing left to lose and will exact his revenge against Goku and everything he cares about or die trying.

I love Broly so much that I have the Triple Threat DVD combo pack, DBS Broly Special Edition, and a Broly team in Dragon Ball Legends. Ever since I bought the DVD pack in 2015 and saw that first movie I was in absolute amazement on how cool this character was and became a big fan immediately.
Long side rant: The latter films from the Z franchise didn't really sour my experience because I am the "Forgive and forget" type, but when I saw Dragon Ball Super had a Broly movie coming out I was over the moon excited. Didn't see it in theaters sadly because where I lived at the time didn't have a nearby theater I could walk to, but I did watch it (with some unique sources) when it released on streaming services. All in all though Broly should be loved, and for the right reasons... feared and respected becasue I don't think there's gonna be another like him especially after our dear friend Akira Toriyama passed away. So cherrish this big green killer and give him the respect he deserves, if not a lot at least a little.
First film Broly is right up there with first Cooler for being the best movie villain.

that final form Brolly could have been the same bulked form trunks unsuccessfully used against perfect cell. they should have had him and vegeta use that form against super perfect cell blast cell from behind while cell had the final beam battle vs gohan.

Broly in his 2nd movie did feel more like a joke, but I at least loved how he seemed to have a normal Super Saiyan form & then went into his Legendary form when Gohan appeared. As if to show, while he's mentally damaged from being defeated by Goku, he's either far more powerful than before or has learned to control that power to the point where he can transcend & descend into other forms.

In this case you’re probably right. But in general unless it the super kameha it’s not 2.5 times your power level. We have confirmation of this as gokus powerlevel no longer changes when using kameha after king Kai and only changes when using kaioken. King Kai’s training was on using the spirit of your body in movements so it’s way more likely that he just learned to use that kameha power for physical power as well and now only gets the boost with the super kameha just like in dragon ball.
Broly is like a natural disaster. Only difference is he has enough sentience to know what he's doing is evil and he LOVES it.

Well now that Broly is officially canon in one form or another let’s just hope they don’t Flanderize him again. I for one am excited to see what direction they will take this new canon Broly in. Even though Super’s version of Broly is the canon one, since he is a different character he’s sort of a “second chance” while the original Z Broly is retroactively a “what if” version of the character. One thing that I’m hoping for is that they transfer more of Z Broly’s traits and abilities to BR Broly in the near future.

I have a question: if the Kamehameha makes Goku temporarily stronger by 2.2x, if he went full power as a regular super Saiyan then fired a Kamehameha is he as strong as a super Saiyan 2 in that moment?
His hair is technically not purple in his restrained base state. more so using Super Saiyan power but in his base since hes restrained. that was choice of design since its in night time and wanted to more more realism in the hair . that's why in retained ssj there's still purple which is really suppose to be the shade with the tallish green color in that form. but when he's actual ssj its golden. then the rest says itself. yall already know this but in case those don't know yea :P.
Again, the 50x multiplier for Base to SSJ is no longer correct as that referred to SSJ grade 1. All Saiyans now use grade 4 as their base SSJ form so assuming grade 2 is 2x grade 1 and grade 3/4 as 4x grade 1 that means that the base multiplier should be at least 200x for Base to SSJ1.
I saw somewhere a while ago that Broly wasn't Toryama's idea, but that of another author assigned to the film. The idea would have appeared when posted to Saiyans, becoming a success and generating certain jealousy...
Soon, a "campaign" was launched to demoralize the character (the following films). Then an adaptation of the idea in the DBS film to establish the character in the author's catalog.

Poorly understood as DBM and more demonstrate. Not invincible. Not infinitely increasing PL. Just gathers energy over time (with a capacity limit). Like a 'Grade 3' where the bone structure adjusts to accommodate. Less potent than SS2. Also, purely a mutant genetics thing.

I'm not so sure the purple tint on his hair means anything. I'm pretty sure that was just for animators to display moon light shining off his black hair. Same with the "blue hair super saiyan". I'm pretty sure that's just animators displaying the yellow aura shining off his black hair.

As you go up in number, the forms become more ape-like in appearance. Ss3 has the brow ridge and 4 has the fur.
So what if the golden oozaru form is ACTUALLY the true super Saiyan form? Obviously people online have touched on this idea. Look how when Vegeta spoke about the legendary super Saiyan; it had a golden haired great ape in the anime. Sure, at that point they hadn't settled on a definitive look yet, so it was a bit of a placeholder...But to me it would be cool if that's what the true super Saiyan form actually was.. and why the more powerful forms were more bestial..as they were that much closer to the actual form.
Or. Mostly the same idea but what if the reason the super Saiyan in Vegeta at story destroyed himself was because he didn't get his rage in check and stayed in the golden oozaru form, ultimately destroying himself and everything around him in rage.. and the ss4 form is ACTUALLY the true baseline super Saiyan form mastered, with all the previous "forms" being just steps closer to the true power of the real form. And that's why the hair is black and they have fur... Because it's the correct balance of the ape's power with the mind of the Saiyan kept intact.
So maybe gt could be where TRUE super Saiyan first made it's debut.
I've always wondered if Broly was really meant to be the entity that Frieza actually feared where Goku unlocked a lesser version and ultimately stole that destiny from the Legendary.

To me Broly is what would happen if Sun Wukong’s circlet is broken, or before Sun Wukong got it. Sun Wukong would rampage on a whim and would genuinely enjoy it. So even though Goku shares his name with Wukong (atleast in Japanese) Broly is more representative of Sun Wukong

Love Broly, specially with his purply hair form and LSSj. Other then his backstory with Goku, he is awesome and he isn't stupid at all.
The final fight with Goku, he didn't drop in power cause Goku blocked him. His power doesn't work on ego, and him being in shock wouldn't lower it. He did have a moment of fear cause no one has ever been able to match him. And Goku used this moment to deal the final blow, using all the power given him into that final punch.
I do not think Broly realized who Goku was in that final punch, but more like remembering how it started to how it ended. That and the first time he saw Goku he know who he was, and then we see him having a flashback to Goku crying. So it wouldn't make sense to have all that and then go oh I know who you are now.
The thing with Gohan SSj2, I don't think he's beating Broly. Broly beat down 4 SSj and Piccolo like they were nothing, but I do think SSj2 Gohan will actually put up a fight.
I know Broly is said to be stronger in every movie after, but given the first one I find it hard to believe. In the second movie he was frozen, and once freed he was still hard. So I don't think he was at 100%, and could explain why he had such a hard time with 2 children SSj's, SSj Gohan and didn't kill Krillin with that blast. I also wish they kept the green/lime green hair of his LSSj from the first movie. I still haven't watch the third one yet and I may never.
The whole Saiyan pride and Goku standing up to such power when they were babies could be true on an instinctive level. But also they were babies, still I like this then what we actually got.
Yeah King Vegeta could be called a hypocrite, but the thing is he believed that level of power belonged to the royal family. So for a child of a low class Saiyan to be born with such power, and the Legendary Super Saiyan not being of the royal family. Was an insult and a challenge to the role of the royal family.
As for the not being born evil thing is and isn't true. He was born with that Saiyan bloodlust for combat, and we see that when he was a child and in that purple SSj form destroying a city. As a baby he didn't save his father, but rather his father was holding on to him. Frieza blow up the planet, and as he did we see baby Broly already in that purple SSj form power up. He formed an energy ball/shield around himself, which his father was in, a shield strong enough to protect them from Frieza's blast and flu away. His father did control him with that device, but that was to keep him from destroying everything. He did get screwed, but the only memoire he has is of Goku crying. Not being betrayed by his own people, or being thrown out in the trash. I'm not saying there isn't some trauma there, but it does not justify or explain his level of cruelty or the delight he takes in destroying and dominating. So given that everyone that has gone SSj hasn't turned into Broly, it can be said that he is the way he is because he is the LSSj. I mean we even saw this monstrous and bloodlust for combat in the new Broly to, even that sadistic laugh of his come out. So I think maybe Broly is a throwback to the days of the evil Saiyan, like Cumber.

i haven't watched video yet but i've had the theory that Broly's Super Saiyan was a DIFFERENT branch of super saiyan
we also learn throughout DBZ that there are different paths in Super Saiyan and it isn't as "linear/neat" as going SS1
to SS2 to SS3. since we saw trunks do that higher power level/more muscle but MUCH lower speed that he didn't
want to use around Geets cuz he thought it would make Geets feel bad about having smaller power level than F.trunks
which we also later learn that "Future Trunks" is not from the "Future" but an alternate timeline... since we even saw
early PROOF of concept when he returned after the Android and Cell Saga that NOTHING had improved his future or
undone the damage that were caused by the androids.
Instead, when he came "back" to what we THOUGHT was the OG Timeline of the Z Fighters, it turned out to be an
alternate timeline he created by going back in time. Thus Dr.Geo and that white ball of fluff turned Android (20/21?)
being the NEW Android Threat instead of 17 and 18. and later we got to meet the red headed giant with the cool armor,
Android 16 who was, naturally, programmed to kill Goku. but once Bulma worked on him, he no longer wanted to do
his primary directive and even started to appreciate life on earth and was hypothetically a hippy in his pre-android form
due to his natural attraction to and from nature and animals in general. Anyway, 16 was a G for going out like he did,
trying to do as much damage as he could. was sad to see him go for good (the severed head being stomped to oblivion)
F Trunks also gave GoOoOookuuu the cure to his mysterious heart disease? still not sure what that was all about or how
he got it or where it come from.... since Saiyans are built different, i don't recall an episode showcasing a sick Goku/Vegeta,
or their offspring. Plus their healing factors. as well as getting stronger after fights.
At any rate. Fast forward even more and we reach Goku Black (Zamasu) - by the time he's fighting the final, Goku remembers
he has a button to press that instantly calls on Omniking Xeno in his timeline/alt reality, so he tries it here in the future vs the
Goku/Zamasu Potaro earring fused SSJ Rose that's become a universal/reality threat.
So he pressed it and poof, a new Omniking appears but DOES NOT KNOW our Goku even after he explains the situation
however he DOES say that something needs to be done ASAP about their situation and Xeno #2 (as i call him) agreeds and
even states "this is a very, very nasty man" or was it situation. Either way he gives our boys time to dip out before he ERASES
that entire timeline from existence and he returns with Goku to meet Goku's Xeno. so the 2 Xenos become fast friends.
I can't recall where Future trunks ends up but he does returnsomewhere...
Dude, this isn't much of a theory, but there is some missing details. First, there are official materials that outright say that Broly's legendary form is a different evolution of super sayain. It's unique to him, not something you train for.
Trunk's form you mentioned wasn't special. Super sayain exists within grades. There is the basic grade 1, Vegeta used grade 2 to crush semi-perfect cell. Trunks used grade 3 when perfect cell humbled him. Gohan and Goku used grade 4 initially when fighting cell.
Super sayain 2 was originally called grade 5, the perfect/ultimate Super sayain state. Super sayain 3, is grade 6, an unnatural and unstable enhancement of the true Super sayain. Like Super sayain 2 charged up by drugs.
Legendary super sayain is an inherent branch, the special form of the super sayain that the legend was about. Even if it's not the ultimate form, it's superior to grade 3, and lacks any weakness, it also grows in power over time. So the initial multiplier is added onto as a fight progresses whereas other super sayains grow weaker as a form depletes their ki. Mean even if the form does not have a power boost initially equal to SSG5 it will overcome it with time, and given Broly's unbelievable base power, Broly would likely be stronger either way.
For example SS1 Broly (grade 1) was so powerful SSGSS Goku and Vegeta (post tournament of power) were too weak to hurt Broly at all. Meaning Broly's base power was so immense that a 50× multiplier was all that was needed to eclipse the godly sayains who were using a firm with a multiplier that vastly surpasses the 400× multiplier of SSG6 (Ie SS3).
Broly was also born with a power level of 10,000. What makes the legendary super sayain so special isn't just his special form. Everything about him is legendary. Prince vegeta was born with less than half Broly's base power and Vegeta was prior to that, the most powerful at birth in recorded sayain history.
The path from grade 1 to grade 5 is pretty direct and neat. The only sayains who break that are the legendary sayains Broly and Kale. I suppose Gohan too, if beast is ever explained.
As for all the stuff about time travel and black, it really isn't related.

He does not understand what those cries represent nor does he understand how saiyan society works. Sure its a great plot theme but it doesn't work if the character it is about cant even understand it.

Either Gero would had found a way to collect broly cell's or Cell itself found a way to get some for it self... imagine a Cell with his DNA into his core... it would be terrifing

Having finally watched this thing last night, I can say the animation was amazing. It was such a good dbz movie. I totally see how the production value tricked a bunch of my peers into thinking Broly was anything other than a particularly screamy Boss Fight. I'm sorry, he's just a one-note villain with a rather silly backstory. If they redid this whole movie in 3D animation, no one would like it, the fight, or Broly.

The fact that goku got power out of a near death group screams plot nonsense because everyone was on the verge of death with the exception of vegeta who was just beat up and goku was running on negative due to the fact that they were feeding goku energy and broly was just pounding on goku to the point that he made goku a trampoline.
